I wanted something other than the traditional suction cup or vent mounted cell phone holders. At first I couldn't find anything I liked, but eventually I saw an advertisement from a company called Pro Clip. The mount has the look that I was going for so I decided to give it a shot. Check out this video and hear my thoughts on the Pro Clip mounting solution for your car or truck!

I've owned 6 different varieties of this proclipusa mount(different vehicles plus one on my drum hi-hat stand). They're not cheap, but worth every penny. I always wait for them to offer 20% off specials before purchasing.

I put 2 in each of my vehicles: a Honda CRV & a Toyota Sienna and I love them. I've had one set 2 years and not one problem. Ive spent a small fortune on other types and these are the best in my opinion.

I have two ProClip mounts in my 2013 F150 and used them for years. They hold the cell phone great and even on the trails the phone doesn't move. I have changed phones and just bought the phone holder for the new phone. Through the years I have spent way more than the cost of a ProClip mount.

I believe it’s a great design and for the screws I would recommend using medium strength thread lock so that the screws don’t get stripped and are only finger tightened

I was about to order this for my Ram, when I found your review. You are correct, for the price, those screws should not be so difficult to install. I suppose you could drill out the holes and use a screw and nut, but for 70+ dollars, it should go together more easily. I will stick with my goose neck suction cup holder, which has a piece that rests on the dash to support the weight. The goose neck holder is HEAVY, but I did not want something flimsy. Plus I put a clip on it to hold my glasses (very convenient).

I ordered one earlier this week. Leaving from northern Arizona for a month on the road. Cottonwood Arizona to Huntsville Alabama to Charlotte NC to Morgantown WV. Back to Arizona. I swore I would never buy another phone car mount. BUT. It could be so helpful to have your information right in front of you with out grappling in the dark for the phone. I will write a short account of my experience.

I use that same ProClip adjustable cradle paired with a Ram Aviation Glare Shield Clamp Mount as my hybrid solution. No holes drilled and entire setup can be transferred easily.

I just made my own with some 1/8 sheet metal. Its adjustable and works great

Hell yeah DIY! How did you mount it to your dash? I looked at removing the speaker grill and using the 7mm bolts that hold the dash speaker in.

Is it rattling when you drive through bad roads, like concrete or aged tarmac?

I wish you would’ve shown how the two pieces mount together. Because I have a phone mounting clip, but I do not know if it will mount to the bracket.

Have the Pro Clip company done anything with the quality of the hardware since your install? I have a 09 F250 Harley Davidson editon and can't find a mount that works good. Seriously looking to purchase this one.

I had issues during the install, but it never gave my problems after that. I think I was just frustrated how fiddly the screws felt. I actually bought another one when I got my Raptor.

Does it go big enough to fit a Note 20 ultra?

What is your long term thoughts about this clip? Does it rattle alot driving?

I’ve had no major issues so far, doesn’t make any noise and still holds my phone well. They have another version with a bar that runs across the dash and clips in by the window I believe, so sometimes I wonder if that would’ve been a better option, but for right now this one still works

Do you have an update for this? I would love to see how it's going after 3+ years.

I don't have that one anymore, ended up trading trucks. The only issue I had with it was the adhesive that helped the mount stick to the dash started coming loose, but it didn't really affect the functionality at all. I got a different holder for my new truck from the same company. This one uses a metal band that goes across the dash and clamps down that way, but I'm still liking it so far.

I'm looking for one too. But they are so expensive for some plastic
@freakfiveoh

I agree, I don’t know how they justify the higher cost. I can only assume it’s all the different mounting options for different vehicles, so they probably have much smaller production numbers of each item.

My Car Life honestly, they are worth it. I’ve been using them for over well over 4 years now in multiple different vehicles and have never had an issue installing or during the life of the vehicles. The issues he had with his were user error. I personally like the magnetic mounts (iOmounts) that they sell.

I prefer Bracketron. All three of my vehicles utilize a Bracketron phone mount, and they aren't as expensive as that, plus I have cushioned adjustments for my devices.

Yeah, it would rotate 360 degrees if I remember correctly.

My Car Life i watched your below 500 modifications, and i was confused. So I am about to buy a F150 2005-2010 something. I want to have a higher drive and thats the reason why I am buying a truck kind of. Could you let me know what would be the best modification to get to make height increase and not damage the car. I am trying to stay cheap as well. Rims? Wheels? Leveling kits? Thanks
@freakfiveoh
@freakfiveoh 4 года назад
A leveling kit will always be the cheapest option, and it’ll just raise the front. If I was to buy a spacer leveling kit, I still wouldn’t go for the cheapest option I could find, get something that’s still a quality piece. I also wouldn’t recommend anything over a 2” spacer, as that seems to be the limit for the stock upper control arms to not have any issues. If you’re wanting to go a lot higher, you can usually find 4-6 inch lift kits for a reasonable price too, and can fit 35s most likely. I recommend getting on the F-150 forums and browsing the different threads of lift kits and wheel combos, and see what’s to your liking. I’ve always found Stage 3 Motorsports to be a pretty good source of people to talk to about different kits, that way you can get a better idea of prices and quality of the different options. They have a lot of videos on their RU-vid channel as well.
@ADERAL816
@ADERAL816 4 года назад
My Car Life Thanks man you are great! You instead of going for bigger wheels to go higher my first pick should be leveling kits. Either 2 or 4 or whatever is what you saying right? and to make sure spacer and levelin kit are the same thing right?
@freakfiveoh
@freakfiveoh 4 года назад
@@ADERAL816 Yes, most cheaper leveling kits will be some sort of front spacer, ranging from 1 to 3 inches of lift. If you want a 4 inch lift or higher, you'll have to get an actual lift kit, something with a drop bracket for the front differential, and taller spindles. You can add bigger wheels and tires to your stock setup, but you wouldn't be able to go too much larger without running into a lot of rubbing issues.

how has it held up
@freakfiveoh
@freakfiveoh 8 месяцев назад
The adhesive on that one gave up after a few years. It was still stuck to the dash with the clips, just not as sturdy. When I got a different truck, I got their mount that clipped across the top of the dash and it seems to have held up better.

Let’s go ahead and just imagine you take it out of the package, set it up, and you decide for some unknown reason that you wanted to return it. HAHAHAHAHAHA Return Policy: Returns must be in their original condition (unopened, undamaged, and not screwed into, and with all original screws and components). This is one of the most ridiculous return policies I have actually seen. You are forcing me to keep your product because I put it together? Used it according to your guidelines? No damage or anything that would cause the product not to work properly. You charge a return fee which I can understand if you allowed opened products but now I think this company is attempting to charge fees like cell phone companies. It’s not like they are paying for return shipping. I am not saying this is a bad product, I am just saying for the price I shouldn’t have had such a difficult time installing the holder to the base without fear of stripping the head. Unless you are 100% sure this is a product for you this is a NO BUY. This company does not look for customer satisfaction, it's looking for profit. Wouldn’t the company benefit to accept opened items that have been assembled that have no damage? That is for you to decide. This thing grew on me after some time and decided to keep it. The return policy is not as bad as I originally stated their return documentation needs work. I requested a new sticky tape but have not heard from them. The product is rock solid and made with quality.

Apologies, I've heard that before, and it was a finicky install. All I can say now is if you're interested, get the version that clamps over the dash. That's what I did on my second truck and I've liked that setup a lot more.
