Thank you and thanks for commenting. I was gutted the Audi had come to the natural end of its life, had it a long time. Jag runs well - prices have really fallen recently, hoping a few videos on it may be of interest and use!!!
Good to see you back nothing to apologise for you and your family come first gutted the p6 has gone but looking forward to seeing new content all the best Kev
Thanks for commenting, really appreciated. Completely agree, Gutted the Rover has gone, Not unfortunately practical for him in Rural Scotland (very pretty though!) Hoping the Stag will come back around without too much trouble. Hoping for a good takeout and shake down video shortly.
Nice old Rover P6 2200 SC. It is always the same, the moment you want to take out a classic car for a drive down comes the rain! Hope you still have the car & it is still going strong.
Sorry to admit the P6 has had to be sold as Dad is now in Scotland and needed a daily driver. The Stag is still going strong, have been unwell unfortunately and hoping for more videos coming soon. Will be a Jag a Stag and a Saab 93!!!!!!
Hiya, We had the box reconditioned a few years ago and looked into the ZF conversion bit wasn't willing to pay it!!!!!! Most of the time the 3 speed is adequate however on the motorway another gear would be nice!!!!!!!
When you use LED bulbs in the indicators, the bulbs need to be a ballast type or they won't flash. Older tungsten filament bulbs have a higher current draw, which makes the flasher unit resistance work, the familiar click, clunk, click as the contacts open and close. LED bulbs don't use as much current, so need an electrical load to work.
All the lamp lenses on the front, and rear lights on a P6 should have silver foil separation from new. It's a D shape, glued on the flat edge where they slide together. They often come loose and go missing. Without it, you get excess light bleed into the adjoining coloured lamp lenses, especially on the clear front side, and reverse ones.
@jagandthestag Hi there. I've had dozens of P6's since the late 70's, know them inside out, and worked on many Stag's too. Yes, I've seen some P6's with a foil like reflector behind the bulb, an effort to improve the output from old tungsten filament bulbs. The backlng reflectors respond well to a coat of chrome effect aerosol paint. No, what I mean is stuck on to the actual plastic lense from new. It is a thick aluminium foil, similar guage to what you get on bakery pie cases etc. Any aluminium foil would be an ideal replacement if missing. It's usually glued on the top or bottom of each segment of lense, it should be stuck on the flat D shaped bit so the light from each bulb doesn't affect the adjoining lamp. It will probably affect yours even more with bright LED bulbs. I know it'll be exempt now, but a really keen MOT tester would pick up on it as " one light affecting the operation of another". You'll probably notice it much more at night with the brighter bulbs. The Stag sounds like a wrong bulbholder. The reverse and indivators lamps should each have a single contact 12volt 21W bulb and matching bulbholder, and should earth through the lamp body. Only the Stop/tail bulbholder should have two contacts, and a 12volt 21/5W bulb with the two locating pins at different heights on the bulb base.
Do you have any tips on tuning the carb to idle better. I've just done leads and plugs but it seems to hunt at idle when in drive or reverse. Seems ok in neutral.
Hi. We have set up the idle on the Stag but not had to touch the carb on the Rover. Stag was a constant adjustment to find the best level but in honesty I think the car for whatever reason prefers running very slightly lean and with a slightly faster idle and runs lovely.
Good vlog as always guys nice part of the northwest mellor and marple the stag sounds superb delivered beer years ago around there oddfellows pub was one I remember keep the updates coming all the best…
Hiya. Think the sound is heading in the right direction, going to move location of microphone but giving up on the true cinema app as even with a filter brightness is washing it out and going back to the old camera. Definitely still a work in progress!!!!!!!!!! Would say we are pretty lucky where we live however being quite high up and just the other side of the Pennines that has been the one sunny day in the last two weeks, every other day it's rained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still struggling at the minute. Trying to get a balance where you can hear conversations, Engine but no wind noise. Picture is true cinema with added filter but still too much brightness. This file was over 9gb. Video's are still a work in progress and doing just for fun
Hiya. Really don't understand why I can't just get sound of talking and engine and NO WIND!!!!!!!!!! Think this is definitely a step in the right direction and good scenery today, had a good time!!!! Hope you are well, thanks for bearing with me, will keep trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy that time as had Grumpy the cameraman!!!!!!! Bought a new mic (no 5) and a filter thing so will do a solo drive in a couple of days and see if can get the same result!!!!!!
Hiya!!!!! Hoping you are well. Nice to get us both out together. Have come back to microphone no 5 and a filter thing!!! Not back in work til Wednesday so hoping for more videos!!!!!!!!!!
