If I used a kitchen towel my wife would be very angry. We call them paper towels over here. You're right, they are absolutely essential for oil painting. Great video, cheers from GA USA
This man is a true teacher of oil painting!!! I have adopted his methods and added a few of mine to create my style. I have been oil painting over 50 years and he has taught me many things that I can use ! Thank u from my heart!
I've tried his methods a time or two and was indeed astounded at how easy and effective they were -- and especially how quickly my paintings dried (touch-dry within hours), even with the use of the additional linseed oil. Showed me how little I knew about the medium, for sure! Cheers to Stuart!
🎨 Thank you Stuart I love the blue sky in this picture !! I always appreciate your charming chatter and your painting insights from all your years as a professional artist in so many capacities. After your years of precise intricate work it's fun to watch you paint in this free and open style. Very cool. I was happy to see this video appear. 😁 P.s. I really cracked up when you described faking it so onlookers wouldn't figure out that you were lost lol. Because I can definitely relate. 😂❤
Fantastic! Every minute of this video is so enjoyable. I like that you share your thoughts and explain what to pay attention to and why you do something, and all this in such a pleasant and calm manner. Great, great, great!!! There is so much depth under the trees and walking into it feels so real. You are by far the best teacher. Finding your videos is a real gift because I felt right away that this tutorial and style was what I've been looking for. Heartfelt thanks!
I've picked up a few tips in my art career. 1 came from Stuart davies himself. To save money I buy panels from home depot. Have them cut there to specific sizes. Beforehand I buy cool picture frames from thrift stores. And the panels are cut to the frame size. Voila I saved about 500 dollars. Thanks Stuart
I find your voice so soothing. This is the second video of yours that I watch and I absolutely love them. I'm doing a sort of landscape, it's a commissioned painting and I like to watch your videos as I paint and when I take a break!! Thank you so much and greetings from El Salvador!!!
You have inspired me to not give up. My paintings have not only improved by watching your videos but also my mental take on the whole process. Thank you Stuart for sharing your priceless knowledge.
Hi Stuart, this, for me has been one of your most informative videos. I learned more today of value. Thanks. It is raining in New Zealand as usual, so it is a painting day for me.
Thanks Stuart, I really enjoyed this painting. Amazing how a simple scene can be a great piece of work at the end of the day with a tweek here and there. Looking forward to the next one.😫🇦🇺🦘
I loved the original white sky, but that blue changed it for the better! I had to chuckle, as a retired meteorologist, when you described clouds as white things in the sky😂
Very enjoyable. I learned 2 or 3 techniques that I need to practice. The conversation on perspective was just what I was looking for. Thank you again for all that you share with us
Stuart Davies aprons! I'm in for sure. Just trying to see how to take your Zoom classses after paying an annual patreon fee. I'll figure it out and join a Zoom session to learn from you. Thanks for your fine teaching. All the best, John Hoag, Esq.

"A Masterpiece of Nature: An In-depth Look at Stuart Davies Oil Landscape Painting When viewing Stuart Davies oil landscape painting, one is immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty and realism of the scene depicted. The artist has masterfully captured the essence of nature, from the lush greenery of the trees to the sparkling water of the river or lake. One of the most striking elements of the painting is the use of light and color. The artist has expertly used a palette of warm and cool tones to create depth and dimension in the scene. The sunlight filtering through the trees, for example, is expertly rendered, with beams of light casting a golden glow over the water and surrounding foliage. The composition of the painting is also noteworthy. The artist has skillfully used the rule of thirds and leading lines to guide the viewer's eye through the scene. The placement of the trees and other elements creates a sense of movement and flow, drawing the viewer deeper into the painting. Another aspect of the painting that is particularly impressive is the attention to detail. The artist has captured the intricate textures of the trees and the water with incredible precision. Each leaf and blade of grass is rendered with such realism that it is easy to imagine oneself standing in the very same spot. In conclusion, Stuart Davies oil landscape painting is a true masterpiece of nature. The artist's skillful use of light, color, composition, and attention to detail make for a truly breathtaking and realistic representation of the natural world. It is an artwork that will be enjoyed and admired for years to come."
Videos as thoroughly enjoyable as they are educational. I was wondering if you could demonstrate areas of sky showing through breaks in the tree foliage? Lots of trees in my area are like that & I couldn't get that quite right or visually correct without it seeming a bit distracting and a bit too much of a focal area. I've noticed that all of your trees are pretty much solid internally but, with stunning realistic effect nonetheless. Stay Safe & Healthy!
Thanks as always Stuart! Looking forward to seeing your apron. I'm in the market for a new painting apron and would love to be able to support your work in at least that small way.
I was going to ask you if instead of using the paper type of wiping tool if you might use some actual fabric similar or the same as some of the people used before paper towels were made. The texture of the fabric I would assume cotton or linen or hemp or some other natural fiber would have a nice wiping property.
Hello Stuart! I believe you are dyslexic! I have same issues with directions and I am dyslexic as well as ambidextrous! Just thought you might like to know!
“Do you see yonder cloud that’s almost in shape of a camel? Polonius: By the mass, and ‘tis like a camel, indeed. Hamlet: Methinks it is like a weasel. Polonius: It is backed like a weasel. Hamlet: Or like a swale? Polonius: Very like a swale.” ― William Shakespeare, Hamlet
they are everywhere lol: if you live in Europe you can find in Brico HUGE rolls of paper, they are strong and good, no print models and you get a lot for a few euro. Who reads newspapers nowadays anyway?:)
@@Robocop-qe7le , I live in Turkey; I've tried on line but I can't seem to get what I call "industrial grade" paper rolls. It was easy when I lived in the UK. Also, I don't read newspapers either, but might buy one to try it out.
