this year honda civic especially was notorious for transmission issues. I am pretty sure it was only this model year though (2001). unfortunately this is the one you have. I am pretty sure in '02 they fixed it.

I believe it is the stato clavin...or maybe the headlight fluid

I have a 2001 Civic manual and it doesn't sound quite right in first and second going slow but operates fine. Once in a while it doesn't shift into gear and I have to try again. That happens for 1st and reverse but not often. Otherwise I have been putting Redline in it for a few years and better results than the OEM ATF. I assume you may of retired your Civic? Might do that sooner or later myself :'(

If my shift boot does that, i'm going to have to get some tape.

I dump my manual MTF oil every 50k and refill. im at 180k so far with no issues. Oh, and there are videos on here showing how to shuf off that SRS light :)
