That's right! Nothing beats authentic chai, with black tea brewed with whole spices and sugar. Large commercial cafe franchises do such a sorry job of "chai latte". It's a shame. People haven't tried chai unless they've made it with the authentic recipe or bought it from a chaiwala from India or Pakistan.

It's great up until you see how they cook it... Literally pouring bags of sugar in the pot! Can't beat the taste tho.

People laugh, but I lived in a village, and the tastiest things I've ever eaten was there. Fresh fish over a fire, sometimes fresh caviar, fresh baked rye break, home grown vegetables, wild nuts and berries, nutrient rich eggs, natural grass fed meat, home made ice cream from fresh cream. You have to understand, none of the food, including the flour, is processed or pasteurized to blandness. The fruit and veggies aren't picked green, so theyre more flavorful. That man probably has lambs, the best tasting meat period, and lots of spices we cant afford. Hes exagerrating about how awful everything else is, but Im sure he eats really well.

Anthony Brusca ohh god! People have NO idea how strong some teas are. My dad drinks this really strong Chinese black tea. One time I tried it at around 6pm and I was awoke the entire night. Not even two sleeping pills helped!

@@gatekeeping8528 For Indian chai, the way it is made in my house, you use a 500 ml pack of milk, add almost the same quantity of water, and then boil it. Just before it rises to the top of the container when it boils, you turn the stove on low heat and add 1 and a half spoons of tea powder. No stirring. Immediately afterwards you turn it to high heat again, make it boil till the milk rises to the top and then off it. So you get the flavour without the bitterness, since the tea hasn't brewed for too long.

​@@christco120 though i do think they have a point with their tea and stuff, indian/pakistani full milk tea is made by simmering milk tea without boil and caramelizing it's sugars slowly for hours on end, kind of like dulce de leche, or at least i think that's how the traditional stuff is made, it's something similar anyways but from experience, it's sweet and super decadent while also having a surprising amount of depth, unlike with coffee very few people would probably ever dislike it. the comparison just doesn't work very well for coffee so it makes sense why they'd not come around to it easily.

Yeah, in many parts of the world coffee is boiled much longer, and even couple of times, over and over again. That's actually the way to extract the most ingredients from the plant of any kind. Check destilation of herbs on google.

@@milosjandric9219 But you also get tannin from the coffee powder which affects the absorption capacity of the gut. I put coffee powder in hot( close to boiling) water and let it stay for 2-3min with the heat off. Good quality coffee/tea doesn't need high temp, just increasing the brewing time works fine.

We had our local variants including spiced water with lemon, and fermented drinks made out of rice and barley. It wasn’t until the east India company started mass producing tea in Assam, tea was unknown to us.

But he is right actually. The desi version of coffee that we make directly on stove is made like tea and it's boiled. So most of us desis have our coffee fully boiled because that's how we have our tea as well

What he is trying to say is the taste of coffee seems to be missing or the flavor are not properly extracted maybe. In chai if you boil the tea down a bit more the tea flavor gets more concentrated.

Ironically coffee grows more bitter the hotter the water used to brew it. That plus time, and quantity of water influences the bitterness of coffee and generally you don't use boiling water for coffee at all. So "boiling it more" would actually make it taste worse not better.

IDK, I know 0 of my friends/colleagues, who drink espresso type of coffee; we mostly add sugar and it's pretty good for people who never tried it

When I gave cheese to my Chinese exchange students for the first time I bought the strongest french blue Cheese I could find because I thought the more exotic it tastes the more interesting it is. I read online that Chai is made with spices but I forget which ones. I'm having trouble getting past the boiling of the milk. We [Canadian Prairies] pour boiling water over the tea bag in a vessel and let it steep/sit for 3 minutes. Remove the teabag, add sugar and cold milk to taste.

They did the right thing. Espresso or Americano are great as a first taste to know what coffee actually taste like. Then it comes the variations with milk, chocolate or vainilla and then, _and only then,_ you can add sugar or honey. The same goes for liquor or beer. As a first time, you just can't give a shot of tequila, vodka or a beer diluted in soda or whatever.... people have to taste it first straight as they come out of the bottle in order to appreciate the actual flavor for the first time. Just like honey or sugar are sweet; alcohol or coffee are bitter, that's how it naturally taste like. People needs to remember that bitter conforms a part of the basic human taste, it can be unpleasant, sharp, or disagreeable on the first time, yes! However, that's actually what makes coffee what it is. It's proven by science that adding sweeteners to everything (in order to make everything sweet) can distort the perception and confuse the brain synapses. The masses can drink poison mixed with a sweetener (sugar is the most common but not the only one) and never be aware that they're drinking poison, that's why sodas, canned fruit juice and nectars have a huge success, they're all gross artificial stuff mixed with sugar emulating natural flavors, that can confuse the brain by thinking it's a natural flavor, but it isn't, all of that while the rest of the organs suffer the consequences of those beverages.
