At "treeschool" we're taught on MRT using a basic friction hitch. It's brutal on your body and I've been thinking about getting myself setup with SRT. This video is perfectly timed and contains excellent pointers. In a few videos time, you'll probably see me start to incorporate SRT into my climbing. Thanks for the video!

Blakes hitch is good to know for rescue reasons, but hip thrusting is absolutely terrible. Give srt a try, I think you'll like it!

Learning to climb. Got the foot ascender but the econo version of me was trying to rig my hand ascendor and foot loop with a recycled bungee cord and use it for my knee ascendo. It kind of works....lokks like i would enjoy the ascent better with a dedicated knee ascender....thanks for the video.

Try webbing with the hand accender first might work a little better and will be a cheaper option! Glad the video helped!

Been climbing 35 years used everything there is have a whole shop full of crap. SRT in my opinion is over rated. although different areas of the world trees are different. I find DRT is the best for me . I will occasionally accesses with SRT for trimming. but removals almost never. And in reality not a comp speed scenario. I find DRT to much faster and easier on my body. ascenders work with DRT to and if your good with a throw ball rope placement isn't a issue. I see so many young climbers with all this crap and cant even tie a knot. I'm a 3rd gen. tree guy. Back in the 80s it was a four ring Webb saddle with a tauntline hitch. not that I do that any more but you can be sure i am ready for any situation. good video be safe.

When talking access, SRT is the best for me. I'll swap between them both frequently actually, while doing removals and trimmings. I prefer MRT on the long limb walks and tuff to get places. When talking access f to the canopy, MRT is slower for me. I find using accenders to be clunky with it and ware myself out way more. I disagree with younger climbers being less knowledgeable because of equipment, if anything it's a lack mentorship or them being to proud to ask questions. The industry is constantly evolving and that's a good thing.

Great video buddy. I have that same foot ascender the CT. It's perfect, it adjust down super tight so easy. I also have the notch jet step. I can not get that thing tight. Do you know anything about that 1? How to get it tight, thank you.

Unfortunately I have 0 experience with that accender. I'm using the CT knee accender as well, it's good, the return is kind of bad on it tho.

@@br-dj2ti the bungee cord could be a little stronger. The rope grab doesn't return to its starting position when I take a step up. It's a super nit-picky complaint.

@@In-The-Trees Yeah, I don't have the knee asender. I just have the foot ascender.

I see you got the new tree motion how do you like it. You didn't want to go for the monkey. Beaver 2.0, just curious. That's what I have. I absolutely love it so I was looking at the tree motion. I like it too, just never use it.

It's a great saddle. There's a local arborist store I like to support otherwise I probably would have gone with the monkey beaver. I know I'm going to enter his video competition and try to win one, so stay tuned!
