A little history on my 1957 Tri-Pacer along with my new upgrades. The Garmin G5's and the Garmin GNC 355. We also visit Chris at Predator Paramotors. Fly out of Moraine Airpark and Land at Red Stewart in Dayton Ohio.
Some added history. I owned the aircraft from 9/1985 till 9/91 and did radio upgrades, intercom, 3 light marker and put 150 hrs on it. Fantastic airplane, lots of memories, and love seeing what has been done since I owned N6904D. It was painted by Robert Norman at Norman Aviation at Parr Airport 42I
That's a great looking plane. I also had a PA-22-150 1957 model with similar paint job. I bought the plane in 1975 when I had about 14hrs under my belt. I had soloed at 12 hrs an didn't want to rent aircraft again. I loved that plane and flew it all over Ontario Canada. I had more than 60hrs before I decided to take my test which I past easily. So much fun. Did not have much of a glide ratio but NEVER came into any grief.
As a student pilot/Tri Pacer owner suffering through an inability to fly due to Covid social distancing, your video set a bit of a fire in my heart. I yearn for the day that I can jump in my airplane and just fly.
Congratulations on the avionics upgrades, it looks absolutely amazing. I've also got to say great job continuing your certifications. That is one beautiful aircraft you have and I hope you get many great flights in it. Thank you for bringing us along with you on your journey!
What a dream setup man! That is so cool you have a Tri-pacer and you're in to paramotors! I have wanted a tri-pacer for a long time and want to fly one soon, I am hoping I can achieve that dream in the near future. Best of luck to you, looking forward to more videos of yours.
Great video, David. I fly a 1950 Piper Pacer out of KCID (Cedar Rapids, IA), and a friend has a Tri-Pacer as well that has been in his family for decades. Enjoy.
RED STEWART!!! My dad got his tailwheel endorsement there, he used to bring me along while going on lessons. If you ever see a gorgeous little yellow-cream and olive-green ‘29 Pietenpol Aircamper there, that’s him! We fly around the Northern KY/Ohio area all the time :)
LadyC Blu not sure why RU-vid isn’t sending me notifications on comments. Just seeing this! That is wonderful. I really loved my experience at Red’s. I’ll keep an eye out for him. Hope to see you in the air!
This is a beautiful plane. I seriously love the Tri-Pacer much to the amusement of my aviation friends but there's something about them I love and I can't explain why. Perhaps someday I could fly over and see it? I am based in EKM.
Thanks Dave. Absolutely man. You should fly over for sure. We could fly to I74 and grab some food. I unfortunately tweeted my rudder on the hangar door so I’m under repair for a few weeks.
@@davidschmaus1 Thank you, that sounds like a fun idea. I would love to connect with you @iamirishdave on social media or davidjamesoconnor@gmail.com thank you.
Really digging the video production makes this vid stand out from other youtube aviation videos. Nice cinematic look and filmlike color grading man! Hahahah anyways subbed and keep up the vids
Great videos you have been putting on here. My dad and I have a PA-22 160. We love it. We just got it about 3 months ago. I usually fly it every week. It's fuel consumption is about 9 gph. What do you think? Too rich? Dad had one back in 1982 and it burned about 8 gph.
The hangar was owned in to 70's and 80's by a gentleman that owned a bonanza and he had both painted. one in 1979 and one in 1987. He has passed away but all the new owners keep the old artwork. Its pretty awesome
@@davidschmaus1 I know of a beautiful yellow and white 1956 G35 for sale. Mid time E225 with Aspen 1000 and a Garmin 430. Scheme is original, and panel retains original appearance for the most part. $55k and it’s yours. Based at KMWA
David, any chance you can provide a ROM for the avionics upgrade and IFR certification? I'm looking to buy my first airplane and I look at Tri-Pacers as well, but I haven't seen another one as well equipped as yours. thank you.
@@davidschmaus1 David, not to be demanding but could you do a video as a walkthrough the IFR upgrades and your experience? I'm sure many of us are interested in the topic. Thanks man
@@davidschmaus1 A mechanic told me that once too, then he said, Well maybe it will fail about 30sec before the end of your life. Needless to say we made the repair.
It seems such a crying shame! To take a delightful old Classic like this, and corrupt it with doodads, bobbles and "junk"! I would have left her much more original. BUT THEN, my original training was done in the 1960's! Thus I have ZERO need for these modern, electronic crutches that the younger folk are so dependent on. A local lad, with a fine fast single, stayed ON THE GROUND for nearly 3 months simply because he was waiting for a replacement GPS! Guess he had never learned to Navigate????
These modern “crutches” save lives. The world is moving on and up, upgrading from the relics of your day to more advanced forms of flight. Either find something nice to say or shut your mouth.
I learned the same way. Dad walked out and handed me a broom. Great plane. Looking at a pacer myself in the hopefully not too distant future. Have fun!
