1.) View: What is the nature of reality? 2.) Meditation: Practicing being aware of reality as it is (e.g. listening to our thoughts and feelings and letting go). 3.) Conduct: Applying our insights of meditation to daily life (e.g. giving, speaking kindly, telling the truth). Doing only one practice, such as meditating, will benefit us, but only to a limited extent. All three interrelate with each other.
Well, I've heard that also some scientists view buddhist meditation and natural sciences (and science in general I guess) as two sides of the same coin. The difference is that buddhist meditation is focused inwards (empirical study of the mind) and science is focused outwards (empirical study of the surrounding world).
I had to laugh when you said 'benefit only on the cushion' as that's my experience so much :) At least guided meditation helps, but my goal is to take it much further into all aspects of life. Thanks for the videos.
What I started realizing is that I need to stay in meditation. Meaning, try to maintain some of the feeling from the meditated state. Maintain that feeling of being connected to the moment, to the now, what is happening. Doing this during a heated argument can really change the outcome of your day. Interestingly, the bible says, pray without ceasing, meaning, pray all day long. Meditation works the same. Stay mindful all day and you will feel more in control and more connected and, ultimately, more 'you'.
This man's videos have changed my life, first I applied the avoidance of desire, ignorance, jealousy, pride and anger/hatred, that's done, now with this video, I won't apply big problem but I'll apply reality, emotions and morality (that is, sharing, helping others) in my meditation, it's really very simple (and not as hard/complicated as you think). :)
Dear Rinpoche Yongey I’m immensely grateful for all of your videos. Your love ❤️ and kindness is heard in your teachings which guide us on how to proceed in our quest to transform.
Thank you for your teaching, Master🙏🙏🙏 To transform, one needs 3 things: 1) view - understand why, how, what/ nature of reality 2)meditation - develop awareness of feelings/ emotions 3)conduct - abandon (avoid unethnical behaviour) - develop (compassion/ wisdom/ patience) - discipline (avoid unethnical behaviour, accumulate virtues and try to help others & share with others) Wishing you all the best on your spiritual path💗☸️
Thank you that makes more sense to me. I was having a hard time understanding what my view should actually be, we have so many views and their are so many views to choose but focusing on the nature of reality is it, but yet where do I go from their, I think I know but yet I am just a student to life and nature.🙏🏻
Each time i watch the same video months apart i gain a deeper understanding. He has really helped me change and really helped me in my life in the last 5 months. I wonder with these Buddhist practices how i will feel in 5 years. Maybe thats why the monks are always smiling.
Just meditate, that takes care of everything else. But you have to be consistent with meditation. The changes come naturally. It is your true nature you are ultimately manifesting anyway. ✌🏻🌟
Watching your videos are really helping me to improve the quality of meditation, I am growing a sense of awareness and mindfulness in my life and it's amazing. Thanks you sir NAMASTE
Vandamee Bhante you showed me right guidance I am blessed to listen to your transformation knowledge and right path . doing experience and. getting results ,self luminosity.......
@Trevor Phillips Enterprises I just watched with subtitles, so there are (at least for me). Although it seems that for a short while in the beginning they're missing Edit: interestingly, I refreshed the video and the subtitles now kicked in right from the beginning
The Tibetan book of living and dying is a great master, guide and friend one can have to truly understand this path, the view and the tools for everyday transformation. Mediation cannot be done in isolation to everyday conduct. His words are like petals
Do inspiring, thanks so much! I've had some issues with patience lately and become irritated quite quickly. This video helped me realise I can practice conduct in these moments and apply what I've learned. Mingyur is so wise... Mindful greetings, Simple Happy Zen
for those who know " hypnosis ",, sleep to his playlist and you will knock out quicker with def positive sleep mind affirmations good and helpful for stoners trying to unstone .... 🦁
Doing those things will definitely befit you. However one should never try to meditate to " better him/herself". That would be like someone trying to make rough waters smooth water with a flat iron. It's counter productive and will always make the monkey brain seek future events. Instead you just silence the mind from desires and connect your senses with the surroundings. Mingyur Rinpoche you're an awesome guru, keep it up :)
Looking at the whole of people do they want to be enlightened ? And if they believe they want to what is their goal ? Is it to know their place in the world and how the world knows them?
