Another good one! Thanks. With all those escorts you had quite an entourage. The loading and the backup/scale segments were a great bonus. Thanks for including them.
My 9th great grandfather, Samuel Erwin was one of the founders of Painted Post, New York. This is the first time I have ever seen any video of the village. Thank you for that!
Very nicely done sir! People don't realize how much knowledge you need to do this type of job. Many people just think 'oh, truck driver', and don't appreciate the years of learning that goes into handling this type of freight. Keep on truckin'!
When you leave Dundalk Marine Terminal at night with your escort rolling up Dundalk Ave. do me a favor once you pass the McDonald's on your left don't use your Jake Brake I live in the apartments on the right just after the funeral parlor... I'm just being a smart-ass retired truck driver, be safe my friend.
I'm also finding this very interesting. I think that most boys of all ages are fascinated by big toys. I'm a retired engineer/IT guy, watching from Australia, who's into big road trains. e.g. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nKkzQTEsSig.html
Canadian here. I worked for a Cat dealer ub B.C. loading and unloading equipment on rail cars and trucks, then got into operating equipment. Enjoyed the ride and commentary. Nice truck too!
Toxic wasteland port Baltimore...they just have to keep it now because all the infrastructure is already there .they didn't know what they were doing when they built that port .
It still Blows My Mind, I Worked for a Fella Who Lives & Had a Yard in Pasadena. I had been across that Bridge Somenty Times & to See it Collapsed in Seconds. Oh Shit, I don’t Stop on Bridges Covering that Stinking Ass Bay Or Solomons Bridge on My Way to Work, Southern Pennsylvania To Southern Maryland Four Day’s a Week.
And another enjoyable ride-alone with you. I appreciate your descriptions of how the rig is set up...... that's quite a complex piece of machinery. And of course great editing by you as always. Thank you. 👍
I really didn't expect to watch the whole thing when I started... But that entire process was fascinating. Thanks for the upload, amazing content. This was a documentary in itself.
Great video. Liked all the explanation. That Key bridge collapse was tragic for the workers who lost their lives and their families. May they RIP. Kudos to those who got the word out so quickly that allowed LEOs to block the bridge to avoid further loss of life. And kudos to you for taking a few seconds and giving the Baltimore inner harbor a plug. I am from Virginia and enjoy it when I go.
Hi Doug another awesome video of your true professional skills as a heavy Haul driver and also the amount of work you put into your videos is outstanding and a pleasure to watch and also show the real stresses of doing heavy haul work so wishing you safe miles cheers from tim in queensland australia ( keep on trucking )
Thought I saw an Earl Paddock truck while you were loading. The shout-out confirmed it. I grew up in the Niagara Falls area but live in Western Canada now. Can't believe some of the streets you have to drive with that unit. I'm used to all the over size routes we have in Alberta. I've pulled a tandem jeep with a tri axle low bed and that was stressful enough. You make that big unit look easy. I know it's not.
How does that work? Flying the drone and driving at the same time? Hover in place mode? Nice that in his extra time there he is creating "how to" videos.
M'Gawd, what it does to me when I hear 'er shift to a higher gear. Just something about that sound - like it comes from somewhere deep within the earth. Beautiful job, sir - wishing you many safe miles!!!!
Hey Doug !! Thanks again for the view of the Baltimore Disaster & for the ride !!! Enjoy your time off & hope to see you maybe in Aug. when in the Buffalo area !! 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey Brother , I Enjoyed the Journey. Thanks for letting me ride along. I spent many years doing what you do. Be well Stay Safe. Hope to ride along for another trip 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
We started goi g to the #1 on 695 about 20 years ago and MSP liked it and the word spread, now if you have a trooper thats pretty standard affair. Much safer than wrestling w ramp traffic. Excellent job all around Driver!
The USS Constellation is the last sail-only warship designed and built by the United States Navy. It has a museum gallery and is good for kids. Yes, the USS Constellation is located in Baltimore, Maryland's Inner Harbor at Pier 1. It's the only remaining ship from the Civil War era and is now a National Historic Landmark. The ship was built in 1854 and decommissioned in 1955 after 100 years of service. It's now preserved as a museum ship with four decks to explore. The ship offers regular guided tours, including a cannon firing every day, and visitors can participate in demonstrations The USS Constellation was eventually decommissioned in 1955 after 100 years of service. Built in Boston and launched in 1797, USS CONSTITUTION is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world today. During the War of 1812 the ship gained fame and its name “Old Ironsides.” CONSTITUTION remains both a training and ceremonial ship for the Navy, as well as an educational experience for visitors.
