I have the Daytona 660. Had it for about 3 weeks riding daily. I really love it. The comfort and controllable power is a 10/10 for me. I also love the style and balance.

In Australia the Daytona 660 is $14,790 and the RS 660 starts at $22,740. From a price perspective, at least in our market, these are odd bikes to directly compare.

@@PetroHead Two sports bikes in vastly different price brackets with different aims, and you seem to completely gloss over the main difference - price. Why not compare the Ninja 650 with a GSXR-600 by your logic?

The Daytona looks pretty good. I have seen it in February on a show in Utrecht (NL). The 600 is coming back to life. Withe the RS660, the Triumph and Kawasaki ZX6R and Honda CBR600RR. So there is choice. All the bikes have their own special qualities and specs. That is nice.

Both should be practical, semi-fun bikes to ride on the street with great looks. The Aprillia is superior in every measurable way...but almost 3k more, poor dealer network, and a bad reputation for reliability, they come out pretty even when it's time to drop the money.

As an RS660 owner, I would say stay away from Aprilias. Terrible built bikes for the road. Not suitable for road use. Only track use. Poor quality.

The RS660 is Aprilia's best seller and they are way more reliable than RSV.

Pretty much agree with your take here. The D660 isn't meant to be a direct competitor for the RS660. They're aimed at two different buyers with a more than significant price difference in most markets. The D660 is very much like a slightly sportier CBR650R and is priced that way.

Yeah, I was amazed that here in Switzerland the difference between the RS660 (35kw model, which when derestricted has the same 95 hp like the D660) is only 500 EUR. And full power model with extra 5 hp is another 600 EUR on top.

I owned an RS660 for a year, and I adored it. It was the ultimate street-sports bike in my opinion - just enough power for the road. I had a go on the Daytona 660 yesterday, and whilst it was a hoot to ride (super light, at least compared to my Z900RS, and flickable), it was quite lacking. Not enough tech for the price. RS660 any day though. Can't beat the noise of that thing, nor the smile it put on my face.

To be fair the Daytona is 2 grand less. It’s more bike and less tech but I agree it’s not as torquey as the 660 but that has something to do with its 3 cyl

Hey petro, need some opinion. I found a 2020 tuono v4 1100 rr for 11.9k at a dealer. I checked it and it looked good for used. Is this worth a buy? Closest dealer to me is about 4 hours away.

I’m not up to date on used prices but you need to ask yourself if you’re comfortable with dealer being 4 hours away. I prefer used as apposed to new because the previous owner will prob have fixed issues (I like anything above 3K miles for that reason)

the Aprilia RS660 has the looks but Triumph have the motor and the ergonomics for enjoying the ride regardless of speed and the Daytona 440 should put a dent in the sales other brands thought they had sewn up

I hear the breaks are from J. Juan which was acquired by Brembo. Can anyone refute this?

That's the speculation but I don't know if anyone knows for sure yet. J. Juan is pretty good stuff. Another possibility is Bybre, which is also a Brembo brand positioned for small-midsized bikes (They might be using older/superseded Brembo designs). That's less likely, I think. They could be Nissin, but they're usually branded on Triumph bikes, so I doubt it.

The Daytona is unfortunately only half painted. If you get any colour other than black you can see they didnt bother with the back half of the bike. Real shame as its nice looking font half. Also i class the RS660 in a different league TBH. Thats more comparable to the CBR600RR than any of the other 650/660 bikes soft sport bikes (and I own a 24 CBR650R and class it as soft sport with the others).

Gen 3 765R $10200. The Daytona 765 was $17500 ... the mark-up was way too much.

I agree... way overpriced but because they use the engine in Moto2 and put tons of carbon bits on it, they thought they could get top dollar.. wrong.. the market decides what it's worth.

It drives me nuts every time I see an Aprilia rs 660 comparison to any other motorcycle " in it's class" NO STOP ! IN ITS CLASS IS MUCH BETTER MOTORCYCLES - ITS 11,000 DOLLARS. new in my area are mt-09 sp for 9500, gsx s1000 for 9800, duke 890 for 6900 - stop comparing it to bikes that are 30% cheaper !!!!!!

I own an RS660. While it is a great track bike, it is a terrible road bike. Way too bumpy even after adjustment. Too light and unstable at high speed cruise. Rear brakes keep screeching. As a result I ride this bike slower than the Triumph as I feel less confident.

Honestly I own a RS660 and a 24 panigale V4S, and it's honestly astounding to me how well the ape compares to a bike that costs 3X as much. I absolutely love my RS660.
