I feel like Traxx has been one of the most innovative DJ's around since the 1990's. I've seen him play at least 25-30 times, maybe more, and he never disappoints. He loves music. He was also a very nice person to me and my friends when talking before and after events where he played. He always was so passionate about his music, and I think some people maybe mistake that for arrogance.
Never met the man, but would defintely look him up after a dj-set. This man understands a mix , and even more important; the impression you leave behind of what you want the crowd to hear.
I was in an indie rock band in 96 or so and he was playing a party a friendput together in the rehearsal building. His knowledge and musicality changed my life. A true force and humble af.
Melvin is always crazy and passionate like that. You’ll never see anyone more into his sets than him. His sets are always fucking genius as fuck. Forever been one of my hometown Chicago favorites. Guaranteed to make your body jack out of control every single time. Seriously a timeless Chicago treasure.
saw this guy play at Islington Mill in Salford, had a long chat with him after the gig, such a cool guy really inspiring, brought 2 bangs of records! More DJs should be like traxx
TRAXX is a true musical virtuoso talent I have had the pleasure to have known as a friend, family and artist over many years. So dedicated and passionate is he towards his craft and it shows - if you ever have the opportunity to see him throw down live it's an experience you should not miss!! Love you Mel ❤️
I remember having a conversation with him in the late 90’s and asking who his favorite DJ was and Melvin proceeded to school me about Mr Hardy!!!! It was the first time I had ever heard about him
How much of this set did you have to listen to before you decided "this guy is fucked in the head"? Was he rocking it up until 40:14? What exactly bothered you at 40:14? Maybe you're feeling lost because you just listened to +40 min of music you did not know existed? While you watch Ableton and Protools, and Traktor tutorials look into Jakbeat. If you hold your tongue you might learn something from this guy at jak-nation website. No babyshit games. This guy is the real deal.
i am a man of limited means. However I will sell one of my niece's kidneys in order to purchase Modern Electronic Element Series III just off the back of listening to this guy.
always loved his mixing and musical aesthetic. He is a master at his craft, it's too bad he is such a prick to people who admire his work. I think his attitude goes far beyond "struggling" while engulfed by drones. I truly think he, like MANY other DJ's and producers, feels that he is simply above everyone and too good to have to deal with the lowly masses. I've found most artists secretly feel this way. It's called narcissism, and Melvin is most definitely a narcissist. It's a total turn off.
Dude is doing his best with his life. Liking you isn’t required or something to shame someone about. Dude been off the deep end many times just be glad I got to see it in person
I personally think if you are going to have controllers and decks that the turntables should be next to the mixer. Not the other way around. You don't need to adjust much with some tap to the tempo controllers. Much more energy and focus is needed with beat matching with turntables. Just my opinion. Especially when you got a Chicago legend mixing it up proper. Traxx never disappoint.
DJ Traxx 2nd and Jackson Warehouse Oakland CA fame. This is the DJ version of the band Munchausen by Proxy in Yes Man the movie with Jim Carey 👍👍 Wicked 👍 Off Tap
you are totally right, he is. People just don't know. If they spent some time with the dude, they would realize. Being a good artist doesn't excuse a shitty attitude.
dude Traxx art of the world....... I don't know about you guys in cats out there do this guy can really f*** the s*** up I remember an ATP or parties since holy s*** in the early nineties he knew her to f*** it up throw it down that's alright I gotta say
It's probably a phuture 303 track, idk. However there was a LOT of acid house in Chicago during the 80's (fact:In 1986 the output of acid tracks in Chicago alone was 1060 in 9 months), And Melvin Moore (aka DJ Traxx) is a DJ that knows his stuff, and where to dig for hidden gems. This was a damn good video
Hey yo, pls can anyone tell me where to find some more informations about traxx person? (Wikipedia, vita, etc.) Hard to find something about him, cause the word "trax" and "traxx" is used so often in different relations. I am fascinated since years from his work and want to know more... :-) Thanks!
God damnit... I'm sorry... But, THE DJ SHOULD NOT BE THE ONE ACTING THE MOST RIDICULOUS! Especially when he's dropping gold like this. Start dancing kids
the point of dekmantel festival is big names small numbers outside in a forest. Only 5000 per day were able to to attend. Plus Boiler room never really has groovy crowds save for a few. Its about the music.
nah, he is just rude. If you ever meet him, you'll realize. Maybe one day he will wise up and realize it's only hurting him in the end and driving away people who respect his art. Some people never forget or forgive being treated like shit for no reason other than a narcissistic DJ thinks he is above everyone else. It seems his reputation must be spreading, because I read a lot about how uncool he is on the internet lately.
I think you misunderstood. I'm perfectly fine with the dj acting a fool! I just wanna see the crowd act MORE of a fool since they don't have to concentrate on spinning music they have the ability to just enjoy it
