Yea, I should have warned you guys that your arms might get tired. One solution is to do this entire session lying down on your back, and also you can do one side at a time, so that you're always alternating arms. My shoulders are sort of used to it since I've been a manual therapist for decades. But I forget not everyone is conditioned for this. Thank you for reminding me to be more considerate to the needs of my audience. 3. LOL! Believe it or not, I'm pretty deconditioned in this video. You should see my biceps right now.😏LOL! Hi @omkardandekar You are right. There are two very similar videos. But they are not exactly the same. They serve the same purpose, but I offer the alternatives so that people can find the perfect breathing rhythm for their needs. THIS video is set to 5 breaths per minute, breathing in for 6 and out for 6. The other video you mentioned is at 6 breaths per minute, breathing in for 5 and out for 5. As I said, very similar, but different people have different preferences. Do you notice any difference between the two? Or is the effect quite similar for you?

@BELightTT 3 дня назад
@@ForwardFilms121 I must have a bunch of lookalikes running around the globe. You're not the first person this week to mention this! 😂😉That's great that you're a competitive swimmer! How old are you? How long you been at it? My older brothers were competitive swimmers - one of them actually went to Olympic Trials. And my dad ran a swimming and diving team for about 45 years. He's a great coach. I asked him recently if he ever coached his swimmers' breathing in any way, and he said he never messed with it so much. But I believe we can use what we know about physiology and modern sports science to maybe find that extra competitive edge. I don't teach a ton of "performance breathing" on my channel, only because it tends to come with a number of contraindications and some of the techniques are not appropriate for a general audience. But I do teach a lot more performance-based strategies in my 4-Week Breath Boot Camp. I have a free video training that gives you a sense of if you are a right fit for my program or not. You might be interested in checking in out. @ForwardFilms121 2 дня назад
what a serendipitous occurrence, that's amazing that you're brother qualified for olympic trials though it does always help to have a dad who's profession is teaching high level swimmers. About your questions: I have been competitive for almost a decade (however off and on with COVID) and I have lived a measly 17 years, the club that I swim for was once among the top three in the country with several national champions however due to internal affairs it has significantly declined over past years. I suppose performance breathing isn't really a thing especially in my favourite events which are fly and freestyle sprints there is minimal breathing involved in the race. What you mentioned about physiology and sports science made my ears prick up Tara, as it's something I have been considering studying at uni for sometime especially the ways in which you can apply it to real life. I'll check the video out but in the meantime you've been a very engaging host with an evidently vibrant and inquisitive soul, I wish you and your family well

@@ForwardFilms121 Firstly, I want to say how amazingly mature you are for only 17! Wow, I thought I was speaking with someone much older. I must admit, I've met a number of UK teens since starting my channel, and you all are mature beyond your years. Not sure why that would be, but bravo to you! Secondly, in terms of swimming (or any sport really), it's not so much about altering your breathing DURING performance. It's about training your breathing OUTSIDE of performance, in order to create positive physiological adaptations that enhance your performance when you need it. Does that make sense? So as a swimmer - especially a sprinter - I wouldn't touch your breathing. As you said, you barely breathe during those events. And actually, a breath-hold practice might even offer you a performance boost. But more importantly, we'd want to work on your breathing outside of the pool, to optimize it as much as possible and to improve overall recovery and longevity in the sport. Does that make sense? Just like you might train in the gym to improve strength/power/endurance, your breath practice can offer similar benefits. Will you be starting Uni in the fall? That's so exciting! So much hope! So much potential! You're at an age where you can literally do anything. If it's interesting to you, I highly encourage you to go into an exercise physiology program. I'm sure you have some great ones in the UK. Exercise science has really exploded in the last decade. We know so much that we didn't know, and the discoveries will only continue. I think it's a marvelous - and quite practical - area of study to go into. Truthfully, I wish I had done it! Thank you so much for the well wishes. If you think of it, please stay in touch! I'd love to hear what you decide to specialize in and how you get on with your studies! Take care of yourself and have a great night.

