I had to look this one up! I didn't realize that kebab shops are considered "fast food" restaurants (perhaps on the level of a McDonald's in the USA), and Italy considers these and other fast food sellers to be ruining the city's image and cultural heritage. So they've banned new fast food restaurants from opening, banned selling pizza by the slice, made laws that food shops must use primarily locally-sourced produce, and are trying to prevent tourists from eating fast food at historical sites and popular tour destinations.

@@brockmarie I mean its their city they can do what they want but honestly from a common sense perspective that just weird asf. I guess they are trying to keep their culture but on the other hand they could just be trying to keep inflated prices that tourists cannot avoid and thus wring more money out of them

I agree, only grass feed cows tasted good warm and raw to me as a child. Burmuda hay feed cows was ok but pungent smell to me. Unless you are around cattle for any length of time you can't really appreciate the difference.

I don't really have asthma as an adult now, but that's because I don't go near anyone who smokes. I hate it when people smoke... They're so damn selfish.

Well raw milk can transmit several germs like E.coli, listeria and even tuberculosis but I think that's due to bad living standards of animals. I already drunk raw milk from a local farm which gave me stomach aches while my dad had no problems at all. The traditional German raw mountain cheese at the other hand was very delicious and easy on the stomach so I asked the farm about the standards and they have strict controls for listeria and other germs.

I grew up on a dairy farm and we drank our milk. It was like drinking ice cream. Tasted so good.

Canada doesn't ban raw cheese though.

@@viper7383 Pasteurization goes to 161 F. Raw milk brucella bacteria requires a temp of 149 for five to ten minutes. the pasteurization process which is 30 minutes kills that bacteria. UP and UHP which are more stronger pasteurization procedures do it in far less time.

You have other option to ultra pasturized packaged milk, there is no in between

From what I read, it's only illegal to sell across state lines. So I guess it's fine to buy/sell raw milk locally.

@@brockmarie depends upon the state. some states allow retail outlets, others its got to be a dairy etc.

the main reason grocery stores don't tend to carry it even if allowed is because of the time it is safe to drink is just a few days. so between transport and putting it on the shelf to removing it when it expires it doesn't make financial sense

I would agree but I truly prefer goat (kambing) to sheep (domba). Satay kambing with spicy chili peanut sauce. Yum!!! @@asseyez-vous6492 I was just going to say this. Vegetarian does not mean "doesn't eat red meat", it means "eats no meat." A person who eats fish but no meat is a Pescatarian. Vegans eat no animal products whatsoever and avoid leather, wool, silk etc as well.

Coming from India, even now in villages and rural areas, its very common to drink raw milk straight from the cow. And i have never heard anyone getting sick from it.

When my dad was a a kid one of hs friends drank raw milk and got an infection that ended up affecting mobility in one side of his body.

You can get brucellosis from raw goat's or cow's milk. It causes many serious side effects such as abortion in pregnant women. My neighbour had a severe case of it and lost most of her hearing.

We also grew up on raw goats milk only kind my grandaddy could take.

It got banned for a reason. Its also illegal in Singapore, Australia and Canada and most European countries have pretty strict limits on who can sell and how.

damn you need to read before you post and do a basic search online. raw milk is legal in the US. it just cannot be sold across state lines.

"Banned" is misleading. It's illegal to sell it, but you can still get it legally, at least in some states. IDK about Canada, though.

raw milk isn't illegal. the issue is non pasteurized milk goes bad in a few days and hence not fit for human consumption. dairies will offer raw milk for sale depending upon state with the understanding you either use it there on or shortly after. you basically have to live in the state or area where you can buy it.

Thanks, guy. I remembered visiting my Great Aunt on the farm in Texas got cow and they serve it as is or sterilize it first. My late grandma was raised on the farm and she told me how family was like on the farm. Not only milk from cow. They will drink I think it was either sheep milk or goat milk. Can't remembered which is which. But her most favorite was from the cow. Mine was too. Now I drink lactose milk because I was having problems drinking them. Anyway, thanks for quick response. 😉

And BTW, I really like raw milk when I was a kid. Just now I can't drink them anymore. I drink lactose milk from store.

My grandfather didn't have teeth and loved chewing several sticks of gum at a time. He said it felt good to his gums.

Venice banned Kebab shops (not kebabs themselves) to preserve the "decorum and traditions" of the city. It was part of banning several other fast food shops.

Varies by state. And even states that allow it tend to regulate it heavily.

Scientists have found out that some diseases can go from cattle in the milk to humans one is tuberculosis but by heating it it kills the virus that causes tuberculosis. Another example is cow pox. This virus is the one that they used to fight small pox. When my grandfather had his children inoculated for small pox they ended up transferring it to his herd. The children's doctor found out and next thing my grandfather knew scientists came and asked for blood from the cows in order to make more vaccine. It didn't hurt the cows and they paid my grandfather for it.
