I am definitely a fan of longer breath cycles and extended exhales! Triangle video #1 wasn’t unmanageable by any means, but my body felt a little rushed at the 4-4-4 pace. I think I may have been breathing too deeply/taking in too much volume. The 4-4-8 in this session was my favorite, with a dynamic hold. I could feel differences among all of the variations, but each of them was comfortable. (I reduced my volume some, too, after realizing that was probably my issue with the 4-4-4. I will retry that one sometime soon with a lighter breath.)
@Jill Kovalchik great self-awareness. Yes! With these shorter cadences, you definitely want to reduce the volume of airflow, or you will feel rushed with the exercise. Wonderful self-correction. 😉 Also, thanks for the great feedback! I started with the 4-4-4, as it feels like a reasonable baseline for everyone. I want to create more guided variations in the future, so your input really helps me to determine which direction to go. Thank you, as always!

I tried this triangle technique at various times of the day , experimenting with different counts / cadence and rhythms and even inverted the hold / pause to be at the exhalation . Nothing really felt rite or allowed me to sink into the breath. I must just be too much of a square : )
@MildManneredMercifulMouse I totally appreciate this response. I get it! For me too, I'm experimenting right now with a lot of different cadences, rhythms and with placing the retention in different places. The exploration is really the point, and I'm glad you felt compelled to jump in, face first.😉I have two guided triangular breathing sessions coming out this month: one with the hold at the top, one with the hold at the bottom. This is fun.. breathing with ratios and geometry! Loved the 4-8 cycle. And the 4-4-8 is more relaxing. Helped in easing my pulse rate down by 20. I’m in a serene state ! Thank you my friend Tara 👼
