Nobody jams Rock ‘n Roll Machine with Triumph better than our buds Sebastian Bach, one of the greatest full throttle frontmen of all time and Phil X, the shredding legend !!!
RICK SANTER is up there playing rhythm and HE covered the vocals on the Emmett songs live. He played with them on the Sport of Kings tour, co-wrote music with them, so he has the creds to be there...(and they don't focus on him)?...he was from another Toronto power trio "SANTERS" and was close to the band from way back. Triumph just played together for the first time in 31 years as a power trio! I was there, it was fantastic!!!! Look for the " Lay it on the line" Documentary in 2020.
If I were Bas, I would get his band to do a Triumph "tribute" tour as part of his debut album with Skid Row's- retrospective. I saw Bas a few months ago and his band with Brent, Rob and Bobby did an awesome job plus to a packed house of +3,000 people, approximately ages 45 to 55 with kids and even grandkids in tow. These same people grew up with Triumph and other Canadian bands of that era plus these are the people (like me) that have money to spend!!! Both Rob and Brent sing well so that can handle the doubling of Rik's vocals though Gil sang lead as well from time to time .e.g. "Rock and Roll Machine" , "Spellbound", etc. Just my .02
YESSSSS!!!! I REMEMBER WATCHING TV COMMERCIALS ADVERTISING THE TRIUMPH " ROCK & ROLL MACHINE TOUR" HERE IN THE DALLAS- FORT WORTH AREA KEEP ROCKING.MEN!!!
@@thecollective1584 Triumph never had 5 on stage. On their last two tours supporting Sport of Kings and Surveillance they added a fourth member by the name of Rick Santers, another Canadian artist to fill out the sound as they were using more overdubs on the studio albums. When they reformed in 2008 for their two reunion shows in Sweden and Oklahoma they added Rik’s touring buddy Dave Dunlop to the sets to once again give the band a bigger sound.
Great jam, and good to see Moore and Levine together onstage, but Triumph without Rik Emmett is like Geddy and Neil onstage without Alex Lifeson. Not the same. The classic Triumph lineup doesn't have interchangeable parts.
Rik decided he wanted out and they broke up in 1988 and whatever happened hurt Rik bad.and they have only played together 3 times since. The last was 4 years ago in 20019. I hear you about Rik. Bach is navel lint compared to him.
Not unusual for any band performing live! I seen a live recording of Ian Gillan of Deep Purple leave out a whole verse from the song Perfect Strangers back in 1985.
was there front row (underage with fake id :D ) met Sebastian bach, sass jordan, jeff healey and slik toxik. lost my vhs tape of the show please let me know if u ave a copy from the tv airing :( one of the best nights of my life
I'm a Triumph purist so no Rik = no Triumph plus that weird whammy bar on Phil's guitar annoys me. I don't even know if this version of Trumph toured but only half the catalog could be done as Phil sings nothing like Rik. Who would want to hear Never Surrender in a low vocal register? Another bad luck moment was Edge Of Excess was on a record label that collapsed rather quickly.
No doubt seeing Moore & Lavine was awsome however they are not Triumph with out Emmett!! I love Sebastian, and would love for him to do his stuff. I think he's talented & underrated & unappreciated. I've loved Triumph since high school when everyone else was in love with Van Halen. You have to have the trio, Moore, Emmett & Lavine to have TRIUMPH!!!
I wish they would have kept going through the 90's, yeah Rik was important, but Gil Moore sang on just as many classics, and was better suited for the harder rock stuff. Edge of Excess isn't that bad of an album, i would have fleshed the band out with 2 more giutarists like they have here, a lead and rhythm with hopefully a guy who could sing some of the Rik stuff, while letting Gil do the rest. Unfortunately though even if they had stuck together it would have been a hard go with all the muddy two chord grunge that took over in the 90's, but they would still have always been a big touring band.
Sorry.... Even though Phil X is an excellent guitar player it’s not Triumph without Rik. I just wish they had done one more full tour before hanging it up instead of just playing Sweden Rock festival and Rocklahoma.
@@markmiller1212 How is he a hack? Cause he's not rik emmett? Grow up. Not saying Phil X is amazing or anything but he is a damn good guitarist and he can hold his own with whoever he plays.
