One of my favorites to take out from a Chinese restaurant. The meat is always so tender, and the broccoli is beautifully done, crisp/tender without being overcooked. Broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables you can eat, by the way.🥦
Broccoli is a brassica, in the same family of vegetables as cabbages. Very healthy stuff if you're into eating vegetables. And westerners often call broccoli trees to make it fun and convince children to eat their vegetables. My children's favorite broccoli dish was what we called trees and cheese. Which was basically making the same cheese bechamel sauce that you would use for baked macaroni and cheese only baking broccoli instead of Carby macaroni. I think it's good to use any way you can to get your kids to eat more vegetables and less pasta.
Another delicious way to cook broccoli is you toss it in a mixture of olive oil, crushed garlic, salt pepper, a little dried chili, a little of whatever your favorite fresh herb is and parmesan cheese. Then roast it in an oven or air fryer until it's crispy around the edges. It's also a delicious way to prepare brussels sprouts and cauliflower.
I know they grow cauliflower in Pakistan, and broccoli is related to it. So if they like it, it might be a crop they can grow there. It's a very healthy vegetable, and it will add some variety to the food they normally grow. Ah, it is grown there, but on a small scale.
This became one of my favorite dishes when I learned to cook the beef properly so it is tender. When my late husband would make it, the beef was always tough, not like what I was used to with takeout. Great thing about the Internet and RU-vid is the many step-by-step recipes. I always eat beef and broccoli with basmati rice.
The flavor of broccoli is loved by most people but some people find its taste is offensive! I have made Beef and Broccoli many times because it’s quick and easy. The trick is velveting the beef which is a Chinese technique.
Beef and brocoli is a good combo, on rice, cannot go wrong with this. And the cook, congats on doing the broccoli, it is easy to make a mistake and over cook it, it should never be soggy.
Ive always figured it as a mock chinese dish also is very good with soy sauce and then with rice, sesame oil would be good too I like to just use ground beef that other type there i find to be too tough and chewy
The Chinese “secret” is in marinating the meat ahead of time for as little as 20 minutes in a mix of corn starch, baking soda, soy sauce, oil and water. You can google the exact ratios. Even cheap beef becomes tender this way.
Why is the Beef w/Broccolli not atop rice. That is how the dish is eaten. Atop rice. And why do the participants never have something to drink on the table. Whats going on with the presenters. The presenters are very lazy and lack providing information for the participant's in almost every video. They dont adjust their approach and stay exactly the same for every video. They dont explain anything to the parricipants. Its ridiculous. I find nysekf screaming at the video most often because of the ignorance of the people in charge. Its like they know nothing about simple things