I remember being overtaken by a brand new Stag on a long gravel road in the late 70s. The road was a bit corrugated. We were going about 60kmh in our '72 Landcruiser. Alan drove past at about 100 in his Stag. About 10km later we had to stop, in order to pick up the rear bumper, which had fallen off the Stag. Dad laughed like hell handing it back later in the morning. The car was less than a month old. And people sometimes wonder why the British car industry failed! Hilarious.
Engine was the biggest unreliability. Luckily all these years later everything rectified. Wouldn't buy a new car these days (all look the same) and certainly won't be buying the silent killer (electric)
It's all getting very complicated!! Over exposure so just bought a filter and just bought an Omni microphone rather than condenser. Will get a decent picture with decent sound if it's the last thing I do!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky you, another beautiful day in store tomorrow, rain all next week at my location. The Stag's manual has the four speed with electric overdrive, so I believe many Stag owners prefer that. I like an automatic; you can leave it in drive, or shift manually. Today's driver does not know that. I will also say your countryside is absolutely stunning; I live rurally as well, and the countryside is nice, it doesn't compare to where you are in England. The rolling hills, the lush green, villages plopped right in the middle, it's gorgeous! Thank you for taking us into Manchester, enjoy your day heading to Haworth.
Completely agree!!! Video is better today but has got to be a happy medium between less wind, hearing me and most importantly hearing the V8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol mic was clipped to the seat belt so I think far too close, going to try near the dash to hopefully pickup me, car but NO WIND!!!!!!!!!! Getting there, Slowly, Very Slowly!!!!!!!!
Motorway could only hear wind noise but driving around town could hear you two nattering away fine. Thanks for the update, regards from Scarborough North Yorks.
Think I might have finally sorted it!!!!!!!! Sony Cinema Pro (built into phone) allows you to use an external Microphone!!!!!!!! Will be doing another video day after tomorrow, roof down and some motorway and hopefully/finally might be sorted!!!!!!!
Looking forward to your upgrades! Hope you are taking your Stag to work, with the hood down of course, as it has been warm. And I hope both you and Sir Grumpy are keeping cool at home!
i watch another stag channel and he bought his Stag from an auction, for a really over the top price in my opinion. They have had loads on trouble with it, having it painted, rotted petrol tank, car is full of bodge and filler and they have nearly spent the same as what they payed for it. I would never buy a Stag from an auction unseen. You use yours, all year round and your problems are only niggles that you would have with any car, amazing how reliable and solid your Stag is. I adore this channel and you always read the comments and react with your viewers. I wish i could afford another, owned 4 Stags in the past. Microphone sounds great by the way.
We dropped really lucky with the Stag. Bought from a dealer who was really a collector! Engine had been rebuilt some 5yrs previous but the car had only done 26 miles in the 5yrs (guy kept it in a shipping container) Think it really helps that the are never stood for long. Need to sort the gear wheel at the end of the Speedo cable (gearbox end) and a slightly sticking rear brake drum but apart from that touch wood it's running well. My Dad has been away for 6wks thus lack of videos!! He is staying with us at the moment so hopefully lots more videos this week. His car (Rover) is unfortunately still on bonny Scotland!!!!!!! Thanks again for commenting, really appreciated.
Glad to see your video, missed a road trip in your Triumph Stag! I bet you and Sir Grumpy, after to tinkering about, go to the pub, which is well deserved! You have been warmer than where I am in upstate New York, having English weather lately! It is always wonderful to drop the hood on the Stag, drive to work or wherever, such a great start to the day!
Morning Thanks for commenting, really appreciated, been an unbelievable week of weather, off to work in 30mins, storms expected today so we will leave the stag at home!!!!!!! Grumpys back bit the rover's still in Scotland. He's been up there about 6 weeks so will be nice to have a good laugh and get some videos done. Thanks again for commenting - will sort the title out now, have up last night, it was 0030 and was stuck downloading and was really shattered and ready for bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My all systems go quadrant was the same… There is a supplier that does an LED conversion kit. It is well worth pulling apart the Quadrant and cleaning the inevitable heat damage of the old original bulbs which can be consigned to history… I now have nice bright lumination. The rheostat is just now a curiosity
Absolutely love Scarborough and Whitby. Haven't been for a long time, funnily enough we were planning a weekend two weeks ago but lost one of the dogs unfortunately (she had been poorly for a long time) but hoping we will get there soon
@@jagandthestag So sorry to hear about your dog, I'm a dog lover and it's very difficult to cope when they are gone. Yes some great roads for your car here.
