A new Speed Triple has emerged! replacing the R and adding an S... no wait.. we are keeping the R... but adding the S.. so that makes it an RS!? is that it? that's all there is to it?...
Oh but there's much, much more to it than just a fancy badge stuck to its name!
Yes this time triumph has finally stepped their game up, bringing back the hooligan that’s been a part of the motorcycling spectrum for nearly a quarter-century.

I love my 2020. I don’t find its power to be stupendous like the reviewer seems to think but it’s got enough to handle any need I’d even encounter on the street. Online you can find owners having issues with their gearbox but mine has never missed a shift. It’s a pleasure to ride, the weight is fine, power is sufficient. It’s a perfect bike for me, planning to own it for years.

Nice review on a fantastic street motorcycle. I have a 2010 675 STR with Arrow 3-1 and Supersprox 520 conversion with 2T larger rear sprocket, KyleUsa linear linkage with Ohlins TR805 shock, and this bike pulls so hard in top gear on the backroads that I rarely need to downshift although I have the Triumph QuickShifter if I feel the need. So I can imagine how the Speed Triple rarely needs downshifting for fast riding in most situations. The biggest problem these motorcycles have is keeping your driver's license!

Hey guys, a great review of a great bike. I have the previous 2016 Speed R and love it. It was a close choice between this and the S1000R but the Speed in the UK is a bit cheaper and mine came loaded with heated grips, quick shifter and the US Arrows, which means the baffles were easily removed. It pops and burbles lovely. I'm sure the new RS is even better. I've never heard anyone say they were disappointed in owning this bike. I have got my eye on the Tuono Factory for my next bike however, maybe.
@DeanosMallonski
@DeanosMallonski 5 лет назад
Dougie is there a way to remove the baffles of the 3-1 lowboy? My 2016 R sounds nothing like all the UK bikes
@dougie1325
@dougie1325 5 лет назад
@@DeanosMallonski my Arrows are the double high mounts but the lowboy looks like the same can to me, so I see no reason why not. The US version allows you to remove the baffles but the UK/Euro version don't as they are riveted in. I've heard some people had ground the rivets out and removed them.

Awesome work fellas, really great to see some local boys putting out some high quality reviews. You seem like pretty interesting fellas, why not take it a step further and do some different types of content like the 44 Teeth boys?

Lachlan Crutchfield cheers for your message mate, greatly appreciated. we are currently expanding our ideas on what we will be adding to our content. 44 teeth is a great channel but we don’t want to come across as trying to replicate anything they do or any other channel, our aim is to be different from others 👍 if anything better 😉

Great review mate, but a quickshifter is a must! I had a go on a BMW S1000RR track bike at Phillip Island with an up and down quickshifter and they are a must for a sport bike as far as I’m concerned! The Triumph is a lovely looking bike. Sounds great as well. I’d love to try it around Phillip Island without having to worry about the pesky HWP.

I have the 2016 speed triple S and it is amazing so I have no doubt the RS would just further add to perfect. I do have a low exit SC Project exhaust that really does the triple sound justice (not like the arrows). It screams and pops and crackles. Any speed triple purchase MUST get the quick shifter. I got the factory one when I bought the bike and it’s amazing. The sound of smashing through gears is intoxicating. Don’t get an after market quick shifter, I have been there previously and they are never as good.

I just came off 13 mos. & 12k miles on an MT09 (a '19 with adjustable suspension) that was quite enjoyable. I walked into my Yam/Kaw/Triumph/Indian dealer last month to see his last '19 Speed Triple S marked too far down to resist. I had almost bought a Speed3 back in '03 but instead bought an Suzi SV1000. Now I was confronting a deal too good to refuse. Though having excellent Showa suspension rather than the Ohlins and no IMU, otherwise this is the same bike as the RS. I love it so far! If my playful MT09 was the 2 month old beagle, this is his bigger, somewhat more muscular late adolescent brother with much more controlled "legs" under him! A more refined and better finished bike than the Yamaha it is also more comfortable while having that "plush controlled" nature of a superior suspension. The broad and flat midrange torque does make shifting optional. You could ride all day with just 1st and 4th gear. I owned an "05 ZX10 for 10 years so I am no novice to high performance. The Kawi was far and away the finest bike I had ever owned until this S3. The new MT09 with the SP suspension will no doubt address the shortcomings of my '19 model but the 150+ cc advantage will still have the Triumph as the better all-rounder for me. Want more insanty? Get the new T 1200 RS!

I had a 2018 Speed Triple RS and the average consumption was around 4,8 litres per 100 km (even with riding aggressively on the twisties) so theoretically you could do 300 km without refueling. Regarding optional extras, I think it's BS that pretty much all the manufacturers do that. They charge top dollars for their flagship bikes and you still have to put hundreds if not thousand of dollars to get the extras. I understand the lack of heated grips but if these bikes are meant to be beasts and super performers, how can they justify not including a quickshifter...

I would LOVE to own a triumph. To bad that where I live they have royally screwed up the insurance for them. I can get halv coverage on a Ducati Monster 1200 with 160hp for $700/year but the street triple and speed triple can only be insured for $1100/year. The only reason I can think of is it might have something to do with Ducati owners not actually riding their bikes and thus landing in a lower bracket
