As a kid I tried recreating this fight with my toys

I love that Megatron didn’t call Optimus weak cause he killed him, but because Optimus was dogging Megatron and his goons, only to fatally drop his guard for a mere human

After 7 live action films this still stands as the most detailed and most choreographed fight in the entire franchise. And this fight was so epic and time consuming on production that the ILM guys said they had to cut the final fight with the Fallen short.....

I know a lot of people have used this scene, especially the face ripping scene, to talk down about how the Bayverse Prime was overly violent. But if you think about it, in this scene, Optimus is fighting tooth and nail not just to keep the Deceptacon‘s from another plan to destroy Earth, but trying to protect one of his few human friends. He fought so violently because he knew if he fail and the Cons got Sam it would be the end of him and Earth.

This is one of the moments that truly exemplifies Optimus as a Prime; standing his ground to the bitter end in a three on one battle to protect Sam and, by extension, Earth and all of humanity.

"you'll never stop at one" is such a fantastic line. Optimus refuses to budge on his morals because he knows what will follow if you give evil like Megatron an inch.

This is the most coherent and easily understandable fight in the Bay films, it isn't full of explosions, the camera is pulled far back giving a clear view, and it isn't shaking constantly It's perfection

This is hands down one of the best CGI fight scenes I've seen. This movie was released back in 2009. I was 10 years old back then and I'm 24 today and I still come back to see this particular scene. Such a masterpiece.

"I'll take you all on!" has to be one of the most memorable and epic moments for Optimus. Not only because you can hear the defiance in his voice and the built up rage for the Decepticons but how he then proceeds to simply tear the absolute hell out of all of them and the only way they could stop him was Megatron getting in a cheap shot.

Not one action scene in the new transformers movie can top this, none. Bay's Transformers action scenes are so raw and cool, you can feel the weight in it.

It's wild to me how some people call Optimus a bad guy for killing Grindor here. Like bruh, Optimus was getting gang banged by three dudes who are all bigger than him, all three of them were dead set on killing him, and yet Optimus is called a psycho for ripping Grindor's head off. Grindor, Starscream, and Megatron were all trying to kill him, Optimus defended himself. Self defense doesn't always end in the attackers leaving to go lick their wounds. And they didn't, Megatron still came up from behind and killed Optimus. Oh let's not forget that the Decepticons are literally fighting to harvest the sun in this movie, which would kill all life on planet Earth. But yeah, Optimus is a bad guy for trying to save humanity from a war they have no part in. I guess it's just like in Age of Extinction. The Autobots fight and die for us squishy humans in a war. War has casualties, it's not pretty. But they fought for humanity, and humanity repays them by slandering, hating, and murdering the Autobots. Yet for some reason the remaining Decepticons get jail time. This sounds ridiculous until you realize it's exactly what's going on in the fanbase. The Decepticons are being sympathized with despite being literal extraterrestrial terrorists, but the Autobots are being slandered because they couldn't save 'em all. These people are warped, they need to get their minds straight.

Optimus in the 1st movie to Megatron: *"I’m sorry, brother, you left me no choice."* Also Optimus, to the exact same person: *"pUnY! WaSTe Of MeTAl! JuNkYARd sCRaP!"*

People seem to really understand that line from Megatron “You’re so weak”. He’s not calling Optimus physically weak, as Megatron was clearly outmatched, but he’s rather calling him morally weak. Optimus put everything into that fight and could’ve easily won if he had not called out for Sam, diverting his focus for a human. That’s why Megatron called him weak, because no matter how skillful and strong Optimus is in combat, those traits are always outweighed by his moral vulnerability for humans.

This scene alone could be used as the official definition of jumping.

Fun fact : Optimus wasn't meant to start trash talking. Peter Cullen hated the fact that Optimus was actually owning Megatron and Megatron gets to call him weak at the end of the fight by calling for backup and doing a sneak attack to kill him. So Peter Cullen talked Micheal Bay into letting them keep it and so they did. So there you have it, a Vulgar Optimus Prime

If you ask me this was the absolute peak of the transformers franchise Dark of the moon wasn’t bad but the fact we see Optimus taking on 3 deceptions including Megatron,basically winning while running interference to protect Sam was epic and it has no human intervention like in the later films

Grindor's sick little rotor trick at 2:58 - 3:00 is super awesome. It's like a butterfly knife or something and it's so beast.

The choreography in this fight is awesome. Optimus doesn't tip the fight in his favor by some boost of determination or something, he is constantly moving and redirecting the 'Cons, using them to unbalance each other, thinking tactically, and he almost always one of them between him and the others, which allows him to take back control of the fight.

I would love to watch this scene in a theater again.

Say what you want about Michael Bay but the man knows how to make some of the best action scenes known to man. Also whoever does the soundtrack, sound design, and CGI deserves big praise.

I was watching the scene the other day, and the deleted scenes make it so much better and this is already the best fight in the whole franchise

At 2:14 you can hear Starscream saying ow right before the big hit, rewlly cool detail

You can tell Megatron was having a difficult time. Not only was he put in a new body that he isn’t used to, but he’s also fighting an Optimus that probably already had time to practice his combat skills in case Megs ever came back. He literally had to call for backup because he knew that he wouldn’t last long against prime.

The fact that this was made in 2009 still baffles me

I will say this: Optimus prime is the best character ever created when you see him you know everything will be going well and brings hope when he arrives

This scene just shows how advanced Optimus's hand to hand/gun to gun combat is more than the other 3. He absolutely tore them apart. Then Megatron has the audacity to call him weak after a cheap staby stabs lol

Let's all just take a moment to realize had Optimus not let his guard down for about a second he would have killed all of them
