only major major flaw with xmaxx out of the box is the steering servo as well.... There is an upgrade available from traxxas,, of course there are even better steering servos out there and you have to cut up the chassis a bit..
I’m definitely getting one. My Rustler 4x4 VXL was a moderately successful race truggy racing against Teknos. I have a win at Park Lane Hobbies, a 2nd place finish at Pit Stop Hobbies, three 3rd place finishes and a couple top 5 finishes at LCRC in mini truggy so it’s a very capable race car. I can’t wait to get the Ultimate and see how much better it is than the 2019 version. I had to run a thick center diff so it could make triples since it lacked acceleration with 100k in the center diff. I put 500k in the center diff at the beginning of the season and don’t touch it all season because I know as the silicone oil breaks down the car will get better.
Awesome video, I'm now thinking about getting one of these trucks i already have a Slash 4x4 Ultimate and an Ultimate upgraded Hoss but i've never owned a Rustler either 2wd or 4x4 before. I was a big fan of RCNightmare back when it was you and Brandon i especially loved the XO-1 and 5ive-T videos you made almost 12 years ago.
RPM all the way, for this little black duck!!! If I buy aluminum and it should happen to bend, in a gnarly crash. I have to buy more aluminum, because it doesn't like to be bent back. But I do love the sway-bars 😎
We’re in a weird spot with traxxas right now. The vxl rustler and hoss are currently out of stock for what is likely a 9080 kit update, since the BL 2s trucks have been shipping with it for a while. And the slash is on sale right now basically to clear inventory. It really will leave the ultimates in a weird place because the 9080 kit is arguably better than aluminum upgrades. At a minimum they’ll need to bring steel CVDs over and that’d probably drive the price up another 40-50.
I've never had a Rustler but this one does look almost perfect out of the box.. Good stuff. Arrma has a new Kraton 6s "Extreme" which is just hitting hobby shops next week... It's sort of like this, like a Kraton 6s ultimate ! ... they made a lot of improvements over the other Kraton 6s EXB v1.. I am have one reserved when it comes in my LHS next week! Just though you might be interested in that. Ho ho ho!
So I grabbed the Stampede and Rustler bl2s , swapped them both out for Hobbywing 4s combos . The ultimate is nice but I feel the HD models with plastic will hold up better to extreme bashing imo .
Cool never had a rustler 4x4 i have a slash 4x4 loaded with all the aluminum it's setup as a road car ...shiny stuff has never won me any races but dang does that new rustler look amazing

Yeah they both out of the box go the same speed. But if you upgrade your motor to clock 35 to 60 mph if you bump something with the plastic model... let's just say it doesn't end well.
Could have took 2 minutes and actually add up the cost to buy all these upgrades. It’s a significant savings buying them up front. For an extra 100 bucks?! It’s a no brainer
im looking to get back into rc, ive decided on getting a traxxas. now im really on the fence with 3. the ruslter ultimate the slash ultimate and the maxx widemaxx...if im just looking for a solid basher which outta the 3 would be best?
What in the world...did not expect to come across the Quarter Pounder doing RC reviews. To new RC people: Traxxas is a trap, buy Arrma or Team Associated or Losi and enjoy a real hobby vehicle. Arrma in particular has insane entry level vehicles for a fraction of the cost of a Traxxas. And they don't have a proprietary batter connector that don't work with anything else.
Is there any chance you would do a budget basher build video J? With affiliate links? And... There's no reason (but time, commitment and demand lol, no biggies) why you couldn't go the whole hog and get some branded components and really make a mark in RC
An RC Nightmare rc skin/ sticker pack is probably the easiest way in... Do you know much about the drone fpv world? I like how Joshua Bardwell has become a brand... I was deep into building drones until i realised how bad i was at flying them. I'm considering switching to RC, but I'd like to do skate parks with fpv goggles and a dji camera on the car.
What's a solid reasonably priced one for a child? He's almost 3 so something that can handle some damage. The cheap ones are slow and break easily. Yes, i understand he's going to break any of them.
I just want to throw this idea out there to you. I have yet to see an R/C channel take a Kit R/C, like a tekno,TLR, mugen or the such and compare them to these RTR R/C's. The hobby is so flooded with the traxxas/arrma RTR stuff (I own both) but anyone new rarely sees the quality difference with "Race kits" and "RTR's." My TLR trucks blow my arrma and traxxas out of the water, and with a kit you get your choice of electronics....not the RTR under powered stuff that you really have no choice over...and at this point if you are just going to replace the RTR electronics off the rip why are you not looking at kits? And just because they are considered or called "Race kits" does not mean they can't do everything an RTR can. ......Oh and yeah you have to build your kit.....which will help teach the average R/C enthusiast how to repair it so the hobby shop don't have to do it for the average R/C enthusiast. mad respect for you sir!
@@TEExCASH I have never had a problem getting any parts, see if you ask your local hobby shop...they will order what you need. And here is the problem, every YT channel pushes RTR stuff because of Convenience. I breaks my heart that companies like associated get slowly choked out because of convenience.
Traxxas for the views i see, well i believe you might be the 2nd enthusiast to make a video about this overpriced 1/10 scale XRT. I believe mark santa maria is the other RU-vidr to cover traxxas's latest flop. According to my local hobby shop, traxxas parts and TRx4 are the only items they can sell consistently. You just came back, and based on your Quarterling commentary I'm sure you will figure all of this out.
It’s awesome to know that this guy is in the Arses just like I am people give me shit for having a hobby, but hey, takes my mind off all this stupid shit going on in the world today he needs to get some FM asses. Damn things are actually pretty fun. I’m trying to get some of their RC planes to because RC cars are pretty fun but RC planes are definitely the shit as long as you don’t crash them same with drones.
