We're behind the wheel of the first Land Rover product for TestDrive. This 2014 Range Rover Sport SE comes well equipped for a used luxury SUV, and gives us a good idea of what the Land Rover brand has to offer customers. Our full tour and review of this vehicle goes over the technical specifications including the 3.0L Supercharged V6 engine, 8 speed transmission, 4WD system, Terrain Response 2 system, and the other technical details about this mid-size luxury SUV. JLR set out to make this second generation Range Rover Sport better for on-road driving, and we discuss some of the ways they've achieved that.
We go over the exterior design and features on this vehicle, including some of the optional extras you might be able to find on vehicles for sale. We discuss the design choices made by Land Rover and how this compares to the newer facelift models, and other Land Rovers sold today. The inside gets the same treatment with our thoughts on the features and tech found, as well as the overall layout and design of the passenger cabin.
We take the 2014 Range Rover Sport SE on a real-world road test to talk about our independent fuel economy test results, and how this SUV performs, drives, and handles on the road. Our impressions of the Supercharged V6 engine, how the performance is on it, and the overall quietness of the vehicle on the road.
We wrap up our comprehensive retro review on this Range Rover Sport by comparing it side to side to a new 2022 Land Rover Defender, discussing how some of the interior trim pieces are still being used today, and how the Terrain Response 2 system is found on both. We then go over some common problems and issues with this second generation Range Rover Sport so you're better informed if you're in the market to buy one.
