Triumph is like a girlfriend of the early 80’s, it’s all about the feelings and how much you miss it, so very much. I was there and miss them both very much
Absofuckinglutely they are!! People are stupid for underrating such an incredible band!! They'll always be one of my faves!! So glad I grew up in this era and was able to jam to this awesome band on a regular basis!!❤
I'm a girl who is almost 40, but my father showed me a bunch of great singers and bands. I always liked Rik's guitar versatility! He is amazing! I'm never get tired of his singing talent, but his guitar playing is a class art! I love TRIUMPH and his solo... Holy ghost... it's incredible! Lots of love from Russia!
Thanks a lot! It's a remarkable song for me like NEVER SURRENDER, MAGIC POWER and NEVER SAY NEVER! I also write my own poems which were created after hearing one rock voice in the lyrical tenor range at the age of 10. This singer impressed me so much. One miracle happened in May and my poems turned into lyrics in English for possible songs.
@@lady_in_blue83 Yes think positive and follow your dreams. It's worked for me for decades. Some instances I gave up too soon. Never throw in the towel prematurely like I sometimes did..
exactly, just like apirl wine and prism and toronto and harlequien and the headpines, all gd bands that nev er got the attention they should have got, buts when politics started getting involved and ruined a gd thing.
I love collecting Triumph stuff like T-shirts and different and unique things that nobody else has. Triumph USA Rock and Roll hall of fame. Yes Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. They are in the Canadian Rock and Roll HOF.
What an awesome band. I used to listen to them in the 1980's. Went through some difficult times being fresh out of college and not knowing what to do with my life, I felt like ending it. Truimph's positive uplifting songs got me through it. Now in my 50's I am struggling with work politics and worried about my job when I randomly stumbled on this video. It sure gives me hope and strength to carry on. Thanks for posting, I'm sure their music has helped many.
Thanks for sharing that. We all feel that type of pressure, and it's great to know that, when just about everything and everyone disappoints, music is always there for us.
I'm going through the same issues bud! Hearing this song got me happy and reminds me just like you what great music Triumph gave us growing up in the 80's.
I've loved Triumph ever since I heard Lay It On the Line back in 1979 on the radio in Philadelphia during my high school days. These days the radio sucks so bad I turn to YT and Spotify for new music.
I added this to my 80's Rock playlist. The 80's gave us the best music to date. I remember my day took me to the lake sometime in the 80's. He must of had this cassette on the whole trip.
Positive messages! Awesome musicianship all around! Fantastic stage shows! What else could you ask for? Maybe a lot more respect from the music industry.
“Music holds the secret, to know it can make you whole, it’s not just a game of notes, it’s the sounds inside your soul. The magic of the melody runs through you like a stream, the notes that play flow through your head like a dream.” As a person who plays my guitar atleast 5 times a week these are the most important lyrics ever written.
@@korycostango5327 it is from the beginning of this song "hold on," this video begins well after the song starts. The whole intro section is missing. Try giving a listen to the studio cut and you will find the treasure
@@korycostango5327 This video. Opening lyrics to this song. 1st verse of "Hold On". This video begins half way into the song by the way. Here is the song in full: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oyK9sNWZhJs.html
I just can't believe he's 70 years old and he still sings like this! He and the band are great! Only he's out on his own, but he still sings like this! 😊❤
I fell in love with the uplifting words and the fantastic singing of Ric. I bought all of the albums and replaced them all with CDs. I absolutely loved Triumph. Thank you for the words I desperately needed to hear as a young person dealing with daily trauma. Now I'm 57 and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at 50. I have new challenges and have to be stronger than ever before. I am not able to walk and cognitive abilities are leaving me. I will listen to the CDs again and use them to drive me once more. I sincerely thank you Rik Emmett. I'm probably the only person in Georgia that loves your fantastic work from way back. Debra Barton
Absolute rock and roll showmanship x 10. Amazing inspiring song for life. Rik acts like he was born with that guitar hanging on him. Absolutely amazing song among many of theirs. Turn it up!
Three things impressed me about Triumph when I first saw this video as a 10 year old kid back in 1981: 1) Rik Emmett's double neck guitar was not just for show. He actually played BOTH NECKS! 2) The electric sign behind the stage that lights up the words "TRIUMPH". 3) The drummer looks cool in sunglasses and never takes them off!
@@dougsydnes8047 I just watched it. I came away impressed with his knowledge of the history of the electric guitar as well. I respect anyone who knows and loves the history of their craft
This is when i discovered triumph. From the just a game album. Brings back a lot of memories. I was 16 when this song hit the radio. I had just started my first job, flipping burgers at Krystal. Lol. After closing, my co-workers and i would sit on our cars and listen to songs like this and other stuff that was on at the time, like another brick in the wall and dance the night away by van Halen, so much good music from that time. I feel very fortunate to be young when this kind of music was new and everywhere
Anthology of my Youth. The best damn music. Ever! If you guys read these comments , I want to thank you from my soul for making these beautiful notes to live by.
Man Rik is just mesmerizing! Talk about stage presence, and that voice, it's out of this friggin world! Add to that his masterful guitar playing. He sure was easy to look at too!!! The whole band are just the epitome of what rock music should be!
Ok, Rik Emmet slays it all. Rock God VOICE, spellbounding guitar playing, pure energetic entertainment, sexy looks. The whole band is off the charts bad ass!!
My husband introduced me to them when we started dating in the early 80's....when we hear them it is crack it up and jam! Great voice and wonder why they are not in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame!
