Transformers Siege Shockwave 

This thing looks like shockwave went to another dimension killed himself then started wearing his own parts

As a robot, I like the wave rider for the accessories. It's fine, if not better without them. In alt mode, I prefer the way it looks all together. The accessories are just an excuse for them to charge a leader class price for a voyager class bot.

If you're going to play with it, especially with a kid - the extra stuff is incredible. And, the more siege stuff you get, the more fun it becomes. As for the ridiculously souped-up robot mode, well, Shockwave is a bit of a mad scientist.

I'm just going to call this guy power master shockwave.

I love the stupid novelty of the figure. I am just gonna have to disagree with you a bit. He is my favorite siege figure I have gotten so far.

I'm happy with this guy, without all of the additional accessories. With them...well...Uncle Skully nailed it with that laugh. I do think that the extra plastic should have gone into making the base bot bigger without the ship mode, but I guess you can't make guns anymore, even if they are a "laser cannon". Correct me if I am wrong, but outside of MP Megs, Classics Megatron was the last "gun" Hasbro released.

Haha, looks like Goro-inspired from Mortal Combat. Strange. Wow, 34 years we had to wait for this figure to show up at retail again. You know, aside from the Masterpiece Shockwave, this version is worth the wait as well. Even has the tampographed (pad printed) Decepticon emblems on his forearms from the original G1 show! Awesome! It really is great to have that G1 Shockwave in the quality and care and engineering that we always wanted. Also, I see all the extra bits as the Sentinel Drone that Shocky used to hunt down both female Autobots (The Search for Alpha Trion) and Spike and Carly (Desertion of the Dinobots Part 2), so it's like two toys in one. Certainly justifies the price point (as, who else could tangle with Ultra Magnus, you know?). Great review!

The Infinity War mode (where Dr Strange fights Thanos and has all those extra arms) is awesome and is a pure win. I'm going to buy 10 of them and shoe horn them all into one of my Detolf shelves.......

I've been putting off getting this one. Only because of the cost. The base Shockwave figure is awesome, but the add ons aren't needed.They're just stretching the "leader" class for these.

If this guy was released as a voyager class figure with none of the extra bits everyone would 100% love this figure. But by requiring that you buy $20 extra worth of plastic junk you're not gonna use in order to get the figure, Hasbro has made a lot of people question whether the figure is good or not. At least with a character like Ultra Magnus, the extra plastic parts remain true to the character since it forms his iconic armor. Shockwave looks like they just didn't know what to do with him so they threw another half of a Shockwave into the box in order to justify the price point they wanted to sell him at. For me personally, I really like the fidelity to character scale that the Siege line is going for and I would be happy if they just avoided Leader class toys altogether unless they needed it for a specific character that was larger. Bu of course Hasbro wants to hit their price points so they kind of force leader class status on characters that would be better as voyagers.

As a hottoys collector I love how hasbro gives us TWO fanmodes HT had skipped in their initial releases: first the extra plastic gives us the infinity wars i-have-lots-of-hands-doctor-strange, and next hasbro gives us the on-a-mining-robot-on-mustafar-but-not-on-the-highground-Anakin! Great work hasbro!

Looking at this review I'm second guessing passing on him to get just the base figure.. however this review was great! You really should review some more siege figures, Bobby!

This should have been a Voyager and Soundwave should have been the leader and come with a bunch of tape bots. Not worth $50 but I do love this line. It's the first non MPs I've bought for myself.

Meh I pay the full price, not often Has releases a very decent Shockwave. After playing with it I find it to be worth it. It has that G1 nostalgia with the a water down mechanics of an MP.

The reason why I trust skullface more on Transformers reviews than emgo and optimbotimus is because He does not bend over backwards for Hasbro.

I'm sure the comments have already went on about it, but: the figure you weren't sure about that you were asked to include a comparison of was called Shockblast, the Transformers Energon version of Shockwave (back when Hasbro had lost the rights to the name). For me, the Slapdash "weathering" on the feet is probably the ONLY example of "you won't really notice it" that folks have tried & failed to sell me on with aspects of other figures. Doesn't bother me one bit. But, apart from that and the silly extra bits that jack up the price point, it's easily THE best CHUG era Shockwave that we've gotten. (Maybe not the best ever as a Voyager - screw the rules *and* Hasbro's thought process, this mofo *ain't* Leader class - I still stand behind the Transformers Prime one in that regard)

I like the core Shockwave, but the drone was unnecessary. Plus, by adding the drone it raised it to Leader price, which was dumb.

I'm excited for your conversation regarding the Siege line. Mainly because for years you've been saying that the Hasbro mainline has suffered and you wouldn't mind if the prices of these figures increased IF the quality increased with it. Well, it seems they have done just that. I don't collect mainline myself, but I have had the same mentality. Now, mainline collectors have done nothing but complain about the increase in pricing and I find myself defending that with the apparent increase in quality. There's a reason I collect MP/3P, because I don't mind paying more for a better product.

This line is a reboot for chug. Much improved over the crap they put out the last few years. Do a successful Combiner in this new line and then I will be impressed. A kick ass Bruticus would be a good start.

