You're absolutely right, Phil. I often find myself playing and I just can't seem to kill effectively. Last night for example, I use the FAL with fast mag and adjustable stock. I have a run 'n gun set up. Lightweight perks etc. I started out in earlier games doing decent. Nothing to rage at. I literally shut my system off later on because I would be putting 4 or 5 shots in the chest/neck area, and they would just spray or hip fire me and I die.
I've always had the problem where you run around a car or a wall and i'll be shot once and then the second time i get shot i'm dead and in the kill cam i didn't even make it around the car in the first place.
Also, there were plenty of huge maps with lots of needless, excesssive space on the outskirts of the maps like Overgrown, Ambush, Bloc, and Crossfire. I'll agree with you on this - because the game had LESS stuff overall, there was more of an emphasis on actual gun skill and less on gimmicky bullshit like assault shields, dual wield, shock charges, crossbows, ballistic knives, etc. I wish those things weren't in the game, too.
I will acknowledge that there is an additional layer of BS to worry about when a game runs on a host (listen server) rather than a dedi server, because connection quality is dependent upon that person's internet connection, & thus they are free to lag switch, quit to the dashboard to end the game prematurely, or otherwise make the game lag for everyone if they choose to watch Netflix or something while hosting the game. Without some kind of lag comp they would have a huge connection advantage.
You are clearly looking at IW's past games with rose-colored glasses, man. Even Infinity Ward themselves acknowledged that lag compensation/netcode was a huge problem in Modern Warfare 3 because of the new form of lag comp they implemented after MW2, and they release title update after title update attempting to address connection-related issues.
I don't believe that's true. From what I understand, lag compensation is literally designed to compensate for the varying pings between all players in a game, whether that game is being hosted on a dedicated server or a listen server (aka a "host" player like in console CoD). Even on dedicated servers, different players will always have different pings and thus there will always be a discrepancy between what each individual player "sees" and what the host (the server) "sees."
i totally agree i cant count how many times ive jumped then ducked under a wall or dolphin dived behind a wall and on my screen my VIEW is under a wall but they still manage to kill me when my head somehow is still popping out but on my end im covered???
I've been any avid Call of Duty player since Call of Duty 4. Back in the CoD 4 days, it was all about who had more gun skill and experience, now it's just all about internet. The things you saw were just kill delays. Everything on your screen is slightly delayed on their's. It's just how CoD works. There is nothing to fix.
There is absolutely no known correlation between game console and network quality, other than in the case of Black Ops II on PC, which runs on dedicated servers.
Killstreaks do chain in Call of Duty 4. An airstrike could earn you a chopper. You could even purposefully die and then call in your highest streak after respawning and it would earn kills towards your killstreak rewards again. Lag is going to happen, regardless. On console, there was absolutely no host migration, and there was no form of region-locking in matchmaking, so there was always a chance you could get into a game where the host is from fucking Uganda.
It really sucks, the camera angles and server lag are garbage and it's been like this through every CoD game I've ever played. All they honestly need for the most part are some independent servers.In fact, I don't understand how you can have one of the most popular FPS games of all times and not run on independent servers. I can't think of any recent shooters that don't...
They need dedicated servers...I get killed when I'm already in cover behind the wall(on kill cam I never even reached the wall) I'll tell one thing that shit hasn't even happened to me once on Halo 4. If I get to cover I'm covered.
I don't think after 4-5 shots in the upper body by the FAL, anyone should be looking at a kill cam. Anyways, great vids Phil. This shows you're one of us.
the game is so very broken. i play on pc and spawn next to enemies. they spawn behind me. they can kill me with half the bullets it takes me on hardcore. they shoot coming around a corner before they even know i'm there.
It's a business tactic since CoD 3. Things broken or laggy? We'll fix that in Cod 7 don't worry. There has always been an OP weapons or perks in CoD games so they can promise to "balance" the MP in the next installment so people regain faith in the franchise to buy the sequel.
But yeah I agree. I'm not sure whether to deem the lag due to game or server but I also think it could possibly be console. For instance, I'm a huge PC gamer and am allowed to connect to whoever, on whatever game/client it is, anytime. Yet, when I am on Xbox, I have connection issues with those same friends. Not to sure what it is but I believe it may have something to due with too strict of a network. Never shot lagged in CS!
Treyarch will never do anything. They convinced millions to buy the game and now they're going to leave it. Why should they fix it? They're not losing money.
Phil he was using dexterity which makes his gun raise faster after sprinting thats why it came up so fast. The raise time isnt really bad nor good but the lag isnt their fault its the games host fault and your connection to them. They could get dedicated servers but thats extremely faulty on xbox. I keep dealing with the same bullshit along with shot guns going the same distance of a assault rife. It's fucking annoying. an not to mention spawning in the middle of everyone to instant death
Bought this game at Midnight on release day, played for 6 hours nonstop when I got home, slept and woke up to my stats being reset. Complete bullshit but that was only the start. After two months of just beating my head into this game I finally decided to get Halo 4. Halo 4 is more fun and less stressful. Completely different game, I know. However, I find League Play to have less problems. Try there.
Yea they lowered the damage like a few weeks ago but now its not powerful enough and gets some dumb hit markers but they should have done what u said lower the aiming time and should have made it pump a slower time.. not damage
Phil. I agree with the raise time, BUT I have two better solutions. 1. Play hardcore. Nobody uses shotguns if they do its rare. 2. Buy an Xbox. I'm not saying it never lags, but it's light years ahead of psn as far as lag is concerned (and everything else but that's a whole nother debate)
It's called latency. They fucked the game up by increasing latency. It means that you literally have a shadow chasing you around, and your shadow is your in-game character that the enemy sees and can shoot. They increased latency to try to help people pop around corners faster to have the upper hand against campers. Which doesn't seem to help and FUCKED the game up so bad. Latency is the worst issue in the game.
Treyarch made like 1 billion dollars from BO2. Do you honestly think they´ll fix shit around?. They dont even wanna waste money on making weapon DLCs or even putting more hard work on their games. Fixing is a word that dies entering Treyarch.
This is why i don't understand how anyone can have fun on this game while actually trying. Having exactly what you're talking about in the video happen over and over again is just no fun. Which is why I only play this game when i have full party of people and just screw around not trying.

