Have you been stretching your neck and shoulders to try to relieve pain? Often times, stretching can only provide temporary relief and is not enough. Trigger points in the neck and shoulder needs to be released. There are many different ways and tools to do so. One of the most effective ways is dry needling or IMS. We can do this at EastWest Physiotherapy Burnaby.
If you do not have access to a practitioner that does this, try using the theracane instead! Because of the anatomy of the neck and shoulders, typical techniques are not comfortable and effective in relieving these trigger points. The theracane is a great tool to help release trigger points in the neck and shoulders. It can help reach hard to reach areas and uses leverage to apply sustained pressure on these points. Highly Recommended!
This video will show you how to use the theracane effectively to help relieve trigger points in your neck and shoulder. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions!

Dude ! Thank you from an old chook in Australia for this fantastic tutorial. My headache that I have had for 10 days is gone. I was outside watering in the cold wind and got a chill on my traps and neck....keep up the great work.

This is great! I've had a theracane forever and was just using it to massage. But now with these trigger points you showed me, I feel it is wayyy more effective! I should've been doing this a long time ago but there's no better time than now. Thank u

I put pressure on the T.P. with my T.C. and move my shoulder. This adds more relief and I can feel the knots "popping". It feels so much better moving with the T.C. Basically working that area with localized pressure and movement works for me.

Thanks for this! My question is, on the neck, which areas do you have to avoid? For example, the carotid artery pulse area? Do you have to stay further back relative to the ear? You mention "different parts of the side of the neck"... maybe you could just clarify, thanks!

Hi Lynda, Yes be careful and avoid applying pressure in the front of the neck due to sensitivity of the major blood vessels on the front/side of the neck. Applying pressure on muscles behind the ear and the mastoid process is fine.

Hi thank you for this. Can a person do microneedling on themself? Does it require school training?

Thanks for watching! You will need training to use needles if you want to needle yourself. You need to know the depth and location of needling for safety.

I feel the Theracane isn’t strong enough when it comes to the pressure
