Hey @autocarindia1, what do you think of Speed 400 performance on wet roads? I have this fear of slipping on wet roads even though the bike is good. Can you tell at what speeds would the speed 400 be comfortable to bend and turn along the corners?
@@khattimitthilife What's wrong with colored hair. Just because me and you does not like colored hair, anyone living in this country has the right to style them the way they want. I've seen people on expensive Harley wearing sandals and riding careless. Though not very common as such expensive bikes are rare. We should be calling them Chapris as well.
The 390 is a living legend. The Speed 400 sure is an excellent product though. I really like it. No doubt. Overall, it just depends on what the rider wants. Gear up. Ride safe. Both the 390 and the Speed are great options. Poles apart though.
Indeed brother . 390 is always a bike which outshines even it's new contenders from last 8 years. How many bikes under 400cc are launched like the G310R , Apache 310RR , BMW 310RR , Dominar 400 and now this Baby Truimph Speed 400 . KTM still kills the competition with their 390 .
@@Ahmed-jv7oc That's your subjective matter of choice whether you like it or not but 390 is still the Single Cylinder madness on planet Earth right now
Triumph sure has a good brand image for refined bikes and , but don't forget that KTM outside india also have a very good brand image as they also participate in the GP races, but unfortunately chapris have killed KTM image here in india, and i'm afraid if this will happen to triumph also.
Based on your review on the way these motors react in terms of 0-100 times and in gear acceleration as well as mileage. It feels like Triumph is similar to KTM but with diesel like performance. Both are amazing imo.
Listen.. ktm 250s and 390s are not for everybody. It is very much for the polished riders and hard-core motorcyclists. It has more character, more connection with the rider, engages you fully..
@@spamansh1710 Had the same thought when I blindly followed it's bad brand image without ever riding one, but then I rode it and completely transformed how I feel about ktm. I suggest u to own one or atleast ride one to see how wonderful those machines are in what they been built for. It's always the squid riders, never the bike.
The idea (or maybe solely circumstances) of ride- testing under heavy rain is brillant; It doesn't comes out with beautiful pictures but you really understand how the bikes shall perform during the next monsoon.
Yep. I own the d390 and i know exactly what you are thinking and yes, it fits this description very well. But sadly, you have been exposed to the manic 373cc mill. You will find the speed 400 very inadequate for other stuff.
You are partially correct.. The straight line acceleration is similar.. But CB300R is no where near the Speed400 in terms of roll on/ in gear acceleration.. I'm talking after checking the Autocar test figures of both bikes.. Also performance is not the only factor to compare 2 bikes.. Speed400 will stand one step higher overall always..
I want to buy speed 400 or x440 or upcoming good bike under 500cc in couple of years.. but these bikes hardly give 25kmpl so i thought of buy another bike for mileage and long lasting. i will use this bike for daily needs and to and fro to the office. And it should give best mileage. I thought of having honda sp125 .can you give me good suggestion which second bike is best for me ..ots better if it have good looks
@@mukesh_gt650 you clearly dont know how the Power to weight ration works do you?? 😂 The Dodge challenger demon has 800+ Hp but the Porsche 911 turbo beats it every single time 1/4mile unless it is a proper prepped dragstrip. The power to weight and the way power is put onto the road matters a lot.
What about stability and refinement at high RPM , I see a lot of reviewers are complaining about a lot of buzziness even at 6500 RPM so how usable is the high power band ? Can you please compare that with duke ? I'm planning to choose one, any thoughts would be helpful.
Great review guys, thank you. The version I really hope they make is the XE version, say 220 to 250mm suspension travel and wire wheels. That would be a great mini Adventure and Trail bike, it would surpass the Enfield 400 Himalayan and be a better bike than the 650 Interceptor Scrambler that the whole world has been waiting for but Enfield has never offered.
Woah! I thought one sided reviews were restricted to RE bikes. When triumph Bajaj said they will compete with RE, I didn't think it also meant reviews. Overselling the speed 400 will backfire pretty bad. The speed 400 is an excellent bike in its own right. But People will buy it thinking it's a decent replacement for d390 only to be sorely disappointed. The d390 is worth the 60k or so extra for those who want a good street naked. And I never understood these in gear acceleration tests as testament of a vehicle being faster. Buddy, why would I not drop down a couple of gears on a d390, put the bike in its manic power band and then outpace the speed 400? In gear acceleration indicates it is a good bike for calm laidback riders who want to cruise and overtake 4 wheelers blocking their way without a fuss. Speed 400 looks like an excellent bike for people who want to have a good daily runner in the city and 110kph cruising on highways combination without really having the need for sportiness in spades when needed. It's the perfect second bike for 650cc+ owners. But trust me, if you plan to grow further, you will outgrow the speed 400 plenty fast, unlike the d390 which will keep you happy for a very long time.
Oh its bad. I hated the low end torque. A guy I know sold off this Duke 390 for a Bullet 350 as he lives in the hills and hated the lack of low end torque of his KTM 390.