Triumph should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. They are in the Canadian Rock and Roll hall of fame though. I hope that they get in sometime soon. They totally deserve to be in it.
These guys were on a heavy rotation playing in my car. And the next guys car,,, and those people at the picnic table way over there,,, and the dudes in the boat in the middle of the lake. Always got a 😎👍🏻and no complaints blasting Triumph.
Underappreciated is more apt, I think. Triumph was big in pockets of the US, but not really across the country, for whatever reason. Loved them here in Buffalo, but they never got as big as they deserved imo.
I grew up in the southern US in the 80’s...Why am I hearing them for the first time in my 50’s? This guy has an amazing voice!! Phenomenal sound and talent!
MTV broadcasted a Concert from 1981 Allied Forces tour. Live from Baltimore. Triumph's best recording of Fight the Good Fight and Magic Power. Way better then the album versions. Highly recommend you check out that awesome concert!!
What Spinal Tapp wished they were! Epic writing by all 3. Tiny example 2:04 ascending chord, 2:11 descending 2:18 but wait "fate gives you the chance you've got to take it!!!"
Rik Emmett is still on the road (before COVID) doing live shows - and he still shreds and sounds great. Gil Moore runs Metalworks Studios and Mike Levine had a music promotion/live production business before and after Triumph. Rik has a unique view of music - lots of course changes and gets bored easily - that was hard to match to other guys in a band that wanted to just keep rocking and playing awesome live shows. Not blaming Rik - just saying things ran their course and all 3 guys ended up just fine - happy and productive.
Rik still has an amazing voice. Obviously not the same as 30 years ago. But if you listen to Geddy Lee on tour in the last ten years, you’d think he was never able to sing. Hey I tried watching some live Rush shows from the last few years and I couldn’t get past three songs. It was awful
What incredible intensity! Just sheer dynamic awesomeness. How Rik could sing like that while scorching through a blistering riff is beyond me. And Gil and Mike backed him up with the most solid bass and drum tracks imaginable. Add in their light show and enormous stage presence, and you got the Total Package.
Such a wonderful song - Uplifting, soul saving. Love the comment "sunshine for the soul" - Thats what this is. I have sent the video to my daughter, to brighten her journey...
Now, I am truly so excited, I will be 55 in a couple of weeks and I have had the absolute pleasure of rocking out with these beautiful men! I still like gospel listen to them and they still blow my mind, 2 see them live was what can I say! Awesome Awesome love love love
I saw them in 1983 at Nassau Coliseum in NY (Long Island)on their Never Surrender tour. Best stage show I ever saw. The light show and all the fancy pyrotechnic lights and big puffs of light sparkles would pop out if the stage. Lots of fun
Brings back memories. Definitely one of my top cassettes / CDs . Always where I could find it. In with my Yes , Rush , Kansas, Tull and Led Zeppelin. Heavy play on road trips. Great driving music.
For whatever reason, Canada has churned out some of the most talented three-piece bands in rock history. Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Rush, and these guys are at the top of the list. 😄👍🇺🇸
I grew up on the Canadian border and as an American I was fortunate enough to get to have Canadian radio and Canadian rock. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
@@charlotteknutsen7262 // Back in 1979/80, I purchased my first new set of Tama drums since that's what was being played by Gil Moore (Triumph) and Stewart Copeland (The Police). Chose the same color as Moore's (Royal Pewter), but only the single kick-drum version. Awesome drum breaks on this tune! 😀👍🇺🇸
Cheers to Rick, Mike and Gil.Best wishes from Mike in Windsor,Ont.Proud of what u three achieved.Easily Triumph is in the top ??? of alltime great artists/bands.Hope all is well.Best wishes.
What is it with Canadian bands from this era? High pitched screaming vocals that no one else can touch. Three-man bands that sound like 10 people rocking as hard as they can. And that ability to establish a cultish following by doing what seems impossible on stage. I'm not really comparing RUSH and Triumph, but I am super impressed by both. And they're not afraid of names no other band would ever consider: think Honeymoon Suite.
Music holds the secret, to know it can make you whole It's not just a game of notes, it's the sounds inside your soul The magic of the melody runs through you like a stream The notes that play flow through your head like a dream (like a dream) Like a dream I sing this song for the common man, for the people in despair I bring my song into the world and I sing it everywhere The simple truth lies waiting here for everyone to share So hold on and I will take you there Hold on and I will take you there The daily routine takes your soul, lost without a trace It holds you down and turns you 'round and puts you in your place Another day, another dollar, another pretty face Another chance to lose yourself in the endless race Hold on, hold on to your dreams Hold on, even though it seems Everyone around you has their little schemes Listen to your heart, and hold on to your dreams Can't you feel the magic, feel it everywhere Can't you hear the music, there's something in the air There's a celebration deep within a song Celebrate this feeling, you know it can't be wrong Hold on, hold on to your dreams Hold on, even though it seems Everyone around you has their little schemes Listen to your heart, and hold on to your dreams Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Caught up in routine, you've got to break it Time won't wait for us, we got to make it Fate gives you the chance, you've got to take it Take it Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on
Stumbled on a triumph video couple of days ago and now i'm nonstop playing them all over and over again .................. Ohh Were that music was this good now-a-days ...................
Triumph is one of my favorite bands ! I got my drivers license,i and had their 8 track Just a game. I rode all over blasting it out the car windows,so everyone could hear this great Canadian band !
