Transformers Generations War for Cybetron SIEGE Leader Class Shockwave Chefatron Review fxfranz optimus prime bumblebee ultra magnus megatron cybertron #transformers #siege #shockwave
@@chefatron His armor parts combines into another helper of his! this could be his new sentinel and also the Homage for Energon Shockblast/Superlink Laserwave And his backpack is based from his masterpiece figure!
Zen3rd yes do! You won’t regret it, I feel like the siege line is gonna do better than the studio series only because it’s more G1 related and the masses of fans gravitate towards it! I ordered hound this evening, I feel they’re worth every dollar.
chefatron I feel like they should have done something like ultra magnus, where you instead of bulking him up, place him inside of a suit of armor of sorts. Would justify the price just that much more.
Hasbro at the pitch meeting: The fans want shockwave's gun mode, but we do not want to put a orange cap on his barrel. *flips it upside down We can call it a space ship and place a bunch of kibble to hide it.
i really like how hasbro/takara put lots of panel lines and details on this siege line it breaks the boring look of a bored nerdy character hehehe , in all hasbro/takara's line of toys (from 2000 to recent ) TWFC siege is my fav.
definitely! it gives a fresh take on the old G1 styles. SIEGE is looking to be my favorite too. i hope the next 2 installments of this WFC trilogy will be as stellar as SIEGE
Once again your honesty is the reason I watch your vids. Yeah I've been touting the fact its a voyager sold as leader for some time. Another great vid chef.
hey, thanks, bro :-) i really appreciate it. yeah, i just always try to keep it real, well until a really horrible figure come my way that i exalt it to the high heavens out of sarcasm LoL :-)
At 6:58 That's the money shot, right there! Awesome +chefatron! It's weird to see so many jumpcuts in your video, but I suspect it was because you were geeking out and just so overjoyed and playing around with the fresh plum purple Shockwave, that you had cut back to restrain your enjoyment, lol! It really is great to have that G1 Shockwave in the quality and care and engineering that we always wanted. Also, I see all the extra bits as the Sentinel Drone that Shocky used to hunt down both female Autobots and Spike and Carly, so it's like two toys in one. Certainly justifies the price point (as, who else could tangle with Ultra Magnus, you know?). Great review!
hey thanks, bro! i really appreciate it :-) hahaha glad you liked my custom space gun mode :-) yeah, i had a lot to say, but seeing that there had already been too many reviews of this figure, i thought it best to just stick with the most importants parts of my opinion and review of the figure, lest i bore viewers to death yet again with my ramblings LoL :-) by the way, is it annoying that i put some edit cuts in my reviews nowadays. i've really been working on shortening my vids. i hope i'm not overdoing it. my stats say that average view time is only 3 to 5 mins of my videos. so i'm keeping most of them below 10 minutes if i can help it.
You're welcome! I appreciate your reviews. =P I haven't noticed the jump cuts as much as in this video. A good example would be at 3:20 as I would have liked your opinion on how that size comparison works for you. I know that analytics don't lie, but find out what is happening at that 3-5 minute mark and see if that what is discussed there needs to be earlier in the video or later in the video. Small changes can make a big difference, but I do watch mostly to hear your thoughts on said figure. I hope Soundwave and Shockwave are the same size, with Megatron being the tallest. I don't want Starscream to be taller than Megatron, but I would be okay if he ends up the same height as Shockwave and Soundwave.
