Trash picking day for Curbside Treasures. When you have limited storage, you practice quality over quantity with Selective Garbage Picking..... so what did we find??
Renee, they used to bring those wood and metal items by the ship container loads to sell in America’s antique primitives markets. You did get a good train set! I think you’ll be surprised. Your area seems to offer a lot of opportunities for house clean out services. Put together an all female clean out team. I bet you would have 1/2 million subs and views in no time! Rosie the riveter was an American icon. The Moose could be next! We all have faith in you.
I would LOVE to get into estate clean outs. Hard work, as I has the opportunity to help out a friend that was in the business a few years ago. But, that's the main avenue of getting items first hand... maybe one day! (Also received your other package, which I will open up this weekend :0) Thanks again!)
I was saying " take the trains ! " over and over .... and you got em ! Way to go 😌🙌..... and you look adorable in the train hat too 😌 Your home looks amazing ..... a tour possible ? Wishing you fantastic finds 👍
Nice finds! When you picked up the level, I was over here on the other side of the computer screen encouraging you to take it. 😊 (Happy that you heard me!)
Awesome finds Renee. I'm sure the trains are worth more than you think and worth researching further. That bucket is also worth quite a bit, people love them as planters or even dried flowers displayed in them.
My thoughts exactly. Also the bucket is hand made, the design is Scandinavian and it has a metal barrel bottom and wire support toward the top. Wildscotsman1 is right, awesome finds indeed. Here comes some more research.
That red bucket is just cool! I don’t know why anyone would part with that. Those colored vases are very popular decorating colors right now. They should do well at the flea...if you choose. Good haul! Have a great weekend!
I believe the brass fitting is a flow reducer, they can be installed if your incoming water pressure from the city is too high. I am constantly amazed at what people throw away. Neat old Mason jar.
The trash picking vids are always, to me, exciting. It's almost like being there. The trains could be worth something to a train enthusiast who knows what they're looking for. Thanks for sharing your adventure. P.S. great hand crafted bucket...worth doing some research on it. Great picks.
another great video.. my son and I were like take the trains!! we love trains have a platform every christmas that we set up it was my husbands when he was a little boy.. I love holiday vintage anything...we sent you a box..my son who is in his 20's and I love to go thrifting and finding cool stuff.. I cant wait til you see what we sent you.. alot of pics and old papers..the vintage cards were for my brother when he was born...also the one newspaper has a pic of my Mom when she was young.. she worked at chambers works..anyway really enjoy your channel its right up my alley.... now we want to try garbage picking..
@@OriginalNethead yes it is Asian, could be antique....they can go over 100. Yours is the largest I have ever seen....they have a name which cannot remember....
Brewery kit may have done well at the flea mkt..... That bucket is cool ... would look great holding kindling by a fireplace or umbrellas or something. I'm glad you did take the trains ... my brother was a train nut & when we liquidated his estate his trains were worth a LOT of money. Model railroad engineers/enthusiasts are willing to pay quite a bit for the right pieces and will pick up other "less desirable" pieces to complete a layout.
Trains were put around everyones tree in the 50s and 60s that had kids then didn't see them much after that. My brother has my dad's from the early 1920s. There huge cars made of metal. Two of my brothers were engineers as well as my uncle for Burlington Northern Railway so it was fitting for him to get the trains. Thanks for sharing.
The bucket. Depends on if it's a reproduction or original. If original they have one not painted that sold for $125usd in 2015. That looks the same. I just googled vintage wooden well bucket and searched by image. You may have found a proper old treasure there. Cool finds all round.
Skiing? Have you ever seen those people who have that huge wipe out? Where the snow looks like a big huge snow puff and they tumble and tumble? That was me. The next day my side of my leg had a huge bruise that took forever to go away. I didn't feel a thing after doing some shots, do a run back down the slope and repeat all day.
Try to check the train engines out at least on eBay...Some of them are worth some good amounts! Good score! If you take a picture of the engines and place them in google images you may get a match so you know which ones you have. Remember they are different size gauges you can find on Wikipedia.
I love the bucket 😊 I think I would plant flowers in it or wash it really good and put rolled up towels in it for the bathroom. Love your videos , I’m new here. 👍
Your yard is beautiful...love that stone outbuilding and your home of stone. Wonder if someone broke a leg skiing?? I'd be grabbing those Lionel and HO trains!! That alone would make my day, as I'm an ardent collector of Lionel. Even though that stuff was low end, it's still worth saving. Like your philosophy about the ski stuff! You did grab the train gear!! Those trains do go back to the sixties. Set up a Christmas layout...it's a great hobby. I do it every year. The HO equipment is not highly valuable, but popular among modelers.
Nice saves! It amazes me what people put in the trash in your part of the US. You’d think they would offer the trains to a neighborhood child or sell on Craigslist before trashing. Even if not old, the engines are probably worth a decent amount. Little plastic train people are not cheap either! Love the bucket too!
I collect and sell trains in my online store. My hubby is a train collector and has a big set up. Anyhoot....most Tyco and Lionel are not worth very much. There are some people who may overpay, lol.... but the box you got there is not worth selling individually. I would sell them at a box price. Say all for $50.00. They are also 2 different gauges or sizes of trains in your box (HO and O). I think you could easily ask for $5.00 each for the vintage train hats. Like you said.... you got them for free... so great score.
