Ben, I'm so surprised that you don't have so many more subscribers. Your videos are so much more entertaining and informative than some others on RU-vid. It's all very well buying damaged high value vehicles to repair and upgrade and then, hare off down the road at a million miles per hour. You, at least do the cars we can all afford to repair.

12:15 this is quite literally exactly what happened to me over the winter. Started off as a quick engine swap which you could do in a weekend, cue 4 months later. Engine repainted and smoothed out, wire tuck etc etc. Wise words that.

I swear that green is the same green I painted a Tamiya polycarbonate RC body shell almost three decades ago! I reckon Peugeot nicked it from Tamiya as it's so nice! 🤪 I always think any old British sports car should be British Racing Green by default, I really didn't care for the blue, personally, so I think this Tamiya Green (tm) is definitely the way to go. I look forward to seeing the whole car done over the weekend!

The 'just start it' advice has made me want to get going on mine again. I've had a reasonable excuse though as I broke my hip 5 weeks ago so although back on my feet (full hip replacement at 51yo who'd have thunk it), I'm still a bit unsteady (mentally 🙃). Keep up the content. 👍

No, Ben, watching you doing prep is not at all boring, especially when you do it in time-lapse. I wish there was a way to have it in time-lapse when I’m doing it! OMG, now THATs what I call boring. Also, it’s never right. I do all the big stuff, then clean it off to prime it, only to find smaller stuff I couldn’t see, before. That’s going to look terrible, now the rest of it is nice, so I’d better do that as well. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseum. When I finally decide I can’t keep doing this, because I need to get some paint on it, I’m already aware of the things I’m going to keep seeing and hating, when it’s all finished. It’s one of the reasons I no longer do paint. The other, bigger reason is, thanks to Big Brother, I can’t buy proper paint, thinners, gun cleaners and so on, without a solvents license. Of course there are ways around it, but it’s always a risk and whether it’s worth it brings me back to the first thing again. If I’m being naughty, I want to spend as little time as possible doing it and weeks and weeks of interesting smells coming from behind my door is asking for trouble. Even the water based paints are considered hazardous waste, so investing in panel heaters and a proper booth still doesn’t get me out of the woods. It’s just too much bureaucracy, for the value I’m ever going to get out of it. If I ever get an irrepressible urge to do another one, my best option would be to rent a shed 50 miles down the road, in what is still technically part of the UK, buy my cellulose products in the motor factors there, do the job over the course of a month, then bring it home as a fait-accompli. Far cheaper than trying to do it legit, here. But, here’s a funny thing. If I pay someone to do a cheap spray job, after I do half the prep, I’m much less likely to notice, or care about, the little imperfections that inevitably get left, than if I try to save a few bob by doing it all myself! I can accept a Princess/Rover P4 job from someone I’m paying, but I need, at the very least, a Mini job if I do it myself. Even then I won’t be completely satisfied.

Great video, love watching paint n panel work, also love that green . Carry on Ben.😁👍 The only issue with solvent based paints is you have to be very careful of the overspray, if it lands on another vehicle it will etch its way into the paint surface and you will have to cut and polish that car as well . Ask me how I know

Some of the paint jobs on Pole Barn Garage are exceptional with cheap tractor paint and thinners, some are for comedy effect too, but he has done a Ford Truck in black tractor paint and it's a really good job considering. That green reminds me of the Green Goblin from the Spiderman films :), great job!