@@CrimsonRaptors thanks man. yeah, that bit in the video needs improvement. thanks for your inputs. yeah, i do hope the SIEGE soundwave scales well with the rest of the gang. let's hope for the best. i'm surprised TonTon hasn't smuggled it out yet from the factory in Vietnam LoL :-)
@@CrimsonRaptors i actually forgot to mention the rocker pivot joints when i was filming the bit on articulation, so shot the ankles separately, then just squeezed them in between the articulation footage and the size comparison shot. yeah, i know what your saying man. i should really do better next time and be less lazy LoL :-)
If Hasbro had simply included a deluxe figure with Shockwave, instead of the extra parts, it would have justified the price, and could have set a precedent for future double packed larger figures... I really like the figure, but won't buy it due to the extra $20 cost for what is effectively kibble...
indeed. but i doubt they'd do that kind of repack. maybe if they really wanted to make this figure a leader class, ok add armor, and perhaps add some electronics to make his blaster hand light up at least. for some G1 accuracy
@@yt_lancemicholo132 yes, definitely man. yup fxfranz was my old review channel. thanks for all the support after all these years. i really appreciate it :-)
I feel like this guy is really underrated. You may be right, it's possible they needed another Leader class and figured adding stuff to a Voyager was a good solution--but I love all the extra bits. I could take or leave the robot mode with all the extra stuff, but he comes alive in starship mode--there are so many different, interesting ways to put those space bits on him and I just love fiddling with him to see what new ship configurations I can come up with. If anything, I wish there were a few more pegs and holes in order to do even more with him. My only issue with this figure is that some of the holes are a bit loose. I'll need to try the floor polish trick I've read about... Thanks for the review--and for the inspired ray-gun alt mode!
Ultra magnus with his armor and leader price point makes sense as that is what he looks like in the cartoons and comicbook. A voyager shockwave with him in gun mode assesory would be awsome.
His ship mode is VERY cool, especially after that Purple Potato figure that made him turn into the Revenge (the Unicron-made ship from The Movie), but I do wish he could transform without disassembling the parts. That would've made this even better!
Which is even taller? Masterpiece shockwave or this shockwave?I also have another question,is masterpiece shock wave bigger than leader class or same height as leader class?or is it bigger/taller than dark of the moon shock wave?
Thank for finding the "Space Gun" configuration. Great video. This Shockwave was a great purchase and, while I was reluctant to get him at first, he's easily one of the best figures in the line.
I like the armor pieces and think they make sense for his character, fight me. (Price is still a bit much, they need to bring back the class they had between Voyager and Leader for things like this) All of that said, it's likely you're actually paying for the detail and overall quality of this figure, as ALL of the plastic is hard plastic (which is different from say Siege Megatron) more so than the add-on parts. The whole thing has weight and feels solid. Also "Megatron's trusted ally" straight up takes command and betrays him in the Marvel comic, and is even more threatening in the IDW comics.
I would love to find this figure but I'm not sure he was available at Walmart.Shockwave was one of the first g1 figures I owned, got it for my 5th birthday in 1984,never had Optimus or megatron but from what I've seen he was the best out of the 3.But like all my g1 figures they either got lost or passed down to my baby brother.
For the official alt mode, they really don’t mention in the instructions, but on the part that has the lightpiping section on top has light grey bits on the side, they unfold out, you can see it on the back of the box, and it’s just randomly moved after a step with no mention
They should've leave the armour parts as an add-on release & package Shockwave as a Voyager of his own; shame because this is admittedly the best and most accurate large sized Shockwave so far excluding the Masterpiece. Btw, he didn't transform into the giant Cybertronian worm in DOTM, it's his pet(?) named Driller.
@chefatron Well though in G1 he was a Space Gun, one could also attest that he was a Long Range Space Cannon since in Ep1 when we first see Shockwave he is transformed into something akin to that, so your configuration can said to be a stationary Space Cannon seen in the G1 episode.
I just got this figure today because o haven’t been really getting siege. But I decided to finally get it because recently I decided I want to make my own collection based on transformers devastation! I’m gonna need to go back and get older figures, like CW devastator and menasor and maybe blitzwing if we don’t get a wfc trilogy version, but we don’t have an earth mode sideswipe, and bumblebee and cassette player soundwave are gonna be hard to find. But shockwave has been a major shelfwarmer in my area
Hi there. If you want the guns handle to be smaller, you gotta use the legs flaps as the handle because it’s easier to hold but it can’t stand like yours too. But hey! It’s cooler with the add-ons that you put on the gun 😂.