Hello again - I had wanted to (or may have) mention that breath-holding settled my HRV in the center of "Balanced" as measured by a Garmin watch. Hi @Mytchell That's a great tip about the breath holds. I agree. A simple breath-hold practice can be a powerful neurological "reset" for many people. That's so great that you had that experience. @Jo-Ann-yw4ym Nice to see you! Thank you for watching and commenting. To be honest, Jo-Ann, for me, fighting the EMFs is a losing battle. As an online solopreneur, I am absolutely glued to either my phone, my computer, or both ALL DAY!😫I am so obsessive and meticulous with so many of my lifestyle habits (including removing as much of the toxic load as I can from my environment) that I just don't have the energy to prioritize or care about another thing. In 2024, I think it's virtually impossible to escape the myriad waves that we are all bathing in daily. And for me personally, I just don't think it is the biggest offender nor the biggest needle-mover on my health. I do try to turn my wifi off at night while sleeping, but I don't even always manage that. In terms of these devices, I have other reasons for not recommending them to people (I have a video coming out on that soon). The EMF thing might be something you want to consider. I would say this is definitely true if you already KNOW that you are sensitive to EMFs. Then, you should almost certainly avoid these portable devices. But otherwise, you are wearing this device for a relatively brief period of time, I don't think it's a huge deal. I'm not sure if this response helps or not. At the end of the day, we each have to do what we think is best for our individual bodies. Hope you're doing well and having a great week!💖

@BELightTT
@BELightTT 9 дней назад
Hi @thatguy3847 You absolutely do NOT need a gem foot for your fork. It will function perfectly well without it. What are the benefits of the foot? 1. It makes it so much easier to hold the fork without your hand cramping up. 2. It offers a broader surface area for transmitting vibration through the desired area. 3. If you are into crystals, supposedly the properties of the crystal are amplified through the vibration. If you are not into crystals (or don't want to spend that much for a foot), there are plain metal feet for the tuning forks, which are much more affordable and still give you benefits #1 and #2. I don't have a recommendation for you there, but a Google search should reveal some options. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and supporting my channel. I really appreciate that.

It's a great question. 1. Never use the tuning forks on the teeth - even through the skin of the lips and cheeks. 2. I believe the low-grade vibration will be safe, but it's best to check with your oral surgeon to make sure that the vibration from the tuning forks won't disrupt anything in your mouth long-term. 3. I think it's totally fine to work other areas of the face and skull - away from the jaw - without any issue at all. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

@@BELightTT wouldn’t a machine like the carbohaler by Anders Olsson theoretically pull you out of a sympathetic dominant state if you were to continue to use it?
@BELightTT
@BELightTT 14 дней назад
@@SauerkrautX Honestly, I have zero experience with the CarboHaler, so I really cannot speak on it at all. I think Anders is an amazing thinker, researcher and implementer when it comes to all things CO2. If it interests you and you can afford it, it might be worth a try. I will say from my coaching experience that there definitely needs to be a progression and a sort of "on ramp" to using a device like that. If people are not even managing their current CO2 load effectively, they will almost certainly feel like they are dying if they go to breathe in even greater CO2-rich air. But yes, I imagine if you are adapted to it, it would really help to recalibrate your CO2 centers and make you quite resilient in life. Remember, the goal is not to be permanently out of a sympathetic state. You need the full flexibility and capacity of your nervous system. It is as essential survival tool. However, many of us are poorly calibrated and overly-reactive. I do think something like a CarboHaler is an interesting idea. Ways to progress toward that are reduced breathing, single-nostril breathing, strong breath holds and something like a SportsMask. Just some preliminary ideas. I hope that helps! Have a great night!💖

@BELightTT 22 дня назад
Hi @Reiki_Beat I'm super excited for you! That's awesome. I hope you love your tuning fork experience and discover lots of cool ways to use your forks. The question of an implant is a good one, and one that I've received in the past. 1. Definitely do NOT use the tuning fork on your teeth...even through your cheek. The closest you would get is your gumline, through the cheek. 2. I'm sure that implant is incredibly modern and stable. The truth is, you'll probably be fine, as the vibration is really quite gentle, but I would still request that you run it past your dental surgeon. Just say you're using tuning forks on your facial bones and are wondering if they would create enough vibration over time to disrupt the implant. I'm almost certain they will say no, as that implant is designed to last, but always safer to ask. 3. If you perceive any discomfort at all, definitely do not continue. But I think a general tuning fork facial will be safe and feel amazing. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel.

