TRRS 540: Homemade Railroad Snow Plow | Mineral Range RR

The railroads of Michigan's Upper Peninsula have to put up with some of the nastiest winter weather in the country, with season snowfall totals over 200" commonplace.
For the locally owned Mineral Range, their solution has been to fashion this homemade plow from an old Plymouth switch engine, by stripping it down to the frame and adding on a front plow with adjustable wing extensions.
New for winter 2019-2020, here we see it in one of its first trips to the end of the Blueberry Sub at Humbdolt, site of the Eagle Mine's ore processing facility.
Operating ahead of the train is another one of the railroad's own in their old Case front-end loader, clearing the crossing approaches. This helps keep snow from piling up in the road and causing problems for motorists. They also get the machine stuck at the mill, but manage to get it free, further demonstrating just how tough the railroads up here have to be to make it through each winter.
