0:21 Yeah, this. I don't know why people talk about redeeming a $4000 first class ticket with their points and acting like it didn't cost them anything. "How I got a $2000/night hotel room for free!" No, it cost you 200,000 points which could have gotten you 10 nights at a regular hotel you'd normally stay in.

Yes that's true. But the point is that you wouldn't normally pay $4k-$5k for first class tickets or hotels so it's a way to get something that you wouldn't normally get. The regular stuff I would pay for either way so I don't see as value in just redeeming for that. Just my thoughts

@@VenkataY Yes, it depends on what the person values. For me, a guy with two little kids, I value being able to stay in a Holiday Inn Express for 5 nights with free breakfast over 1 night in a luxury suite for the same amount of points.

To clarify what I said in the video, I do not judge how people use their points, I just roll my eyes at people online who act superior because they are getting so much "value" out of their points compared to others, when in reality they are making a choice to pay for a high end luxury that they wouldn't pay cash for and they then go on to brag about how smart they are. 🙄

I agree. This was a different kind of video from the typical RU-vidr using his Amex or Chase points to get a first class flight and a stay at a luxury hotel. It's much more applicable to the rest of us. Would you rather burn 200,000 points for a single stay at a JW Marriott or multiple stays at a Choice or Wyndham hotel? There's no right answer. My wife would probably take the former but I would take the latter. 😀

Congrats Adam!! I stayed last week at a Marriott, I was able to book for 16k points for $364 price, giving me 2.27 cents per point (if I'm doing my math right) which would be approximately almost 4 times the average value of a Marriott point, so you can find great deals, even on short stays, you just have to dig LOL

Thank you for sharing that story. I was skeptical about whether my Citi Premier card could give me any good hotel deals thru points transfers other than with Choice which only has budget hotels. It's good to know that you can still find good deals with Wyndham at a 1:1 points transfer ratio.

I love the Wyndham Earner Business card. Vacasa is a great way to use Wyndham points. They charge by the # of bedrooms. 15,000 per bedroom. We’re staying at a place in Maui for 5 nights for 75,000 points. Would have cost $3,500.

I transferred Amex pts to British Airways for 2 tickets direct round trip PHL to Key west. It would've cost like $1100 but Amex ran a 40% promo transferring to British Airways so I got the tix for like 25000 points. 4.45cents/pt!!

On the other end of the parenthood spectrum, we are often traveling with small children so while our redemptions are not luxury/glamorous, it is still so helpful to save on hotels or flights where possible.

I also have 2 cap1 cards, one debit one credit, and they still send me offers for other cards. I wouldn't doubt you should be able to as long as you have good standing with your other cap1 cards

Yes u can There's no limit how many credits card u can have with capital one There's only one rule. U can only apply for a card every 6 months. I have almost all the capital one cards. Quicksilver, savorone, venture, Walmart and venture x. I'm a big fan capital one

Or u can upgrade from venture reward to the X or the quicksilver to the X. U can do it online Adam has a video with the link how to upgrade or product change for capital one

You definitely can get it! The y used to have a two card personal limit, but I'm here to tell you that on the 28th of March I got approved for the Venture X already having a Venture and Quicksilver. And even though they have the only open an account every six months rule, I actually applied at a little over 3 months and got approved. (Mind you, I think this is only for the Venture X... I"m not too sure if you can do it with ANY of their cards, but I'm walking proof that you definitely can with the VX. :)

Agree, usually find the best value/ locations with an air bnb. Use my Wells Fargo propel and get 3% back. When I go through Chases booking portal I could get 5% back yeah but it’s usually hotels that are typically located on highways away from the action.

Adam, Awesome video. Thanks for sharing that is a little over 3 cents per point that is so good. Capone is stepping up there game and great to see the value of those points in a Wyndham hotel. You are going there to visit your son in college. It is a place to Rest your head and have a few amenities with the hotel. It looks decent but you aren't planning a extravagant vacation. That is a good value and it's no money out of your pocket. can you use points to pay for food at the hotel? what is the redemption rate for that? Appreciate the sharing of your experience.
