Tricks For Targeting Offshore Bass In Early Summer!

We're about to catch a GIANT Bass while fishing offshore! After the spawn a lot of bass move to offshore structures for the Summer. Targeting these fish can be overwhelming if you've never seen how to do it. We're here to teach you how they position, why they're there, and what to use to catch them. It may be difficult to fish without the visual cues at first, but we'll show you how to do it!
Many anglers prefer the comfort of fishing near shore. And while we don't blame them, we highly recommend you spend a little time away from the bank this year. There are a lot of giant bass to be caught, and you can do it with several very simple lures and presentations. Today Matt catches the majority of his fish on a shakey head worm, but the GIANT commits to the wobble head creature bait. It's really common to catch your kicker for the day this way, and highlights why we use swinging jig heads for Summer bass!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits Matt used throughout the day. We've included the exact rods and reels as well, along with specifics on head sizes, worm colors, etc. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I sometimes fish a very shallow pond with very little structure or features and no dam. There is a ton of grass and a very small amount of timber. I usually target shade lines, and fish the grass with a frog, weedless swimbait or Texas rig. I also pitch jigs and T-rigs around the little bit of wood there is. I had a friend catch a 9 pounder out of there 2 years ago and ever since I’ve been trying to catch my pb out of there but haven’t caught anything bigger than a 4 pounder at this pond. I’ve fished it for tons and tons of hours but still can’t figure out where the big fish are holding. Where would the big largemouth be in the summer? There is very little depth change but I’m sure the middle is a few feet deeper. I have made hundreds of casts out to the middle of the pond and I’ve caught a few but no giants. Most bites come paralleling the shore. I’m at a loss with this place and I’m getting frustrated. Where are the giant largies at in this pond?

Throw a bigger bait, in the heaviest cover available...I'd Throw a 7" soft jerkbait.. 12" texas rig worm another option.. u want the biggest bass...big baits
@DinkswithDean
@DinkswithDean 3 месяца назад
Just like Andy just said before, big baits in the summer for big fish. My addition would be to try to venture into flipping and/or pitching jigs instead of a texas rig. The bulkier profile of a jig just seems to pull in bigger bites in comparison. I'd recommend checking out their summer jig video from last year as a very good place to start. Last but not least don't be afraid to burn a buzz bait or even a weightless texas rigged creature bait over topped out grass and other places you'd throw a frog. I've caught tons of 5+ pounders just last year in NY in July when it's 90° on top water reaction baits. Don't be afraid to throw lures that are a little outside the box. Good luck and tight lines

Yeah dude I caught a ten pounder one time and cleaned it and seen a snake in her stomach so that told me to throw big long worms and boom I caught a 14 pounder it was crazy . So I would say throw big worm

When you find good vegetation in deeper water, or stumps, cypress trees, or any tree really, will a ned rig with a good senko or your bait of choice not work well? I've had way more success with neds than shaky heads.

Appreciate the vedio info. Realize you have alot going on while you film and fish, but can you try to give more on weight used. You describe bait and type of shaky head, or lure and depth, but not at same time. It would be great to hear that the fish was caught on 3/16 shaky head at 15 feet or used the wobble head 1/2 ounce at 20 feet. You said once you were at 20 feet, but its tough to use the 3/16 at 20 feet because at that depth with wind, it is almost impossible to keep/feel bottom. I'm relatively new to techniques so learning these facts really helps. Maybe in description put depth. Thanks you guys do a great job so I'm not complaining just hoping you add info. Thanks

Why don’t you should swap the scale hook to a lip clip? Safer for the fish when they thrash. Unless the health of the fish is not your concern.
@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 3 месяца назад
Quite the contrary. The oversized hook, when used properly (carefully placed outside the last gill raker) does zero damage, ever. I'd rather hang them securely than accidentally drop a fish when the clip opens. The internet is full of great ideas, but when it comes to giant bass, not all of them are proven.

@tacticalbassin
@tacticalbassin 3 месяца назад
We do not disclose lakes unless we will personally pay the price for the increase in pressure. As we've grown through the years, the pressure that follows has grown exponentially. We don't feel it's fair to bring that pressure to random fisheries where locals pay the price for us passing through. However, if it's a local lake to us and we will pay the price... we say every time. I hope that clears it up! This particular lake is natural but behaves exactly like every Southern Lowland Reservoir I've ever fished. I hope that provides some clarity!
