Trekking Solo in the Scottish Highlands | Cape Wrath Trail Finale!!

After 17 days of trekking and 7 videos later, I'm sad to say that the Cape Wrath Trail is finally over. Thank you so much for joining my journey through this rugged landscape of the scottish highlands, over mountains passes, through glens, river, bogs and small villages - I finally made it to that iconic lighthouse that sits on the remote and desolate shores of Cape Wrath (UK's most north westerly point)
This has had to be one of the most enjoyable and challenging experiences of my life and I loved every second of it! It was so nice to come home to a dry bed and clothes, a hot shower and some wholesome food but the trail still yearns within me and that easy and beautiful way of life I led for over 2 weeks.
Scotland had so much to offer and I loved backpacking solo through the remote sections of it. In this episode, I hike from Rhonich where I wild camped the night before over to sandwood for the night, where I went for a swim! Then my final day... to the Cape Wrath Lighthouse and back.. one of my hardest stages.
Was lovely meeting so many nice people along the way - you know who you are! Thank you for making this trip even more special. Also, thank you for all the amazing comments, its so lovely to hear :))

That noise at the start wasn't a stag, it was me wailing that this series is over. It has been a fantastic series, beautifully filmed & edited. I've done multi day trips with heavy pack so I take my hat off to your physical & mental endurance & still managed to look beautiful throughout. So proud of you Becks as I bet your family are xx

Here here! I'm two decades behind you Phil & I too am happy to see younger folk enjoying wild camping and sticking to the leave no trace principles. I was doing this back in the 1980s and the equipment has improved such a long way, although interestingly, a good 4 season, 1 man tent is still extremely similar in design and weight to the one I bought for £110, 33 years ago :)

Wonderful journey Becky. Certainly one of the most, challenging, if not the most challenging walks in the UK. Your completion of this walk and the compelling quality of your content is, like Haze Outdoors and Hounds of Howgate a true inspiration to us all. A journey that is too severe and challenging for some ( including myself) but there are many long distance walks in the country that can become our own Cape Wrath trail and get us out into the great outdoors. Inspirational stuff Becky, not just this trail but following your heart and building up your channel. I’ve no idea about the economics of developing a RU-vid business, but I’m sure it’s not easy and I expect and hope you’ve got to the point where this could give you a living. I really like that your vlogs come across so real and honest. I never get the impression that any of your content is aimed at enticing subs. I really think you should feel very proud of everything you’ve achieved.

Becky, I have really enjoyed watching the Cape Wrath Trail videos and not only is this an epic achievement, but you do it with such a positive and cheerful demeanour, it is truly inspirational. As a Scot for whom a 230 yard hike would be quite an adventure, you have demonstrated what is possible with sheer willpower and determination, no matter how harsh the conditions you face. I know I'm late but I just found the channel. I just wanted to say thanks for the daily map updates. They added a lot and took away the frustration of watching a video and having no clue as to where it was taking place. Perhaps not a big deal for everyone but being able to follow along added a lot. Congrats on finishing the trail and filming a fantastic series. The longest trail I've hiked was 3 days, so I can't imagine hiking for weeks, especially during the inclement weather you experienced. Absolutely amazing perseverance! Your positivity is infectious and that smile radiant. :)

Becky... this was a super epic journey you managed and glad we were all able to join you for it. You may not have noticed during your trek but the camera doesn't lie. All of the while you were walking the entire trail, as you passed, the flowers began to bloom behind you. The fish started spawning and the deer were breeding. Like a ray of sunshine on the darkest day. Truly an angel sent from above! So freaking amazingly beautiful. Super love and blessings from Ontario Canada! I love you!

Well done Becky!!! You hiked it solo, just because you had others that joined you for a time does not change the fact that you were essentially hiking by yourself. I’ve been swimming at Durness a few times in April. It’s bloody freezing 🥶. It’s also a very gradual slope to get into the water. About 100 metres out and it’s only up to your knees so that means you can’t just “get out” of the icy waters. Total respect to you Becky you are an inspiration. Much love - Dave 🙏🏻

Camped next to the sheep pen at Sandwood Bay with my then thirteen years old son about thirteen years ago, It was sunny but very windy when we arrived it was awesome on the beach then had to run for the tent as a storm rolled in! Great achievement that you will always regard with pride and forget all the pain!

Becky. Really enjoyed this series. Having accompanied a friend on the remotest stages of the Scottish National Trail I am super impressed at you having accomplished the CWT solo. I found this episode really emotional and felt I was walking the this stage again. I hope you are able to undertake many more long distance trails. Enjoy life. And keep smiling.

Thank you for posting this video. Brought back memories of 1979 when a group of us from I M Marsh (Liverpool University) camped at Sandwood bay (pretending to be doing some field studies) for 2 weeks. Some of us climbed that sea stack, with a Tyrolean traverse over the sea approach. We paddled kayaks into the beach from Kinlochbervie, but had to carry them out overland due to bad weather, lol. Thanks again for sharing.

Can only imagine how emotional it was for you reaching the light house. I am a quite old guy and I teared up watching you! Just fantastic. As I watched your journey I also pondered how healthy the outdoor natural life-style is. you must be using so much energy each day, yet your calorie intake didn't seem that great. Very surprised Ian and his wife who live there did not offer to put you up in their bunkhouse , after such an epic journey it would have been a perfect finale .I've cycled 5 times from Cape cornwall to Cape Wrath so know how special that place really is . Not sure in older years i will make it back for that fridge magnet i crave , but you are quite magnificent bringing the magic of the cape back to me , god speed xx

I've absolutely loved watching you taking on the challenge of the trail you truly are an inspiration . I could go on and on but to hear you read the passage from the end of the guide and seeing you reach the lighthouse it made me think back to one of the first videos i watched from you, the one explaining the reason why you made your decisions and talking about what you had been through with the cycling ect, this for me crowns your strength of mind at such a young age ! again i could go on and on but i think you know where i'm coming from :) looking forward to your next adventure ! you rock!!!
