I remember being overtaken by a brand new Stag on a long gravel road in the late 70s. The road was a bit corrugated. We were going about 60kmh in our '72 Landcruiser. Alan drove past at about 100 in his Stag. About 10km later we had to stop, in order to pick up the rear bumper, which had fallen off the Stag. Dad laughed like hell handing it back later in the morning. The car was less than a month old. And people sometimes wonder why the British car industry failed! Hilarious.
Engine was the biggest unreliability. Luckily all these years later everything rectified. Wouldn't buy a new car these days (all look the same) and certainly won't be buying the silent killer (electric)