Anything for tinnitus ?

Hi @9um9um9um Thanks for watching. Do I have anything for tinnitus on my RU-vid channel? I do have some videos that people have benefitted from, but please keep in mind, tinnitus was not my primary intention in making any of my videos. You would have to try them out for yourself and see what your body's response is. Here are some suggestions to get you started. I will be so happy if something here helps you to get relief! 1. Can this method effectively against migraine due to period?
@BELightTT
@BELightTT 26 дней назад
@chowhaw3267 It's a great question. I really cannot answer with certainty as you would have to see how YOUR body responds in particular. Some people have seemingly miraculous responses to the tuning forks, and others not so much. It depends on a lot of personal factors. If you want to try some things for migraines, I might direct you to some of my other videos, which I feel are a bit more relevant. I can't make any promises, but they may be worth exploring. I hope you can find the relief you are seeking! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. 1. Hello Tara - I love your work - and have been binging on your videos. Great stuff. I have been a breathwork/polyvagal/mindfulness coach for several years and loved McEwen's work when it came out. Anyway, I live at 6700 ft. elevation and my BOLT is generally around the mid to high 30's. On a visit to Hawaii, on a lark I tried and found my sea-level BOLT to be in the mid to high 50's!! THEN we stayed on the west side where the vegetation is DENSE and I found I was getting 1.20's, AND I never felt the same level of urgency to breath after such a long time. The reason I'd breathe is because I was worried about my O2 sat dropping too low. I keep a SPO2 with me and found that when I went past a minute, my O2 saturation bounced way down - low 70's about 5 seconds after breathing - but jumped way back up very quickly. This is a first for me. Previously, I rarely dipped below the mid 80's at home or on the dry side of the island. Do you have any advice with this?
@BELightTT

Hi @Mytchell That is so very kind of you to say! Thank you so much for that feedback. I'm glad you are getting something out of my videos. And how cool that you are a fellow practitioner. Thanks so much for taking the time to connect. I love interacting with my fellow coaches.💖Ok, so Mytchell, your experience makes total sense. You are accustomed to living at high altitude. You're at an extreme advantage for having greater oxygen carrying capacity and for being adapted to a low-oxygen environment. That's why historically athletes will go train at altitude before a major competition, so that they can get the exact response in their RBCs, that you get just from living your daily life. Go to altitude, naturally "dope" to get greater oxygen-carrying capacity, come back to sea level and kick ass! 😂This is a well-known recipe for improving performance. Because you are so adapted to a low-oxygen environment, it only makes sense that you also do not experience much air hunger. So that when you come down to sea level - where there is so much MORE oxygen - of course your BOLT is going to increase and even double. Makes total sense. You're accustomed to having a high BOLT even in "extreme" conditions. So when conditions balance out, of course your BOLT is going to sky-rocket. Right on! 🙌🙌To be clear, it is quite normal for advanced breath-holders (think free divers) to have their SpO2 drop even into the 50s. Sounds terrifying, but again, it is simply an adaptation they have managed to create through practice, consistency, and perhaps a natural inclination toward breath-holding in the first place. People who do WHM and blow off all their CO2 in order to hold their breath for multiple minutes ALSO often find their SpO2 dropping into the 50s and even 40s. The trick here is the INTERMITTENT nature of the practice, in order to create a positive adaptation and make you more resilient in general. You would never want your SpO2 to remain that low, but small doses or bursts can be quite beneficial for optimizing overall performance and ease of breathing. It sounds like you know what you're doing, and as long as your SpO2 always recovers back to normal within a few breaths after your breath holds, I would not be concerned. If your SpO2 is NOT recovering quickly, then it's time for a deeper conversation about what's happening and perhaps a need to alter your current practice. But to me, you sound like an absolute champ! Nothing you've shared with me sounds unusual or alarming. I WILL be curious to hear how you feel when you finally return to altitude! I'm wondering if you will require some time to re-adapt. You'll have to keep me posted!🙏💖I hope this helps, Mytchell. Please do not hesitate to reach out with further questions or to simply continue the conversation. And thanks again so much for supporting my channel. I really appreciate that. Have a great day!