The ski poles were nothing special. 10-15$ tops and that would be out here in Colorado. And ski bindings are constantly changing, so older ones are worthless. So good idea to pass on them 👍👍
Great Finds .... You keep this up and you will be the Queen of Trash Picking .... Taco is already the King of Trash Picking!!! I know nothing about trains, but old wooden bucket is GREAT!!
@@PaperandMoose Yes, you do!!! My youngest son let me go to a dumpster where they were cleaning out an old house, there were several old picture albums, lots of the bail-type canning jars, etc. There my son and I cleaned out a 2 story house that the people that leaved there "never" threw anything away. There were many gems in that house, but where I made the most money was from 4 old trunks that were packed full of old ADs and letters from in and around our town. It is amazing how many people wanted anything with the name of our town on it from years ago!!! But them again I collect some of that stuff too! I could turn into a hoarder in very easily!!!
@@sharonnowlin2297 I'm so jealous!! I would have loved to have gone through not only the trunks, but the whole house - sounds like it was filled with treasures! Does your son do estate cleanouts? (Lucky him if he does! Hard work for sure, but the things that you find!)
@@PaperandMoose That cleanout was one one in a lifetime for me. I found lots of other stuff, but the old papers made lots of money for me. He doesn't do cleanouts, but the helped me with this one just for the old heavy scrap metal that was in the house. Stove, refrig, freezer and lots of other stuff!
I know I pass up on items that could sell, but for me, it's about taking what I like, what I like to sell, and what I can store. I'd rather be selective in my pickings and enjoy the process of reselling versus filling my car up with Mr. Beer boxes and not have the room to bring ephemera to the flea market. Garbage picking for me is more about rescuing the older, vintage and unique items. If I were garbage picking as a main source of income or flea market inventory, then I would be apt to take more of what is left out on the curb. I'd have to buy a bigger vehicle and find more storage space though haha.
Your camera work is great. Now I understand why you don't pick up things like the Home Brewery machine!! I enjoy your channel and have shared it. By the way, you look very cute in that cap!
Thank you Jacqueline! I like to pick what I like and while I know that many items that I leave behind would sell, I like to think that perhaps someone else will come along that will actually enjoy the item and can use it. Plus, only so much space for things!
Hey Paper Moose go to What the Hales utube channel he just had a storage locker with trains in it and he had a guy that new a lot about them .They can be worth lots and the use them for parts and such .That being said love that you and Taco pick up stuff for each other .💕💕💕💕 LOVE THE HUNTS WITH YOU 🐱🐱🐱🐱💕💕💕💕😎
I'm sure you'll do well on the trains. They're so collectible that even the plastic cars are liable to be worth something (do your homework). :) Good to see your subscriber count growing.
Funny I had a sale and we sold my skis and my sister's to a guy Who made chairs out of them, believe me you did not miss out They don't sell for much, fun haul
Enjoyed your video, thanks for taking us along trash picking! I found a nice cardboard box today, but that is about all I ever see around here The red bucket is Asian, probably China. I think not a well bucket but probably one of pair that would be carried on a yoke. They brought them and other similar “ primitives” in by the container loads about 15 -20 years ago. I saw them stacked to the ceiling in an antique wholesale shop I used to stop in. They also would have bunches of primitives and old tools from Eastern Europe Hard to date these things, most look older then they are. I often found this stuff later identified as American Primitives. ...OK I used to fool with a Chinese Gal whose family exported antiques, she said they would travel the countryside trading radios and fans for old furniture and etc which were exported to the USA. Today they have a Jaguar dealership selling Jaguars made in China...Its a crazy world , eh? The best thing I think you found were the Lee Railroad hats, probably would sell easily on eBay for at least $30-50 each...older ones can go for lots more. I would have grabbed that home brewing kit ( only used once!) probably could have sold it OK
As you said, it's hard to tell because it has the old look... but nowadays, it's easy to make anything look old and with the "primitive" craze, slap that word on just about anything and it sells!
It is probably a well bucket, but I would not exclude that it was used a hundred and years ago in a milking farm, then it was painted and transformed by the tar paint that can be seen, in a plant holder with soil. I think but I am not sure, however good find and the trains are beautiful and are worth much seen the size, they would be worth more if they were metal as you well know, but wait and do some good research, maybe on Ebay. Good the piece of hydraulics, with brass and other metal, excellent present x TS. CIAO from Venezia.
I think that bucket has some age to it. It looks like it might've had a leather strap over parts of the handle to make it more comfortable to tote and easier to grip. I would use an earth-friendly stripping product to get the paint off the handle and I think you could get a good buck for it.
just noticed the paint is all over the bucket, so would probably strip the whole outside of the bucket. I just did this on an old item I picked up that had been hideously painted and it turned out really nice with very little effort.
Very nice finds Renee! Never saw a bucket like this - it looks great. I don't know anything about trains but this black one looks valuable for me. Wish you a joyfull and successfull fleamarket day tomorrow - also for me in Germany it is fleamarket-Saturday. Greetings!!!
