This is our second LG in 16 months. Loved the first one but the fridge froze solid after 16 months, and thank goodness for extended warranties. That one also had an icemaker in the freezer but made regular sized cubes. Lots of them. Nobody told me this unit was only going to make three ice cubes per day, would never have bought it. Since we're starting in July, maybe by New Year's I'll have enough for a small cocktail party.

Absolutely amazing that LG could sell a nearly $5K fridge and have a simple function like this go out completely untested. I've had this fridge for a few weeks and after taking 3 days to make any ice, it worked for about a week and then jammed, spilling water into the tray and creating sheets of ice. Does LG test anything they sell? Do they hate their customers? Why do you hate your customers?
@Rcaceres

Hey so I figured this out on my own it’s a simple fix maybe you have the same issue. I was getting water in my craft ice tray. Lmk I’ll help you out.
@DavidMcMahon

@@Rcaceres Thanks. LG finally got back to me. They can't find anyone to service the unit but are sending me a replacement ice maker to swap out myself. Apparently the surface coating of these ice makers is a known problem causing the ice to stick (and then leak). One might think a company would try to get in front of this known issue by recalling stock or reaching out to new customers but I suppose that's too much trouble and too much expense.

I've had the craft ice maker replaced once under warranty. It just stopped making the craft ice again. Doing the typical dripping water into the ice tray, but not dropping the balls. After reading through the comments this guy Jeff recommends using a hairdryer to loosen the frozen balls and then using the test/reset button. Genius. It worked like a champ! Remove the top slider drawer from the freezer. It makes getting to the ice maker with the hairdryer WAY easier. Take the ice ball tray out of its normal place and place it in the bottom of the freezer under the craft ice maker to catch any water(mine did not drip for what it's worth) Use the hairdryer on high heat for about 5 minutes. Move it back and forth to ensure all 3 balls are melting. Then push and hold the test button for 3 seconds. It will beep and then begin running the cycle. At that point I was able to gently grab the ice ball which had frozen into one giant piece and pull it out of the ice molds. Put the top sliding drawer back in place with the ice ball tray and you're done.

@alaskapanic I am able to do the test/reset on my own craft ice maker but was trying to help a neighbor with theirs. When I go to do the test mode and push the button in, it beeps once, maybe twice on some occasions and then doesn't do anything else. I also tried the hair dryer but don't see any or feel any stuck ice. When you tried your test mode, did it immediately make noises? I'm wondering if I needed to hold the hair dryer on it longer in case there's ice I can't see that's stuck. I may suggest they unplug and plug back in but would hate for that to cause any further harm to the rest of the refrigerator. Thanks in advance if you see this and have suggestions.

Ours "stopped working" after about 3 months. This video gave me some things to try, and also just helped me understand the mechanism better. In our case, the sensor arm that detects whether the area under the dispenser is clear had somehow become jammed up above the ice tray, maybe from trying to dispense an irregular piece of ice, and freeing it re-enabled the ice maker. Just one more thing to look at that isn't mentioned in the video.

Hey there! Quick fix for your ice maker: Remove the ice bucket, find and gently push down the sensor arm above the ice tray, then pop the bucket back in and check if it's working. We hope this helps, and let us know if you have any more questions! ^ Diego

Ice balls had become stuck in our craft ice maker. It didn't realize the ice balls didn't fall out so water would leak into the tray when it tried to refill the cavity. This was clear to see by pressing the "reset" button which cycled the tray open and closed twice (be sure to leave the tray in to catch the water that spills out. I used a hair dryer to soften the ice and after a few cycles the popped out. I tried to wipe the inside of the cavity to make sure it was nice and clean so the new batch doesn't stick (fingers crossed). This craft ice maker worked perfectly for us for 21 months. This has been the only issue.

Thanks for the tip, hairdryer for 5 minutes did the trick in loosening the 3 balls that were stuck... wasn't making ice and just knocking "tap tap tap tap tap tap", felt the stuck ice balls. Get a towel, remove the ice bin, and aim a hairdryer on heat at the balls for about 3-5 minutes, doesn't have to melt everything, just enough to drop out of the mold. Restart the ice maker by powering off and on. Saved a service.

You cannot use a bowl. Use the ice tray. Pull the top drawer out just enough to get your hand in and push reset button located on the underside of the ice maker. As the unit cycles you can adjust drawer so tray catches water. The reset button is very small. You have to use the tip of your finger. You will hear a "beep" when you successfully reset. You can watch as unit cycles. Mine took four resets to get water flowing.

