Tried Fried Ramen Snack Recipes from TikTok

Maplecook and I tried out a few viral crispy ramen snack recipes from TikTok. The first hack is instant Shin ramyun noodles tossed with the seasoning mix. The second recipe involves boiling the ramen noodles before air frying them in the oven. For the last method, I boiled, then deep fried the ramen to make noodle chips.

Great collab you guys! I loved this video :):) Looks like you two had a blast! My best friend & I used to eat ramen like that when we were kids, just crumbled up in the bag raw with a spice pack. Looking back, I wonder what was I thinking!? Marc's method is so much better!

😆 Glad we could bring back some memories! The noodles are flash fried at the factory so they should technically be okay to eat straight out of the bag, but they're usually pretty stale by the time you get them because they're not meant to be eaten that way.

Not sure where it originated from, but mixing the dried noodles with the sauce packet is a common thing in Hawaii! Never seen it done with spicy ramen though. Typically, I've used Sapporo Ichiban or Maruchan original

I'd image the idea came about independently in a bunch of places as soon as people figure out that instant ramen is fried at the factory. Thanks Nicholas! This definitely works best with the cheap flash-fried noodles (curly with a light color) because the noodles are more porous and absorb the seasoning better. It should still work with fresh noodles, but they may take a little longer to fry up crisp and might not absorb the seasoning as well.

Shenanigans in two countries ✅✔ Goofball factor ✅✔ Good chemistry, good fun ❣ So I am thinking the seasoned, fried ramen crunchies would make excellent croutons in a salad, a spicy topper to a casserole, or ...totally going wild here...cover them in a dark chocolate for a "bark" type candy. There is chili chocolate, am I right? 😉😂🤩
@NoRecipes
@NoRecipes Год назад
I use these as a crunchy topping for salads and I also like putting some in sandwiches for a little extra crunch (really good in chicken or tuna salad). Great idea using as a topping for casseroles, but the chocolate bark is just next level genius! Bacon + chocolate works, and spicy + chocolate works so I could totally see this working (though not so sure about the curry powder).

Interesting, I've been buying into a ramen noodle company for a while now. and not every single time I'm eating ramen, but maybe I can turn it into fried noodles as I got a couple hundred packets of it lmao. :D perhaps I can even update it with the Umami Powder you came up with as it's 90% flavor where other spiced blends in the packets may overseason even fried noodles. Thanks for the idea.
@NoRecipes
@NoRecipes Год назад
Wow that's a nice one to have in the portfolio for the perks😆 The umami powder will work, but you'll probably want to add some other seasonings to it. After doing this it occurred to me that I could also dust with additional seasonings after frying for even more flavor (i.e. cheese powder or malt vinegar powder).

@NoRecipes Год назад
@@kathcares Yea, that's how they make salt and vinegar potato chips. It's a nice ingredient to have in the pantry. I love sprinking it on everything from popcorn to to fish and chips (I don't like using liquid vinegar because it makes the batter soggy)

@@NoRecipes Oh no, I meant I'm a consumer on the side of the business circle. so I'm buying from several ramen companies, ones like a Japanese-based one that ships monthly with a themed collection and a few other Japanese chefs that I follow promote ramen companies as a list on their amazon (hmm? not to sure what or how chefs promote on amazon lists?") and that is how I get hundreds of packets of noodles with seasonings. E-Fu or Insta Ramen. lol. thus now I'm trying to get rid of said, but still, a good idea to use your umami powder blend or layer it with extra flavors after the frying. hmm, I wonder, is there a way to dehydrate Japanese pickles? or perhaps just mix a bunch of already processed things like cheese powder or vinegar powder into already dehydrated cucumber and beer pickles? Hmm, so many ideas to play with, and the staple of ramen is the building block.
@NoRecipes
@NoRecipes Год назад
@@coldstone01 Oh, I see! As for dehydrating Japanese pickles, I sometimes see pickle like umeboshi or shibazuke sold freeze-dried (usually as a mix-in for rice). I don't think you can get them dehydrated enough to grind to a powder in a regular food dehydrator. Another option is to use yukari which is a powder made from dried shiso leaves and salt.
