There is a lot of talk about making end detection accurate and repeatable, especially for the Z axis of 3D printers. How does using stallGuard as "crash detection" fare in regards to this? Is it suitable for a Z which needs say 50um of accuracy and high repeatability, or only suitable for X and Y which are only used as reference points to move away from?

We have implemented it for some commercial 3D printers for all axes. If Z works depends on a few parameters. 1st Z has to be a hard stop, if it is equipped with springs below the bed, it will not work.
