So after travelling for six days as I have told you, you come to a city called SAPURGAN. It has great plenty of everything, but especially of the very best melons in the world. They preserve them by paring them round and round into strips, and drying them in the sun. When dry they are sweeter than honey, and are carried off for sale all over the country. - Marco Polo

i promise you, the west is missing out on the WORLDS BEST grapes, melons, dried fruits like raisins and mulberries and barberries, and bread, all in Afghanistan. I've always wanted my friends to think it typical to travel to Afghanistan and experience the food and culture. I have never had a better grape in my life than the little green and red grapes. not even these American "cotton candy" grapes have the natural sweetness. they were like tiny tiny sweet caviar bubbles for boba tea but better, and had an amazing texture. love these videos; because the truth is the average Afghan is this sweet, this kind, this loving, this open minded, this generous, this innocent, and we deserve to see the true Afghan depicted.

@Redgren Grumbholdt you know your idiocy bothered me before but let me set you straight since you want to be clever... our hash (which you likely cannot discern from the garbage you pay $60 an eighth for) is good because we are artisans and masters of our craft and know OUR LAND; something very few peoples can relate to anymore, because of colonization and cultural erasure brought to us by outsiders... our cannabis and poppies and melons and grapes and pomegranates and wheat and copper and gems and lithium AND NATURAL GAS THAT YOU ALL LOVE indeed are THE BEST, because GOD blessed us with our NATURAL land. which colonizers and opportunists from the west, north, south and east, have ALL tried to take from us, while demonizing us, while selling our goods and us out, for their own profit. Afghanistan is a utopia, its People are divine, and everyone demeans and laughs at and counts us as 'collateral damage,' not because you are actually better people, but because WE HAVE WHAT YOU WANT. we most certainly have THE WORLDS BEST of many things, including your precious 'hash,' such a pain in the ass to hear another goober ganja obsessed boob giggle his way through saying 'aND tHE hAsH.' we don't call it hash, outsider, and you can't have any. go buy your 'afghan' from your weed guy named scoober and imagine that its 'as good' as your 8% thc 'gelato cookie lake tahoe girl scout bubba purple wizard master og headband' bullshit. trying to have a real ass conversation and here comes asshat mcfunnyguy to kiki and pollute with some bull he thinks he knows.
@SoVerySasa
@SoVerySasa 3 года назад
@Redgren Grumbholdt you obviously lack rhetorical forensic and debate knowledge; as you are gracefully making my point. i've met FAR more than one loud and ignorant westerner, and you qualify. your statement was that you won't judge other afghans based on your experience with me, and my response was to point out that i've met a million of you, and you all say the same reductive and ignorant shit, and you've only virtually interacted with one of me, who wasn't impressed and didn't hold their tongue. your comment was stupid. and so are you. none of this back and forth changes that.

what I like most of this format is that they are trying a lot of dishes from other cultures that we Western people use to see as the same because cultural ignorance and they have their minute to tell about their own products and stuff. I rather that point instead they try food from USA and UK which are hardly far well enough representated in our minds because of colonialism. This is more MORE cool and I appreciate your work to show the diversity and give them a voice that we can hear. Regards from Spain!

@Caperhere
@Caperhere 2 года назад
Where I live in Canada, many people from Lebanon have been here for generations. Their food is delicious, and has become part of our culture. We make cabbage rolls, a mixture of rice and ground beef stuffed inside a rolled up cabbage roll, in a spicy tomato sauce. That recipe, if it is made by someone with a Lebanese background, is made with ground lamb instead of beef, and grape leaves instead of cabbage rolls. Some of the taste is from them using cinnamon and mint. They make other dishes, like kibby, which is squares of raw ground beef and spices. I’ve never tasted it, but my husband loves it. And some manage to grow grapes here in our climate.

One strange aspect, not reffering to the food they try or whatever, but has my attention, is that I recognize some of the words in these videos. Today I recognized "kharbouz" or melon. In the dialect of Macedonian that I speak, we use "karpuz" also, but for watermelon. We probably got it from the ottomans, who got it from the iranians. I've recognized other words as well, but I can't remember now. But it's interesting that a dialect of a language can have similar words with a language spoken thousands of miles away.

@Haniya Awan what are Pakistani clothes ? 😂😀. U guys don't have anything of ur own . Majority of Ur culture , ur language , ur food is the same as an indian muslim .other than that balochs are Iranians and pashtuns are originally Afghans . Pakistan is an artificial country created just for political reasons .
@kingk9363
@kingk9363 3 года назад
@@bindurajeev2822 you must be quiet dumb to compare nationality with ethnicity. Pakistani is a nationality not an ethnic group. When someone says Pakistani clothes, they mean what majority of the people wear in Pakistan. For e.g. pashtun clothing; the population of pashtuns in Pakistan is higher than the whole population of Afghanistan (pashtuns make up only 40% of Afghanistan). Then you got sindhis, Punjabis and Baloch etc. that also share their own unique clothing across he country. You have multiple ethnicities living in a country which get togey with a Nationality caller Pakistan. And of course the food is similiar to what they have in India since the country was once part of the subcontinent. It's not rocket science, just simple logic.
@bindurajeev2822

Interesting that people have this notion! Being Pashtun does not preclude you from speaking Dari. I am Pashtun Afghan and I don’t know a word of Pashto. Grew up speaking Dari, all the other Afghan families we associate with speak Dari as well. Pashtun people/ethnic group and the Pashto language are not synonymous. Especially in Kabul and other highly populated cities you will more likely hear Dari in the streets. I’m sure a Pashto speaker will disagree with me on this, but the only Pashto-default speakers I have encountered personally in my lifetime are Pakistani. I know they exist in Afghanistan but we do default to Dari much of the time. Even on tv, news, etc. however there are dedicated Pashto stations and programs.

It is incredible how different cultures sometimes have same food procedures. In Italy red melons are consumed fresh but white melons, mainly in the south sometimes are suspended in nets made of wicker and these melons dry on their skin but internally they preserve their water and can lasts for months before being consumed. Neapolitan white melons however are very small compared with these Afghanistan melons, that are of dimensions of our red melons. www.agricoltura.regione.campania.it/tipici/tradizionali/melonenapoli.htm

No kidding. I would LOVE to try to grow them...I've had good luck with other varieties, but I can't find these seeds anywhere on the internet. It's a national treasure, I guess.

You might find the opening sentence of this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PX_laaF3CvI.html very striking. I transcribe it (inaccurately) as "chi gofti naameshe?" (what did you say its name was?) which google translate informs me translates into Romainian as " ce ai spus că se numește?"; the similarity of the beginning and end is no coincidence!

Yes, khabruza is also used in Hindi. Many words are derived from Arabic and used in Hindi.
