Hello, thx for the videos. I'm taking my pension in 2 yrs and am already planning my life abroad. My question is, at some point we'll be too old to travel. Where do you park yourself eventually? My concern is if you give up Canadian residency, where else can we go for an old age home or care.. that is my biggest concern. Once I'm too old, do I come back to Canada? What is your plan of action? If we need paliative care eventually, Canada has the best plan as they can't refuse any Canadians into old age homes. Of course they take your pension check but what do you do at 80?

Hi Nancy, Thanks for watching and for taking the time to connect with us. As far as we are concerned you would have nothing to lose. Go slow travel around the world and enjoy yourself. We usually spend 3 months at a time in a country. We have excellent private healthcare. As to when you are too old to travel and if you have not settled anywhere- you can always return back to Canada anytime. Your benefits are reinstated with in 3 months.You never lose your citizenship. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes and for taking the time to connect with us. Well its good to maybe to start thinking and maybe start planning. Jill really struggled with this and was quite fearful. We shared in other videos the processes.Between the two of us we spend $5200. / month or $2600. pp Canadian. We could certainly do it for less. We are trying to show what is possible. We head to Europe in a few weeks and then Australia - We are going to show you how to live rent free. As a single I do wish I had a partner to share a life like that but right now, just looking for a place to spend winters then back to ottawa and the cottage for summers until I find my happy place. Nice video.

I was single for 20 years and then I met Randy 5 years ago on match. 😂 Through out our travels in Southeast Asia we would always meet so so many mature single women and men and they were just going about seeing the world. There are also so many Facebook groups for solo travelers another good way to connect with likeminded people. We head to Europe for 4 months soon We are house sitting and pet sitting and staying for free, This is another great way to see the world.Wow you should some of the places we are staying in! You’ve described my exact situation (paid for house in Ottawa and a cottage just outside Barry’s Bay). I find it tricky to afford the expenses/weather of the city/nation… but LOVE the rustic cottage bordering Algonquin Park. Although I have the partner (Wife - over 30 years together now).

Thank you for sharing. Your year in a review brought tears to my eyes as well. When you said that you monthly spend is around $5,200 per month did you mean Canadian or US dollars? Also, would you be able to share a high level itinerary of all the countries that you both went to? Thank you.

Hi there Todd, Thanks for watching and taking the time to connect with us. On average we were running $5 200. 🇨🇦 / month for the two of us. I think it all depends what you like to do and where you want to go. We scuba dive a lot and Randy is a golfer. Example - we were in Bali for a few weeks. You do not need to stay in American brand hotels to be safe and to feel comfortable. We stayed at a gorgeous little place and it was nicer than the Four Seasons - but you have to remain open minded. Our accommodations including breakfast was about 40.🇨🇦. Food is so cheap! There are places for 25- 35 and they are nice too. If you stay longer you negotiate the prices. We are heading to Europe and Australia and all our accommodation is free… we want to experience it first before we start promoting this new way of travel… so stay tuned! Cheers, Jill and Randy

So, it is nice to hear that it is possible to stay in Asia at quality hotels, but at a lower price point. Free accommodation in Europe and Australia, I will definitely be looking forward to that!

Awesome video folks, We retire in 8 days and can't wait to get out in the world. I am not sure if any of your videos covered this but, you must still be Canadian citizens so how long can you stay out of Canada in a year and still make sure you keep your health coverage for later in life?

The beauty about Mexican residency is that you actually don't have to live or even stay in Mexico. We now have private medical insurance and we are covered world wide.