This is why I don't play BO2. For some reason I always end up going back to the previous COD when the newest one is in its prime, but I'm not sure if Ill do that for BO2 lol.

Google "Xbox Community Update." They've already released multiple title updates to "fix" their game. Besides, it's not Treyarch's role to make money. Activision is in the business of making money. Treyarch is in the business of making and maintaining a good game. Treyarch HAS released multiple updates to address various issues with their game. Yes, it sucks to get shot around corners and shit, but you literally cannot FIX lag when it is an inherent flaw of the Internet itself.

um....its called lag? your signal and thier signal, AND CoD's server all have something called ping. when all the pings are diffrent(of course CoD's ping is allways 0 but its STILL THERE) hos game registered you getting killed, if he has a lower ping the server deems your char. as being dead SIMPLE AS THAT IT IS A BATTLE OF SPEED

hahahahahahahaha. This reminds me of all the shenanigans I faced in counterstrike over the years. At the same time, I don't believe MW3 to really be a good competitive game considering how it's a damn cheesefest.
Please watch Drift0r's two-part video about Lag Compensation/netcode in Black Ops II. Just search "Drift0r" and it should come up as one of his most recent videos. Trust me, lag compensation doesn't exclusive favor players with shitty connections, and without any form of lag comp, any first person shooter would be absolutely unplayable.

i have figured out some of the problem but if u live on the east coast side of the use the west coast internet has a faster connection time its like .23 milliseconds faster i think i have the same problem because i snipe alot get the head shot b4 i die and the kill cam shows I NEVER EVEN FUCKIN FIRED!!!! like i said faster conections West coast to east coast: 215 ms latency, 46 ms transfer time, 261 ms total West coast to west coast: 114 ms latency, 41 ms transfer time, 155 ms total BULLSHIT
yeah i rarley am able to play this game cuz the leg is so fucking bad. 80% of the time i have poor connection which leads to lag which leads to just fucking doing terrible. but i agree, its fun as hell when the connection is good but thats like never. im not going to bother buying anymore DLCs just cuz i cant even play the damn game so whats the point
Ps3 has always had problems with connection.That's partially why I switched to Xbox. Plus Xbox has better players and a wider community. There's a reason why most pro gamers/RU-vid commentators play Xbox. Not here to start shit but it's true.
lol @ nostalgia clouding your perception of reality. Call of Duty 4 certainly pushed the boundaries of the modern multiplayer first person shooter, and there was certainly less bullshit in the game to worry about because there was less stuff to worry about at all, but CoD4 is NOT without its own flaws. Are you really telling me that shit like Frag x3, Martyrdom, Last Stand, and the ACOG M40A3 took "some effort and skill?"
