When I was a dumb kid I bought one of these Famicom edition GameBoy micros used at GameStop for $35. I ended up trading it away for a first gen unbacklit Gameboy Advance because I wanted a bigger screen. 😞

hi so i just dug out my old micro gameboy, looks just like yours just pink. Ive put it on to charge and the two blue lights were struggling at first but after a bit of adjusting the lead, it is now charging fine, but I have left charging it for a while now and it wont turn on. Do you know what could be wrong with it?
My biggest take away from this is I'm impressed your ez works with the blue shell. Mine has a hard time in some SPs my ds lite and the occasional GBA, but with the blue shell it doesn't make proper contact in anything. Was very disappointed since i had to order 2 after the first was lost in the mail.
@@makho I think I just got one of the bum boards that aren't quite up to spec. They've acknowledged them but just said jam a piece of paper as a shim behind it
@@makho if you poke around gba temp you'll see other people complaining about it and the makers responding with suggestions that boil down to layering copy paper behind the pcb. I think it's rare but sucks when you have the unlucky draw gbatemp.net/threads/ez-omega-not-booting.503979/
Kinda weird but I took one off my macro because it doesnt need it but I took off a pad on the broken one. I thought I messed up but it fixed itself by just taking off the corroded one.
my gameboy micro does the same thing where when i plug it in, it turns on for a second. I charged it before this occurred so it might just be at 100%? for now, it’s still working perfectly fine. should i be worried?
@@makho One more thing that I forgot to mention was that the light doesn’t turn off once it’s fully charged, is that something I should be worried about too?
u said that gameboy micro has water damage sticker. if my gameboy micro has drowned, what happen to the sticker? are the water affecting battery, pcb, and other stuff? because mine just like blinking when it plugged to the charger. thanks
This Micro in particular appeared to just have some liquid behind the faceplate. There was no evidence of submersion or any other water damage on the PCB. The water indication sticker is normally white with red/pink dots and will turn solid red if exposed to water. Liquids will typically cause corrosion on PCBs and this corrosion can both short voltage or data lines together or, if it gets bad enough, completely erode away lines altogether. If you want to try and repair something that has water damage, you FIRST NEED TO DOCUMENT ALL THE AREAS WITH VISIBLE CORROSION. Taking high res pictures is very helpful. Then, you can try just cleaning up the corrosion. Isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush is usually the best method. From there, let it dry and test again. If it still has issues, you'll need to reference those pictures to check the areas that had corrosion for further damage. From there, the fixes may vary wildly and with something as intricate as a Micro, it will be extraordinarily difficult. Let me know what happens.
I don't recommend that battery, it is much lower capacity than the newer one I found: retrogamerepairshop.com/collections/game-boy-micro/products/game-boy-micro-750mah-high-capacity-replacement-battery-by-makho (there's a video linked on the page with more info)
Personally, I'd rather have $230 than a single Micro. That's more than I've spent on a single Game Boy (not counting mods -- that cerakoted GBC was expensive as fuck). That being said, I don't think it's a bad price but it's not a great price either so "worth it" is something only you can decide. Also, FWIW, sold loose FF Micros on ebay seem to go for about $170-200. In fact, it looks like there are a few listed in the $170-180 range right now. I can't speak for the condition relative to the one you are looking at though.
