Honestly though this is another reason why James is Thomas's most underrated Character. Seriously he's so smart and practically stalks Diesel in order to trick him

That is an impressive take on what happened after Duck left. I liked how James turned detective and caught Diesel out.

A great way to show why James grew to dislike Diesels. This just makes it better when in certain stories he completes his arc. I can't think of any off the top of my head though.

I say both this and Percy’s Ploy are about Diesel blown his cover and the Fat Controller scolded him and leaves off to A Close Shave

How could James even see Diesel with Gordon blocking his view? Gordon would be more likely to see him.

So James wasn’t just bragging when he told Duncan he sent a diesel packing.

Amazing narration, clever ideas and overall, an amazing story. The only thing i wish Is that diesel told líes about James and Henry, as in, in the RWS story, TFC told duck that diesel told lies about Henry, that way the story alines perfectly. And making a three parter.

I cracked up as soon as I saw that The Fat Controller was with James! Totally left Diesel realizing that he was caught that time.

This is quite an interpretation of James the red engine, and the middle events between Diesel’s devious deed, and a close shave for Duck. When it comes to time frames, I would say this makes a bit more chronological sense compared to the other version that is Percy‘s ploy. Otherwise, fan work that always delights and sometimes impresses me.

This sounds like the story that James would have told Duncan about how he supposedly sent Diesel packing.

I personally think this is a wonderful James episode. He’s always portrayed in a boastful, arrogant, unpleasant engine. Especially in the Brenner Era. But here, it shows him be the hero instead of the antagonist. I love that.

Idea for a story: Fire in the Forest (based on an incident at Briagolong, Australia). James has come to grief with his fuel tankers catching fire so Sir Topham Hatt gives his job to Gordon and Bear takes the express. James will be doing light duties instead. Gordon is upset about pulling fuel trains but Sir Topham Hatt tells him really useful engines don't argue. It is a hot day and when he enters Henry's Forest with his train, where Henry is finding trucks filled with firewood to take away, Gordon's tankers catch fire. Indeed, Henry's Forest does burn down, and so do the firewood trucks and tankers, yet both Henry and Gordon escape alive. Sir Topham Hatt tells Gordon he wants him to know the incident was not his fault, but really useful engines do as they are told. Gordon shall be pulling fuel trains until further notice. Henry, James, Bear and Boco get to share the express

Tbh when Desiel is the antagonist my only question is WHY IS THE DRIVER OKAY WITH THIS DOSE HE WANT TO GET FIRED? like topem hat has to have hired these guys to drive these trains WHY ARE THEY GOING AGAINST THERE JOB I question this any time a character dose a actull bad thing and not a accident

This is very much similar to Percy's Ploy but done in a different take.

Tricks and Deeds is the best episode because it shows how The Fat Controller caught Diesel in the act and sent him packing for spreading lies about Duck to the trucks

It would be something if this was one of the actual deleted scenes from the episode

Of course, the fact controller sides with the big engines until he sees the truth I mean, honestly does he really think duck would have the guts to call Gordon James and Henry those names