Great video mingyur. you look very different without your glasses. I never really understood the concept of reincarnation. how can we know that we will be born again?
I meditate every night to Maya Band Daiqing Tana Ongmanibamai. I have visions about future. I felt I should just meditate. No vision. Next night had vision anyway. Red Buddha smiling at me. Said 10 minute meditation morning and night. 15 minute meditation afternoon 3 pm. Listen to you 10 min at 3 pm. Eat Chinese food 2 days a week. Time will increase weekly.
Are "Meditation with awareness" and "Manifestation by Visualization" related ? If yes, could you please explain this knowledge to me and guide how to implement it in our daily practice ? Thank you.
Hello, I thought I had replied a few days ago but I'm not seeing the comment. Sorry. Rinpoche has several books, the main ones are "The Joy of Living," "Joyful Wisdom," and "Turning Confusion Into Clarity" and he has a new book, a memoir of his near-death experience while on wandering retreat, which is coming out soon. It is called "In Love With the World." Kind regards, Beth K. Tergar International
So how would I go about applying to view aspect of this? I meditate and am a generally nice guy, I apply my morals to everyday life and offer a helping hand when I see that it's needed. But I still can't grasp the nature of meditation, I don't understand the why or the how. When ever I meditate, my mind is silent with the exception of a few thoughts. I am 'aware' of where I am in the moment, of the sounds around me, but I can never feel myself reaching a deeper level of meditation. However, it still seems to relax me. I have aphantasia, a complete lack of visual imagery, so do you think this might be a factor? I've heard that visualization is only a small part of meditation but there's no other explanation for what I am doing wrong. Is my experience normal? Can someone please offer me some advice because I'm really in need of an Aha moment. I'm really struggling the most with the "View" aspect of things.
My 2 cents We as human have one soul and one mind. Through meditation and awareness, we able to recognize who we are and we won't mix up soul with mind. As human, we might have five poison(as in Buddhism); desire, anger, delusion or ignorance, pride, and jealousy. Therefore, meditation and awareness can help us to recognize the five poison and it is depend on us either want fix the poison or not. After achieve meditation, there is three level stage for achieve Buddha. As I know, only person who can achieve meditation who can begin the step to walk on first level stage.
You see, the "view" part is the likes of me and you watching these videos to better understand what we are getting into. Or perhaps reading a book about mindfulness etc. Most mindful teachings generally say the same thing: "be aware of now". Be aware of your presences - whether that means being aware of your thoughts and emotions or physical sensations, and your thoughts and feelings about those sensations - but the more "study and contemplation" we do, the more accurate we can build a picture or visualisation of how we might best approach mindfulness. As far as your mediation, it seems to me that you are doing well. Keep doing what you're doing. And with practice and patience you will succeed. Take care of yourself :)
This is a 2 year old comment... Are you still meditating? Any updates? In my experience, meditation has had different "stages" or "aspects". One of the processes involved includes a "divorce" between identification with thoughts and identification of thoughts. This is like what the top comment explained with difference to soul and mind: the recognition that you are not your mind; you are more than your mind. It is kind of like going from one person to two internally. Initially, we are entangled with thought, eg "I am angry". But we can learn to move to "I notice anger (and I let it go)". The difference? It is not "YOU" that is angry, but a "you" can experience and notice anger. What does this do? When you learn to make and experience this distinction, you can better direct yourself - your moods, thoughts, actions. You're not ruled by the mind or emotions any more. The practise of focusing on breath, practising noticing when you're thinking and not focusing on breath then returning to your focus, is a good place to start for this. It is the beginning of training your focus. Then, you want to increase the speed of noticing / returning to your breath, until you're able to reach the point where your mind won't wander. This takes time and practise. Learning this will help if you ever have anxiety or unhelpful thoughts etc, as as soon as you recognise those thoughts, you can redirect your mind to stop the chattering. There's so many lessons which come from meditation, this is just the beginning. I hope this has been helpful! No need to push or judge yourself, go at your own pace compassionately, and just persist with the breathing practise :)
Shantanu l like to feel my heart beats. when i direct attention there my mind creates music. maybe what you give attention to directs what mind creates. there is a saying in my country that says "one who sings means no harm" (doesnt think of evil)