@@BELightTT Thank you so much for this quick and thorough response. I of course try everything before I refer it to a client, so I'll continue to to try and expand my range. By the way, I refer all my clients to your site and regularly prescribe one or several of your patterned breathing videos. On another subject, but still related to the BOLT, I have found that when I am training frequently, (I ride mountain bikes) my HRV plummets (a huge issue with triathletes and other endurance athletes as well - and one they don't seem to have cracked the code of). When my HRV gets low, I bump up my breathhold practice(s) and also include diaphragm pumping to "massage" the heart or diaphragm lifting to keep pressure on the heart, signaling it slow. Usually within a day, my HRV will once again be in the "balanced" range -- as per Garmin. However, while in Hawaii, I have had zero training and my HRV is through the roof. The info I have found on HRV is that too low is not good and often associated with high stress and/or overtraining. But no info HRV being too high, other than high HRV is associated with low stress.

@@Mytchell Aw, that's so sweet of you! I really appreciate those referrals. Thank you so much.🙏💖I am not a super expert in HRV, only because I am not huge into wearables. However, I did just get an OXA breathing wearable which comes complete with a really solid breath-coaching app. It measures HR, Breathing Depth, HRV and Respiratory Rate in real time, which is super cool. I plan to make a video series on it soon, for those of you who really get value out of seeing the data with your own eyes. www.oxalife.com/?sca_ref=5943759.qUAYdbR0ol In the meantime, yea HRV definitely goes low in relationship to too much stress and/or overtraining. In terms of "through the roof", I didn't even really know that was a thing. How high are we talking?! Honestly, Mytchell, I tend to be much more reliant on interoception (especially in well-trained individuals who have already been exposed to using wearables and know the "feelings"), and I like to teach people to be able to self-regulate away from their technology. I know people with things like chronic fatigue or other autoimmune issues can show very strange and inconsistent data on most wearables. Or rather, data that requires deeper interpretation - one that often points to a dysregulated nervous system. It doesn't sound like that's the case for you at all! You seem like you're very consistent with your training and super well-trained, as well as objectively fit and healthy. I don't think you should discount the drastic change in environment, and how that might impact your physiology. I would say not to worry about it too much, but I know that's not what you're looking for. You want an answer to the issue of very high HRV. You might like to check out Dr. Jay Wiles, who is really an expert in HRV: www.drjaywiles.com/ Maybe you'll find some answers. Thanks again for the conversation. Talk more soon.