I like the extra parts and the hover board drone. I just wish they figured out more intuitive ways to design these add on parts with a bit more versatility. A few neat things to mention the add on parts remind me of the recon drone that comes with the Strogg infiltrator unit in Quake Champions. (Strogg and Peeker). Also, if anyone remembers the scientist class in the Xbox wfc games had a flying artillery unit you could place somewhere to shoot enemies. You have tons of options to do similar with the add on parts. I’d have liked a few more parts though, they could have added tools that slide over the arm guns for experiments. Maybe a hidden pistol that looked like the small gun in the cartoon. Some extra platform that allowed a medical slab or base platform could have been neat. Maybe even alternate feet boots with wheeled tank treads. Honestly, I’m going to pretend the parts can fly as seperate weapons or drones. The boosters could be imagined as separate cannons. Even the hover feet part can make a unique flying artillery. The eye blaster piece could be treated like a beast machines diagnostic drone. That’s not even considering combining them into the hover drone mode. Who, knows also if someone could design a neat portable medical diagnostic set up. Considering the arms on the boosters.
The figure is cool, but not worth paying what he's going for over here. Might just wait for sale prices or even less, mainly focusing on getting SS Jetfire at the moment
i like overthetop. we have had plenty ordinary shockwaves. 1) shockwave (gun mode) 2) security drone 3) Battle armor 4) Warship (using mass shifting) that way, no need to rely on others AND transport his lab.
Some very creative gun modes you've come up with!! Nice! Like you I was really contemplating getting Ultra Mags as well but the more I saw Shockwave the more I wanted him! His sledge drone mode is actually pretty fun for what it is..I get that not alot of people are fans when Shockwave goes all O.P. Godbomber-like (I wasn't initially but I've grown to like it more than I thought I would as it kinda grew on me). His Submarine and battle cruiser modes are an added bonus to me and I can live with them, the colors are so G1 that it stands out from all the other mods out there and it helps it stand apart from the rest! Before the TF version of him came out I had the original grey Galactic Man Radio Shack/Tandy - Wave version of him back in 1983 which I somehow lost?! What do you think of Galactic - Wave version of him that's been all over the media lately?! I saw would like to own that version as he was my first but I feel he'll be to hard to aquire in my neck of the woods?! So I settled for this version instead because getting the 1985 version of S.W. was still is insanely hard to find!! So it was this or nothing but damn it hell he's a really one that almost nods every single incarnation of him we've had over the decades! Nice vid as always!!! :D
thanks man. i appreciate it :-) perhaps you can save up to get both ? well, that is the toy accurate colors version, i think. because the toy was called galactic man before hasbro used it in the transformers mythology. i like it, but i don't think i really need it since i'm good with the cartoon colors version
I believe that's why they made Shockwave like this, I believe they were hoping someone would figure out this mode even if it is fan made, it is close enough to his G1 gun form. I like it, but I won't be cracking him out his case anytime soon👍
wow! really? out here in manila, only hobby shops had him. retail stores still don't have the leader class figures (as of this post). due to port congestion in Manila. i pity the importer of hasbro items. we've fallen way behind our neighboring countries in terms of updated stocks of toys in stores.
AMAZING FAN MODE CHEFATRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the alt mode of G1 Shockwave and I will use that as Shockwave's G1 alt mode. :D When I get around to doing a review of Shockwave, may I give a shout out to you when I show off this fan mode. :D
@@chefatron My review of Shockwave is up, I did your fan mode differently, I hope you do not mind. :D Link here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-afaSXdrVRe0.html Please let me know what you think. You are one of my all time favorite reviewers of Transformers toys Chefatron, so I have to say thank you for your inspiration. :D
that armor pieces is so randomly unnecessary lol but i like the fact that when you put the armor on the alt ship mode it looks like a battle cruiser from starcraft franchise hehehe
I think it would been better if he had come with his actionmaster partner Fistfight plus maybe a gun looking as his gun mode as we see him use in the cartoon. The junk he has with him now doesnt make sense.
maybe if the extra junk could be put together as fistfight in a similar way as Cog in that way would maybe his price point be more acceptable, for the price on him is something most reviewers seem to be hanged up on, after all he is a voyager class figure sold as a leader class.
