Well Monte, thanks to these awesome videos, I am going to order a kit to swap out my automatic to a tkx. I'm hopeful you're still taking a few questions...cause I've got one already! Looking back, would you still have chose Silver Sport for this kit? There seems to now be a handful of companies making shopping lists for folks like me...who have never done this. Anyhow, if you have really any regrets, itt would be incredibly helpful. Thanks so much man. These videos are very easy to watch!
Hey Brother! Great idea! You're gonna LOVE shifting gears again! Great question... I absolutely love SST. Their support is top notch, which is how I rate all businesses... how well do they support, but most of all, how do they react during "customer service Recovery". You know, like having the wrong entre delivered at a restaurant. How does the staff recover? SST is awesome. If you end up talking to Shane, tell him Hi for me. Have fun!
I am doing a TKO 500 currently, when I spoke with the people at Silver Sport, they said to keep the dowel pins in the block since they could shift when the bell housing is pulled.
Yeah, there's a possibility of that happening. But, I'm pretty sure the pins would have to rotate for any measurements to change. It was super easy to leave them in the bell. Good luck with your build! Would love to see the outcome...
Great question Mitch. So, Pilot bearings are better for rotational drag, or lack there of, BUT, they're sensitive to massive alignment issues. That's why the Bronze bushings are used on Muncie's and the higher performance pilot bearings are used on Tremec's. Hope that helps!
Man. I have to say that bull crap how easy your pilot bearing went back in. I froze mine, destroyed the first one and then destroyed a impact socket to get one flush. By far the hardest part of the build so far
Thanks I will, I would love to do the Tremec but with my non-skills plus we have to do everything on the garage floor it would be difficult to say the least
Dan, I’m getting ready to do this. Just ordered my TKO today and I built some wheel cribs. Look them up on RU-vid. Cheap and gets the car up high enough to do just about anything. Besides I prefer to lay down when I work. 😂😂😂
@@darinandalinahouse9596 Congrats! Yeah, those wheel cribs are cool... The only thing I miss about laying down to work is I can take a nap, without moving. ha, ha... let me know if you run into anything strange. Where'd you get the TKO?
I will let you know! Thanks again for being such a great resource. I probably wouldn’t have tried this without having a coach. 😜 Silver Sport Trans of course!
Note very important look at your old clutch plate and see if the hub springs have been rubbing the flywheel bolt heads is yes your not getting full use of the clutch dis because your flywheel has been shaved to Maximin and now the hubs hitting. if me, i'd replace the the old fly wheel with a new one so you can get full-service mileage from the new clutch..
Good point Rich... I had to change discs because I was going from a 12 spline Muncie, to the 26 spline TKO (But, now have a TKX with a RAM dual disc clutch, and lovin it!) Thanks for the comment.
Do you have the part # for the pilot bearing? Is it different than the one going in my Muncie? I just ordered one off Amazon it was so inexpensive no big deal, but its a National
@@FastMonty as strong as it can be lol finally updated the sounds system replaced all speakers and added a subwoffer. excellent videos as always keep up the great work can't want to see when you get your goat back on the road
