I used to hear about AMN being a nightmare for travel nurses just due to the compensation where I heard some nurses wouldn't get paid for a month(s), but that was a few years ago pre Covid. I'm not sure if it changed. The compact licenses work for 30 plus states but I've heard some states like Massachusetts and California nursing licenses were a pain in the ass to get. As a travel nurse make sure you turn in a paper copy of your hours to see if they match up to the Kronos hours from the hospital. Best thing about travel nursing is getting a weekly paycheck versus waiting two weeks to get a paycheck. Thank you about AYA Healthcare.

I decided to go with AMN for my first contract-after applying to so many agencies-and my recruiter was very sweet so I am hoping we develop a great partnership and bond in the future. AMN offers travel reimbursement and license reimbursement. Since I am going to CA for my first assignment, they will pay for the licensure after my assignment begins.

Yesss that’s amazing. I met many travelers with AMN & they said they had a good experience with the agency! Best of luck with your travels in Cali🤍

My recruiter with AYA is actually pretty good. She responds very quickly and she does fight for me on some issues I have had. The pay I think is pretty good for travel rad tech. I did get scrub reimbursement, license reimbursement, I have Roth IRA I contribute to every month . So far my payroll reps have been decent ( I have completed 3 assignments with them so far ), I have not always gotten my first day instructions so I would just text the super and ask lol. One weird thing I just experienced with AYA is holiday pay. Some were getting holiday pay when they didn’t work it and I did not.
@ccalexander1924
@ccalexander1924 2 года назад
I don’t think there is anything wrong with discussing pay. If you were being paid fairly then there wouldn’t be an issue. I had that discussion with one job. I am currently with AYA. I have worked with Areus and Titan in the past. AYA was by far the biggest pain in my a$$ ti get things started with the amount of ridiculous things I had to submit. However , so far I haven’t had issues. So far my pay has been correct. My recruiter has been pretty good at getting back to me. I am about to use the insurance so I will find out how good it is !

I love your mug omg beta blockerzz🤩 Also since you're not doing travel nursing anymore, may I ask what hospitals you recommend in CA that treats their travel nurses (for the majority) well? I am considering travel nursing, but am very much on the fence because I would hear horror stories from other travel nurses how they didn't receive any help from the staff/toxic environment. This pushed them to the breaking point of cancelling their contracts. Btw, you're soooo pretty 😍
@SRNAPaul

Thanks Anh!🤍 yes, so Stanford in Northern California and Cedar Sinai in LA were both great level 1 trauma hospitals. Loved working in the ICUs in both. As a traveler, I worked in all of the ICUs. There is toxic staff/environment everywhere you go unfortunately. I just keep a professional and positive attitude. Remember that you’re only there for 13 weeks. Get that experience, $, and enjoy the location! Definitely felt like I was on vacation the whole time I was in Cali with all the fun things to do and felt like I only went to work sometimes 😂 I highly recommend!

Well basically reimbursement is a total scam in the first place. The agency's just take this money out of the contract money that is offered for that contract. Just like any license reimbursement, or orientation money. Its took directly out of the contract money so your paying for this in the end yourself out of your own money.
@OneCosmi
@OneCosmi Год назад
That's not true. The reimbursement is paid out of the agency's budget; your hourly pay should remain the same.
@ghettohey2388
@ghettohey2388 Год назад
@@OneCosmi Sorry but it is true and where do you think the budget comes from. The contracts. Ive been travel nursing long enough to know this. And any stuff you have to get such as physical, vaccines, tests are take out of the contract. Your recruit or agency isnt going to tell you this but it is. Hell even some of good agencies wont even tell you.
@OneCosmi
@OneCosmi Год назад
@@ghettohey2388 but it shouldn't come out of your pay. You should still get the pay that was agreed upon..the agency just absorbs the cost from their profits.

Are there staffing Ratios in the contracts? For example..Nurse To Patient..1:5(stepdown) or 1:2(ICU) for safety issues or the employer can give you what they want and you have to put up with it till the contract ends...I've heard some horror stories too(Med-surg 1:8~ no tech!)..There should be something in the contract if they give you too many patients..that the nurse has the right too forfeit the contract without repercussions of being black balled.. the employer can get rid of you without any reason🤷
@SRNAPaul
@SRNAPaul 2 года назад
Hi Tracy, I’ve had issues with this in one contract I had. The only state that has been good with ratios is California. In other states, they would push unsafe ratios because i worked during the covid surge. I had to end a contract due to unsafe ratios and I didn’t get any repercussions because I explained how unsafe it was and my license would’ve been on the line.

How do you negotiate a contract when venturing into contract nursing? My recruiter is friendly but pushy to accept a particular contract. After I’ve read the binding contract it essentially states that the agency and the company, that I would be working for, are covering their butts. And a nurse can be thrown under the bus and deal with any consequences on their own without any support from the agency or the family they would be working for. Sounds sketchy.