I got mine for $39.99 by price matching it on Walmart.com, a much more reasonable price if you ask me. Anyone seeking this guy out, give this a try at your local Walmart.
I actually like the figure. The extra armor looks great on alt-mode, but should stay as the sled/drone thing when he's in robot mode. That said, they're overcharging for this. Even with the extra bits.
I'm kinda on the fence on whether this is overcharging, since we're basically getting Tamara-Tomy levels of detail, paint, and decals (versus those damn bloody stickers), less hollowness and more plastic comparatively.. I mean the same argument has been had for the ultra magnus figure. But I might just be trying to justify my purchase with a figure that ive been actively enjoying so... Take that as you will lol
@@BasedVegeta yes, definitely. and i think Hasbro TakaraTomy decided to just listen to fans when they went a head in doing this 80s G1 homage for the SIEGE line. they're doing the same thing with Marvel Legends
size and price bro. you can easily spot the difference when you see them on store shelves. it used to be leader class figures were way bigger than voyager class figures. but now, hasbro takara tomy are trying to make every figure "in-scale" with everyone in the generations line, for classics and movie figures. so nowadays, a leader class figure would probably be almost the same size as a voyager class figure, but a leader would have more accessories, to justify the bigger box and price point.
Guns have gotten so much bad press in recent years that society has made it taboo to make then into toys. I am old enough to remember the old Cap Gun and revolvers that I played with back in the 70's. Some 40+ years laters, I didn't end up committing a crime with one. The reason for problems in the world isn't because of war toys, it's the people who live with every day. The figure looks great, but come on!!! Make him into the Space Gun!!
A space gun alt mode doesn't make sense within the context of scale with the other alt modes though. That's why I still dislike the original alt mode for Megatron to this day.
i had those cap guns as well growing up !!! man do i miss those. but yeah, i know right? i mentioned that space guns would be useless to hold up a store or hijack an airplane these days right? only a moron would believe a space gun toy could be dangerous, but i edited it out since YT might just flag my video for saying such things
I'm annoyed that even with the armor he's still voyager sized. I'm not willing to pay that much for this. I'll wait until it's on discount or sale in the future
cool, man. yeah, should've been a voyager or at least they could have added a small battery to make his left arm light up. that would have completely justified the price for me
This is honestly the best Hasbro can do in this day and age with everyone getting their feelings hurt and cops mistaking toys for real firearms. And no, I’m not looking for a political debate, I’m simply saying that because of today’s social issues across the globe, toy companies are pressured to not sell toys that resemble firearms, even if its purple and obviously not real. And then you have Nerf, who’s existence is based on fake guns, so I don’t know. Maybe Hasbro should tell the world to eat a bag of dicks and give us a shockwave laser anyway. Or buy the Masterpiece
Because that would scale oh-so-well every other figure... NOT. The gun alt modes from G1 were stupid, because in-universe it required size-shifting. I guess you could make the argument that Shockwave was a space canon, but that argument couldn't be made for G1 Megatron. Take off the nostalgia glasses. If you want the out of scale "gun" alt modes, just buy the masterpiece versions.
i know right? the generations line was really an homage to the G1 toys both the actual toys and the cartoons in the 80s. so even is a giant space gun wouldn't be in scale with the rest of the line, i think the homage to the 80s toys still takes precedence over scale. and when did hasbro ever care about scale anyway right? even the Studio Series line which they've been touting as "in-scale" figures are clearly not. many are in scale but not the whole line of figures. so to hell with the scale right? hahaha :-D thanks, bro. i really appreciate it :-)