@@pramitroy11 Yes very narrow power band. It's a frustrating bike to ride coming from a Z650 which has a wide power band. The Duke is fun to ride if you are ripping it but riding slowly in traffic it's a pain as if you forget to shift the engine starts knocking or it stalls completely.
Dear Triumph, Please launch Speed 200 as soon as possible with onroad price below Rs. 2 Lakhs and mileage upto 40KMPL . Remove Liquid Cooling, Remove USD forks and also Dual Channel ABS. Keep rest of the things unchanged. 🙏🙏🙏
I had the raw power ktm 390 of 2014 with no features of 2024 version that KTM can still beat the latest version. It was the experience of an RX 135 on it for me the latest version is like riding a pulsar 220 cc feel the original thrust is missing in the latest duke 390 but I felt the same old dude 390 power on triumph speed 400 so am getting a triumph speed 400 soon nice review bro
When I checked Autocar test figures.. I found that Triumph Speed 400 has better roll on/ in gear acceleration than Ninja 400 too!!.. So the Speed400 smokes Duke390, Ninja400 & Interceptor too in the mid range/ roll ons/ in gear acceleration..
As an Interceptor 650 owner that's one of the major things I really enjoy... The effortless in-gear acceleration and being able to be lazy with gearshifts.... These numbers from Triumph are really impressive.
Generally i don't comment on any video but your milage figure for 390 Duke is absolutely wrong, I've bs6 390 Duke and I've ridden almost 60k kms and the best mileage is 24kmpl. It never crossed 24.
Re: Tyres play a key role, as does lighting at night, when it comes to inspiring confidence on performance bikes. What's your take on these two components of both these bikes?
If speed 400 has almost similar performance to duke 390, I'm guessing duke 250 is jus no match to speed 400. And Now add the cost factor.. I guess I will have to cancel the duke 250 booking. 4k will be deducted from the refund😢
@@mjacobim i am a fan of Shumi and Sagar myself but i feel Shumi specially is too biased towards the duke's nd that has nthng to do with having good more or less knowledge i just feel as a journalist ua opinions shud be unbiased regardless of wat brand u support in personal life...but each to its own
if in gear acceleration is stronger and quicker in speed 400 than ktm, then ktm power surge makes how much difference? is it noticeable ? speed 400 should be better in that sense. Also add a race dynamics fuelx/ecu mod to speed 400 and ur in much better position at a much lower price ...u get best of both worlds...what do u think
If you really wanna enjoy twisties, get a faired bike. I went from a 250 duke to a RC 390 and I cant express how much I love to lean over on this bike in hilly areas, knee scraping has become quite common for me and with the mods I have done to my RC, it pulls quite well down low, to the point even guys with bigger capacity naked bikes cant keep up. Sure you can do stunts and all with a duke which you cant on the speed 400, if you really want to ride fast on twisties, get a faired bike dude
When comparing the old bike with the new one, keep in mind that the Triumph might not have undergone any servicing yet, while the KTM may have received several services. Therefore, it's not fair to directly pit them against each other. You mentioned that the acceleration from 0 to 60 km/h difference is 0.65 seconds. Again, it's worth noting that this performance may evolve after the first or second service, as certain adjustments and improvements might take place. By the way, not everyone is interested in engaging in a race. For many people, the sheer enjoyment and indulgence in riding are just as important as the bike's performance(Count me in). Although, your review is quite thorough and informative, but in the future, it would be beneficial to include a focus on city road acceleration as well. This additional information would provide a more comprehensive understanding of the bike's performance in various settings. Good luck!
@@pravinmurthy My point is completely different and it is not about "In gear acceleration" which is the rate at which a vehicle's speed increases while a specific gear is engaged. My point pertains to the impact of varying service histories between a used bike and a new one on their respective acceleration capabilities.
"In gear acceleration" itself doesn't mimic city road conditions. Instead, it is a characteristic of how a vehicle's speed increases while a specific gear is engaged. In gear acceleration varies based on factors such as the gear ratio, engine power, and other mechanical aspects of the vehicle.
thank you for comparing speed 400 with KTM...you have rightly placed it at the right type it belongs to.... speed 400 though projected as roadstar by the company doesn't belong to that type/ category.....it falls in ktm category
What makes the 390 Duke's case even worse is that the 390 Adventure X is more affordable, is just as good at handling, has better ride quality and has lesser gimmicks to go wrong long term, making it the better KTM to buy as long as you can handle the 855 mm seat height.
@@premprabhakar805 Nakeds can be comfortable too, it's too broad to say every naked is uncomfortable and every adv is comfortable. From the city stand point a naked can be more comfortable due to its flickability whereas on highway an adv shall make more sense.
Damn...but everything aside what about the showroom and service center network of triumph? Nearest triumph showroom is 25 kms away from my home ...But so was the case with Honda Bigwing but now after 2 years there are 2 bigwings within 8 to 10kms radius from my house...will it be the same with triumph?
