Thanks for the great video as always, I thought the egg at the end was a great way to show what can happen if something heavy enough lands on your foot. I love learning about your trucks and trailers, they're so different form ours here in the states. This may sound stupid but I'm so glad you've stuck with the cheers at the end of the videos, It's kind of my favorite part. Thanks again Stavros, and from all the from Ohio CHEEEEEEERS!

There will be nice to see some trailers from continent. Hard opening low sides for safety and stop mowing loads, opening roof for loading with crain, lights inside, rails on floor for troleys, stearing axle and more other gadgets

Hi Stavros. Keep up with the great work on your RU-vid channel. Iam a class one driver myself, but I have landed a job driving a John Deere tractor moving waste water. Picking it up from different sites and taking it to a treatment plant where its cleaned, It's a great little job. And I get to clock off at 5pm. 👍

Best curtainsider brands I've seen so far: SDC, Lawrence David and Montracon. Tiger trailers are irritating, as the buckles above the axles have to be squeezed under the lip. Not a fan of them but the other three brands? Top notch.

I have pillars in a 30ft urban trailer. They are almost impossible to push in due to being slightly too tall for the trailer. The catch opens if I go over any kind of bump. Even if I use straps to hold them in and secure them in position. Absolute pain.

Had over 30 years on tankers. Packed in them and gone onto fridge boxes for an easy last 8 years before I retire. Can’t be doing with the hassle these curtain siders bring with them. Load baring curtains, internal posts, rotten floors, and dodgy straps. No thank you very much. Great video thanks, it’s definitely made my mind up to steer well away from them if at all possible. Nice to see you’re a man of his word! You could of used an Easter egg to break over your head. Lol..

Legislation has driven the pillarless trailer. We have a fleet of them because of the load securing law. We still have a number of non XL trailers that are light and better to pull but not legal for our operation unless additional restraints are used which will damage the cargo.
@hunzolee

I am so glad the curtain side trailer not that popular in the US. I prefer the dry box trailer. Just close the door and all done. Better cargo security, and you don't have to worry about someone damage the curtain. Great video. Keep up the good work.

Curtain siders are way more versatile though..all you can do with a box is back it up to a loading bay in an RDC - and for that reason alone, a box is a no no for me. I hate those places.

Greeting Stavros! I'm a long distance trucker from Canada. Just discovered your channel. I recently started using "curtain side" trailers on a new contract. Really enjoyed your critique. I'm headed out to the compound to examine our trailers for the points you've brought up. I also just noticed a post you put up a couple of weeks ago on the new Volvo. I myself am a Volvo fan. I own 3 VNL 860. I am curious as to how well these curtain side trailers stand up to frigid conditions.....like -35c and below. We get a lot of that here.

Its interesting to see how your curtains trailers work over seas, over here in the states most of them just slide the who curtain all the way to the front or rear without any bars for easy loading.

Great vid stavros I drive a rigid curtainsider its hardship on windy days I struggle to put the poles onto ratchets because the curtain gets pushed inwards i had a near miss with a pole it came at speed towards my head and i ducked just before it hit me and also I opened the back door in wind and got flung around the side with the pressure cheers

@johanR500

The brake stop you but they come of again in a few seconds! So it's no problem to back up to loading bay with this system, I have used krone trailers with same system here in Sweden!

Soft dock is a pain in the arse and when the brakes slam on its usually because the doppler radar sensors have sensed an object behind you usually a fence which is nowhere near and this can be a problem if the doors are open ready to reverse onto a dock and the two rear pallets fall outta the back

I have used them all over the years and I find flaws in them all. My ideal curtain sider would have a mixture of all the manufacturers components in it. Nothing worse then a smack of a curtain pole or a curtain buckle. Do them reversing sensors still allow you get back close enough too the loading bay.

Steel toe boots can be incredibly dangerous. Instead of having crushed toes you get severed toes. They protect you better against low force impact but any high load will cause the steel to cut down on your toes like a paper cutting device. They are actually not allowed at my job site for safety reasons.

Onesty i am not a fan to curtainsider trailers at all. They are horrible open and close if they are first coming wet and you drive them to the north and temperature drop under a -6 Celcius desigrees.Feels like you try open to steel side. Just last week we was situation like that.Southern finland temperature was a +8 Celcius and raining a water where i loading my trailer but in a northern finland where i unload my trailer temperature was a -23 Celcius desigrees.All trailer curtain was like a one peace. I looking a jeollous drivers whos have a hardwall fullside open trailers.They open and close them so easully and fast.Not need fight at all.Thats in a northern countries use alot fullside opened boxes. Personally i dont see any sense to courtainside trailers.
