"Lay it on the Line" OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO TRIUMPH A NIGHT OF TRIUMPH METRO CENTRE ARENA - HALIFAX, NS January 6, 1987 Visit the new TRIUMPH website: www.TriumphMusic.com
I'm 70 now, lived the era. Wondering where it all went, my kids and grandkids will never understand. Wasn't always easy but would do it all again If given the chance. Triumph, one of the GREATEST!
20sk Haha yes I know the lead singer of Rush, the OTHER power rock trio from Canada. I just prefer Rik's vocals over Geddy's. Plus, he can hold those higher notes with more ease live than Geddy.
I never really dug Geddy's voice from the start..I tried & then stopped fooling myself,it's the reason well the main reason I didn't submerge myself in them after ATWAS & that will probably will not win me any friends.. lol..Gedd'ys extreme… Rik's about as far in that range that i ever wanna go.
MrMaukka10 Axl Rose, Freddie Mercury, Geddy Lee, Steven Tyler, Meatloaf, Lou Gramm, Jimmi Jameson, Ozzy Osbourne, Roger Daltrey, Roger Waters, Robert Plant, Brian Johnson. There ya go a dozen. Keep in mind, my comment referred to when they sing LIVE.
Wow. Pretty amazing. When you hear him sing on studio recordings his voice is so high and clear. But, you would expect him to be straining or trailing off at a live show. Apparently he can sing like that with almost no effort. Lucky man! Lucky us!
My oldest brother won a 2000 dollar flying v guitar and rick Emmett played a tune on it and my brother had a picture taken with him ill never forget that awesome concert
I was in 11th grade in high-school and I saw Triumph 3 times and it was the most profound time in my life , I still jam to their music like I was there yesterday ✌
I seen over 200 concerts in my life bands like van Halen ozzy rush scorpions ac/dc none could touch triumph I seen them in Shreveport loisiana 1983 I was blown away awesome concert
Today they don't know how to make music, its differnt back then, its a differnt sound. Back then it was about the muscle and awsomeness with heart and soul. Today is all noise. Money, looks, and fame, with no talent.
@@jimbosc that era i can name better guitar players.. as far as singers go deffentley one of the greatest but guitar player fuc no. glen tipton, schenker, demartini, mathis jabs, eddie van Halen, randy rhoads, i can keep going
This was a hell of a show that I can remember, I went in after friends who worked at the Metro Center let me in the back stage entrance. I can't count the number of shows I saw there from the penalty box seats over a 4 yr time period....good times, good times indeed.
So refreshing to see/hear this and all the positive replies, letting me know that I'm not alone in my appreciation for this very under-appreciated band!
SaelPalani hi i just pulled into the parking lot at mission beach in san diego when i heard this song on the radio in the early 80s i turned my car around and booked it to tower records and bought this album in cassette, the went back to the beach rockn my ass off im now 57 and still rock out to triumph they are one of my favorite bands of all time and the lyrics are so clean and meaningful !
The second best band to come out of Canada. Saw them live in Dallas at Reunion Arena on February 16th 1985. Molly Hatchet opened for them. Triumph was using lasers during the show which at that time was high tech. Great Show and great music!!
man they kick ass...what a stage presence. like really...they are fucking POWERFUL. wish i could have seen triumph in their day, shame Im only 19. what a band.
+William Porter and I only discovered them about a year ago watching the US festival on utube under a friends recommendation lol.... oh well better late than never I guess 😊
I think it's great when people discover bands late. Another awesome find is Badfinger. Are you familiar with them. I almost hope not so you can discover them also.
THEY ARE SUPER TALENTS I DONT CARE HOW MUCH MY FRIENDS RAZZ ME ,80S HAIR BANDS ARE SIMPLY THE MOST TALEWNTED GROUP OF MUSICIANS AND SINGERS EVER.....THIS ERA OF MUSIC NEEDS A COMEBACK AND IT WOULD BLOW AWAY EVERTHING OUT THERE TODAY....IT WOULD HIT HUGE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE BEEBER AND THE LIKES COULDNT TOUCH THESE GUYS!OUR CHILDREN NEED THIS,...ITS MUSIC FOR YOUR SOUL.....
Saw some great concerts at the Civic Center thru the late 70's and 80's . For some reason alot bands loved playing there and put on some of their best shows of the tour there .
This is the first Triump song I ever heard and I love it. I was in Gatlinburg Tennessee with my hubby and this song convinced me that he was the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with
FABULOUS! Go Rik Go! Love every note of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike and Gil....ROCK ON! Miss this error because of shows like this!
Such an underrated band, let alone Rik Emmet's vocals. I'm 61 and I still listen to their music. The bands during this time were truly talented master's of music. There was no such thing as auto tuning. You had to be the real deal or you didn't survive in the business. I truly believe the Era I grew up in had the best music artists.
On the relationship level absolutely, in comparison to the deep level of RUSH not so much. But who cared, sometimes you wanted to think deep intellectually so you put on RUSH. Sometimes you just wanted to not think so much and just enjoy the depth of talent Triumph had, that was cool too. You know the adage some time you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. We in Southern Ontario, always had a heaping help of both, and enjoyed them both, and of course the 3rd Toronto Trio, FM with another completely different style of space prog. After that we got to enjoy the Trio Klaatu, with their pop/rock/prog musical passion. We were so lucky to have these incredible local Trio's kicking ass all over the place. Concerts were on all the time with them all, well Klaatu not so much, lol, and damn we had a good time.
Ya agreed brother, bring back the 80s I was in highschool back then class of 86, had the time of my life back in the 80s. 80s is better generation then today that much I can tell, it was a simpler time, everything was better music, television. anyways keep on rocking in the 80s I know I will.
Rik Emmett is my favorite singer he the voice of a god and one many rockers had. I can’t think of a rocker who has a better voice than his. If anyone has any one better let’s have it
Sharry Bucholz A brain tumor put an indefinite hold on the divinity of Lou Gramm's voice, but at his peak, I would have put him up against Rik Emmett anytime. Taking nothing away from Rik Emmett, you understand, imho, Lou Gramm is the GOAT. How awesome would it be to judge a sort of .."sing off"... between the two?
Saw them in '85 here in L.A., the additional guitarist had started touring with them. A great concert, loud and the band was sharp. Another band that broke up too soon!
he's such an awesome guitarist with a great voice. I saw Triumph several times and took pictures at one of their shows. I got a great pic of Ric playing a double neck guitar. It looked like he was having the time of his life.
I was a serious Triumph head in my high school days and then some. The greatest shows that I work all we're Triumph. Certainly the greatest Canadian band ever. Rik Emmett was truly underrated as both a singer and guitar player. He was world class both. The drummer was second only to Neil Peart. And they were using lasers and pyrotechnics long before everyone else
Been a huge fan ever since Progressions of Power, and have seen them live 5 times. They have so many classic songs, but this is my favorite Triumph song. Musically and lyrically this song is exceptional. I've been to lots of concerts since 1979, and Triumph had one of best stage shows I've ever seen. Rik Emmett is equally gifted on guitar as he is on vocals. Such a shame they broke up- I'm still hoping for reunion and tour!