I am brand new to tuning forks and am looking for a chakra tuning fork set. When looking on Amazon I notice comments in the reviews that say that the hz frequencies of the weighted forks are incorrect, but now I’m wondering if the frequencies for weighted and unweighted are different. Can you please clarify for me and let me know if you sell a set of chakra tuning forks or if you can recommend a reputable brand. Thank you!
@BELightTT
@BELightTT Месяц назад
Hi @tanyapaty Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate that. Tanya, tuning forks seem to have exploded in popularity. There are a ton of companies manufacturing them. It's really not a "weighted vs unweighted" conversation when it comes to frequency. The frequency is more "manufacturer's choice". For starters, companies are choosing frequencies based on different tuning scales. For example, some forks come from A=432Hz tuning, some from A=440Hz tuning, some from A=444Hz tuning, and so on. This can make everything very confusing. That's one reason I never purchase random forks. I would say it is always advisable to purchase forks based on the recommendations of your teachers. For me, I purchase my forks from BioSonics, because my teacher created those forks and I trust the integrity of his company. If interested, you can find my affiliate links in the comment pinned to the top of this page. I will copy them here for you as well, if interested: AFFILIATE LINKS: 1. OTTO 128Hz Tuning Fork from BioSonics (affiliate link): biosonics.com/product/otto-tuner-128-weighted/ref/527/ 2. Crystal Gem Foot attachment from BioSonics (affiliate link): biosonics.com/product/clear-quartz-gem-foot-attachment-2/ref/527/ In terms of "chakra tuning", that's honestly not my area of interest or expertise. I find it a little "gimmicky". I don't mean that to be offensive, it just doesn't really resonate with me. But if you have heard great things, then you should absolutely look into if further for yourself. I will give you one piece of advice when starting out, which you can take or throw away. I usually recommend that people begin with only 1 or 2 forks. Use them for a while. See if you like them. Note their benefits. And then, if you find you want to explore further, make another investment. Too often, I see new students get over eager, purchase 20 forks from the get go, get overwhelmed, and never do anything with them. Even when I still had my private therapeutic practice, I never really used more than 3-4 forks. You'll find that you develop preferences and favorites, and suddenly, you're just using one fork for everything! LOL😂Not all teachers will agree with me, that's for sure. But that's why I devoted all my tuning fork videos on this channel to exclusively using the OTTO 128. I wanted to give people a very simple, introductory approach to sound healing, so that they can feel comfortable beginning, without getting overwhelmed. I hope this helps! Please don't hesitate to reach out with more questions. I hope you have a great day and thank you again for supporting the channel.

Hi, I’m a new subscriber from The Buteyko channel. I wonder if this massage can help me having spasmodic dysphonia? Or if you have other videos about this condition?
@BELightTT
@BELightTT Месяц назад
Hi @dariosergevna Thank you so much for subscribing! I really appreciate your support. I am certainly not an expert in dysphonia specifically. However, as I'm sure you know, all the diaphragms of the body are very interconnected, and your throat/tongue/floor of the mouth sort of acts like its own diaphragm, helping to regulate pressure. I don't know anything about you or your health or your habits, but I will say that if there is an issue/weakness in the respiratory diaphragm and/or pelvic floor, that can certainly translate upward toward the throat. I would highly encourage you to try out this session and see how it goes. It definitely won't hurt. Beyond that, I do not have many videos related to your dysphonia on my channel. However, I want to ask if you have ever tried tongue release work or any intra-oral work? I have a couple suggestions for you, if you are interested at all. 1. I just hosted a workshop last Sunday on manual release of the tongue and jaw for full-body health. It turned into a 3-hour workshop. While it's too late to register for the live version (you can check out the description here: www.belighttt.com/tara-special-workshop-6b ), I can still send you a link to purchase the recording which is still available for the next 8 days. The price would be only $40, if you want to give that work a try. You can simply contact me by email and let me know if you're interested: tara@belighttt.com 2. In my private community, not only do we do lots of functional breathwork, but I try to also focus on manual therapy techniques, and I often bring in guest instructors to teach on various topics, trying to show the interconnectedness of all things. My 2 guest instructors in June are both fascial experts, which might be interesting to you if you've never explored that work before. I don't know if that's useful at all to you or not, but I can leave you the URL with the details of my private community, as well as a second URL with the upcoming workshops. www.belighttt.com/be-light-community-special-offer www.belighttt.com/workshops Let me know if any of these appeal to you. If not, no problem at all. I would still encourage you to play around with this session and see how it goes for you. If you get any positive result, please do let me know! I'd love to know if this work is effective for dysphonia or not. Have a great day, and thank you again so much for stopping by the channel!💖

Which is the best breathing techniques of them all?
@BELightTT
@BELightTT Месяц назад
Hi, Kiarie! Thanks for watching and commenting. Honestly, there's no "best breathing technique". A technique is only useful at all if it matches your particular goals. So the question has to be what are you trying to accomplish? Once you know your goal, you can select a breathing exercise that simultaneously works best for your body, to help you reach that specific goal. I hope this makes sense. Have a great day!