Shockwave's what let me know that I'm all-in on this line, because I happily paid a Leader-ass price for a Voyager-ass toy.

There is one extra configuration that is only showed in promotional images over on the Takra side of the world. It isn't that much, but it is slightly more streamlined than the "nuclear starfish" as Mr.Skullface puts it.

I like the armor pieces. I dont do the full armor mode but instead I plug the barrel piece into the hole on the landing gear and set it up as a jet pack and put the shoulder parts on it as thrusters instead. I then put the feet guns on to his forearms. There a lot of option on how to display the armor pieces on him beside the 4 arm mode. I think the only negative thing about it is the price.

I know something useful for his spare parts. Let him use it as a glider like the hobgoblin.

I just got this guy, all the extra stuff is a bit pricey but tbh its hella fun, you can just improvise so much with it it makes Shockwave similar to a Sixshot. Quite fun figure actually.

He poses well and looks great in front of my Marvel Transformers #5. I bought him hoping he could be held by my Zeta Bruticus but the gun mode handle is to large... I can kind of have him holding shockwave across his body while cradling it with the other hand. Its a shame because I think he looks better then bridge watcher or the other shockwave gun modes built to be held by combiners.

The name of that novel (1:25) is called War of the Worlds by HG Wells! It's a good book if you ever want to give it a try. Let me know, you can barrow my copy.

I know you hate when people say this, but that laugh inducing super mode? my 7yr old LOVES that shit, sometimes we really are robbed of fun by the baggage we bring to these things. anyway, doesn't have shit to do with how you review, just had to represent for the poor kids living that retail life haha

No interest in getting any of these figures but I like the look of him, reminds me of Alternators Shockblast.

I like this figure and get these for my boys, but the cost of $50 for the parts is a no go.

The big things on his shoulders look more like his boots.

I'm not in for the entire line but i'm digging the dudes i have so far. I dumped my MP megatron, shockwave, soundwave, and starscream. These guys scratch the itch the way i want. I want to transform them, pose them, and display them. My hands are only getting clumsier with the trade i've chosen. That being said i have to ask if that flame toys "The Fallen' is high on your must buy list?

The biggest two issues I have with this figure are that number one... it has no forward and back foot/toe tilt. We've seen it already on a bunch if not most of the Siege line up already, why not shockwave. It would be an easy bit of engineering to work in there. Number two, it's way too expensive for the extra crap he comes with. If it was just the figure and only $30-$35 and maybe an effect part, perfect I'm sold. But $60 for a voyager sized class figure, with weak ankle tilts side to side and no front to back tilts, and a bunch of random stuff that it doesn't need... Just not worth it to me. Imma buy a Hound and Prowl and possibly Soundwave and that's it for me mac.

The side blasters when connecting to the hoverboard are very loose. Anyone else experience this and is there a fix?

I really like this but i'm waiting for it to go on sale, here in europe it's just too much money for half a figure, i really don't care for the armor...

I just want the bot! I don't want to pay $50 for the extra garbage. Wish they would release him as a Voyager without the extra bits. I like this line, but this is the only guy in wave 1 that I'm not getting. Hopefully someone on Ebay will sell just the figure and keep the glider thing.

Great review! Epic fail by Hasbro regarding weathering ....come on man I prefer my Transformers to look like they just walked off of the production line. If I want to weather / battle damage I will do it myself. Same with light up features come on man don't give us dead eyes give us Metallic eyes which will enhance with light up features activated. This isn't Quantum Physics!!!!

I would totally buy this as a $30 Voyager but as a $50 "Leader" it's gonna be a strong "NOPE" for me. The stupid little sled looks like $5/8 worth of plastic and effort that I would have loved to see put into the figure instead.

NOOOOOO! My comment along with Uncle Skully time comment went poof! He scales great with teh other figures in the line. Would rather have him sold as voyager class with a blaster instead of the Nuclear Shocktopus bits. If you rotate teh arms 180, it somewhat straightens out teh gun mode. And finally, I didnt know about those fold out fins on the tower of 'not a gun, really' mode. Cool beans on that one.

G1 remastered that is the best way to sum up this line of figures

Probably wouldn't have all that extra crap if Hasbro wasn't forced by our snowflake laws to turn it into a space ship because they were going for G1 Shockwave and realistically speaking, you can't have his design become anything else TECHNICALLY because any other alt-mode and he would stray from their design scope. As a result, they had two options: A) Add more shit externally (what we got) B) Add more shit internally (flip-out panels, hidden spaceships bits, etc.) which would, again, have ruined the whole look. If you ask me, they took the highroad on this one and it's a bit of a tragedy that their best option was to make him look like Decepticon Scientist-class Patrick Star. Good review, though! You never fail to inform and entertain.

is it just me or does anyone else get a heavy fans project feel from alot of these figures? you'll notice it more also with the ultra magnus. fp has been gone and they used to make all this add on crap for generations figures...

How much does this guy cost? I can't help but want this thing... but all that extra crap won't make it on the shelf.