I've had my refrigerator 2 years, purchased this model solely for the craft ice maker. It's been repaired 3 times, repair comes to see yes it's not working, orders a new unit, it eventually arrives from LG, service comes back and replaces it. So much time consumed and time without craft ice. It broke a 4th time and requested replacement of refrigerator with retailer. LG said no as it is repairable. Just repairable at my time and expense. So now reading how I can fix it myself. I may just give up and buy another refrigerator from another brand based on the questions others have here. I'll look to see if LG posted updated instructions as I'm almost ready to accept it's time to move on so that life can be good again. .

We have an LG LRMDC2306S. During first month we’ve had 4 service visits for craft ice maker not working. Each service call reveals the water feed line to the ice maker is frozen solid although the freezer temp is set at +4F. We added two thermometers into the freezer that log temp and they both show 4F so temp sensor is good. Does the craft ice maker line have a heater/defrost? Latest tech wants to switch out water feed line but by this point we have zero confidence LG know how to build a fridge.

It was a bit tricky finding the reset button, but once I did, 3 Craft Ice balls fell out and I heard the water refill the cube tray. I took the advice of Lisa Hunter's post and used my wife's small mirror to locate the rest switch. I can only conclude that the 3 craft ice balls were stuck.

Hope this helps…I had balls stuck. They were frozen in the holders so when it was filling up water it just went into the container and froze. What I ended up doing is doing the reset function about 5-6 times to help melt the balls. Eventually after it melted I poked the balls with a stick 🥴. They fell out and it was able to retract and fill with water again

Before you do anything, sit on the left side of the freezer and slide out the drawer where you can see clearly. I had one ball of craft ice jammed between the wire and plastic. Freed it by slightly pulling the wire up and ice ball out. Careful because some pressure will close it and give you a little pinch.

No power switch on my model (LSXS26326S). Ice is forming in the tray, but freezing-up and not getting removed. It works only when I push the test button, but that only completes one rotation & then stops. From what I've been reading & watching, it has something to do with the sensor. Still unsure whether that's true and how to replace it. Side note, the water works fine (and of course the ice tray fills up properly), so there isn't a problem with the water line itself.

I did this and figured out that I had all 3 ice cub slots full of ice cubes which were stuck and fused together into one super ice cube. If you press the reset button and it doesn't fully cycle, and can't hear the water go into the tray. It means you have some ice stuck and is preventing it from fully cycling. It has a a safety feature that it will stop the cycle to prevent from breaking any of the components. You can either try melting whatever is stuck with hair dryer. Or try aiding it by hand look for the metal wire and help it cycle. In my case a craft ice ball was stuck and wouldn't let it cycle to be able to hear the water pouring in to tray. Once the stuck iceball dropped i heard the water pour in and do the full cycle. Haven't had any problems since.

The craft ice maker was not making ice and it was clanging 2 times a day for 60 seconds. During the clanging the instaview door would blink. I believe the line was frozen/clogged because it turns out we had the freezer set a -7. I opened the freezer up, moved the food for a bit and ran the test button 3 times while I took out the trays and wiped them down, found 2 ice packs ; ) and a mayfly : ( This must have allowed something to defrost because by the third time I hit the test button it whirred, clanged a few times and then 3 ice balls dropped out. Yes, it's to detect when the tray is full of cubes. If it is flipped "up" (horizontal) it will prevent the maker from making more ice. "Down" (towards the floor, about 7:00) will allow more ice to be made.

I didn't realize that I didn't shut our freezer all the way. My husband found that while it looked completely sealed closed on the right, there was a small area on the upper left where it wasn't completely sealed. After a few days, it stopped making ice balls! 😪which I LOVED! He emptied everything & put fans on it for a couple of hours, put everything back in. Two days later, still no ice balls! We started looking up RU-vid videos & he learned that you can reset it. He took out the drawers, took out the part & saw that there were iceballs stuck inside, with a kind of nipple on them. He followed all the steps above, got them out & put it back & reset it. Two days later, still no iceballs. Can you tell me what the part number is that we need to replace the bottom ice maker that makes ice balls, please? I will add that we bought this for our retirement home & it was put in in October or November of 2019, and we LOVED this appliance and have had zero problems!!! Please help us get the fixed right now? I will add that my husband is an exceptionally handy man. We've been together since we were young (me 14, him 13) & he can do everything except paint a car. He's worked on cars & every electronic appliance there is, built furniture & was superb for troubleshooting for his company--one of the big parent gas transmission & storeage companies. Thank you so much! P.S. It would be wonderful if this appliance had an alarm to let you know there's a problem & the freezer wasn't closed completely.

Of course the warranty didn't cover either... but I did complain very loudly over the craft ice maker since it was only 14 months old and LG paid for that. But the compressor was almost $800. This is the worst fridge I've ever owned. And I see I'm not the only one. What a joke LG--you should do better for the $$$$ we've all paid.
