Another good how to vid on the bulk head fix really wish traxxas would do that right from the factory. I kinda wish they wouldn’t even glue the tires from factory and just let us glue them ourselves

Second for gorilla glue.. for me, gorilla glue gel works awesome for complete tire on rim glue jobs and the normal thin gorilla glue for touch-ups.. the step that everyone seems to miss though is cleaning the bead of the tire really well with brake cleaner before gluing.. there is too much oil that naturally comes out of the rubber for just glue to actually stick to it and not let go.. I also rough up the plastic bead surface on the rim with scotchbrite and medium grit sandpaper for the glue to stick to.. smooth surfaces are also terrible for good adhesion.
Because those wheels were/are black chrome coated, I would have peeled the tire back further and scuffed the coating off with sandpaper. I then use a "3M Adhesion Promoter Stick" before applying any glue. Coated wheels are def. not ideal for all sorts of reasons! *They only look good for so long* anyways!
I did the same thing to my bulkheads except I used a sawzall and a hack saw. It was almost the exact width and a lot less melting and mess, but same basic outcome.
@@earlmoorhead5555 I had to call traxxas and have that 7720x upper bulkhead pulled from engineering in order to get one it is a real pain! I hope they get that figured out soon. Cause I did like your buddy rc guy garage and built my Xrt from my extra x-maxx.
Tire glue is CA glue. I’ve had the best results using Starbond med thick flexible. It’s by far the best I’ve used. Properly prepped tires will rip the sidewalls out before breaking the glue bond.
What’s the part number for the screws and strap you used? I’m going to try this. I had to call traxxas and they pulled the 7720x off the managers desk and sent it to me. Told me they have a large shipment of them coming but sounded like no one knew exactly where they were or when they’d be here.
what type of disc are you using with the dremel as the ones that came with it keep shattering the minute you change the angle of cut i think off memory they where like dark brown in color ?? Thanks for these tutorials Too btw Earl 🙂
How much torque do you put on the wheels when tightening? I have the t-handle to install and I can't seem to find how tight to turn in the manual or online. Thanks for any help with this.