@@rayRay-pw6gz i was already wondering if i was finally losing my mind turns out they were launched very close to eachother though.. so easy to confuse i guess
Greetings from Toronto, Nice job sir , I too have driven heavy float in Toronto ,(89 Mack Superliner with JC float ,double jeep),My heavies machine I ever hauled was a Hitachi 11000 many yrs ago ,I enjoyed travelling 90% In Ontario , At times had to go to Nova Scotia docs to pick machine called Fuich I believe ,for scrap yards recovery ,I'm retired now but enjoy watching ,Cheers
First time viewer, 👋🏼 also, I am a law enforcement officer in CA… Your part in explanation and professionalism is appreciated. I will say tho I am little disappointed with the State Troopers. Personally, knowing I am suppose to guide, assist, and block…that allowing you to keep rolling smoothly would be a higher priority. 🤷🏻♂️ Again, first time viewer. Hope safe travels and better escorts.
Love your videos, I live in Baltimore, about a 20 minute walk to the inner harbor. I drive past the staging area every day on the way home from work. Hopefully one day I’ll see your truck sitting there.
The challenge of getting around turns with the length and of getting up and down hills with the weight would be fun. The frustration of the bureaucracy and red tape would drive me nuts! How do you pass the time, waiting for several days, in a place like Liberty PA (a.k.a. out in the middle nowhere)? Keep on trucking, and remember - shiny side up.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 While you do a nice job of editing, I hope there are some more interesting things to do, unfortunately fishing probably isn't an option very often.
Hi Doug, from Calgary here. My son went to UMBC in Baltimore (actually Catonsville) about 12 years ago. He never encountered anything bad in his 4 years. During my many visits during that time, I only witnessed one incident , that was a fellow getting it on with his wife/ significant other ?? as we were leaving an NFL game. I never felt threatened during those 4 years. Also, enjoyed many visits to the inner harbour.
You are ture professional to allow others driver's the right of way even though the cop kept going. Just the pick up where I left off. That was a beautiful day
Hi Doug. Weather's looking better🤣. Very impressed at the scales. Nice to see the drone footage and how you line up the lorry. All scientific stuff, which I totally enjoy, and looking at the read out. Not many truckers explain any of this. I follow a half dozen or so truckers, and only one person explains things, which is Sherralin (Lorry Diaries) on her site. She does many trips out of England and around Europe, usually France, Spain and Portugal, and she does some explanations as well. When you stopped for the inspection, I had to laugh to myself watching the officer on his back pushing himself along. Looked like an upside down turtle🤣
I'm new here I usually hangout north carolina and southern indiana, heavy equipment operators arizona utah off road and on road vehicle recovery and florida drag racing, this is the first ever long haul channel for meoh I'm into railroads and home construction too.
As long everyone is on the same page on how you getting their, what lanes is needed and what the situation is for the travel. Then keep at it it as long the drive is safe for everyone on the road traveling and less stop and go. But for sure that is a big Cat on the low loader trailer.
Boy we are sure lucky out here in the West (Nevada) where we have lots of freeways to handle these types of loads. A lot easier than what you have to do to get the load delivered to the customer back East. Thanks for taking us along for the trip.
@stuartatkins5425....technically we have lots of freeways (& toll-roads) too, but the infrastructure (read: bridges, overpasses) are in pitiful state and Doug's combo could well be the last nail in the coffin while crossing some of these structures (that was always my fear when operating delivery self-propelled mobile cranes). That said, the traffic -ensity is also far greater on the East Coast then in the West, that's why P\permit-routings are usually mandated off the beaten track.
Yes east coast is not the same game! That’s why I just laugh when westerners say they routinely move bigger pieces of equipment. The infrastructure is much different, the laws are very different and the population density is very different so you really can’t compare the two
My compliments again, Doug, for another outstanding video with top editing. Your explanations at the truck stop while waiting for the NYSP escort, were very interesting. Question: upon entering that T/S, when you needed to raise the trailer, doesn't that activity pull the trailer back (the reverse of what happens when drivers drop the air on a van-trailer after docking, it pushes the trailer-box forward). The real question is: do you leave the tractor-brake off when raising the trailer, so the tractor moves backwards during the process? (the energy for raising the trailer has got to go somewhere). Also, when you suggested - just prior to entering the Rest Area/Weigh Station near Kanona/NY - to have all your paperwork ready for such inspections, you named among other things the Permits. Maybe you should also remind drivers to ensure that the Permits are signed and all auxiliary forms (usually to be downloaded from the State's website) are in fact present with each permit. (I can't stop re-iterating the "signing part" to all my drivers).
Yes you are correct about signing for the states and provinces which require signatures. NY used to require but not any more. I have the habit of only using the tractor parking brake and leaving the trailer released. That being said when working on uneven ground or on a slope all the brakes should be set. The truck alone may not be enough to hold 200,000 lbs from rolling on a slope
Now getting to the end of the video. If that was the Brits pulling up to call the bridge to cross, we'd be duty free first, then call the bridge🤣🤣🤣. Whilst your crossing the bridge, the river reminds me of the Rhine in Holland as its nearing the North Sea. Brilliant video Doug, keep them rolling
Wow I can't believe they took you down thru town in NY that's crazy. There is a long sweeping bridge just before 99 changes to 86 it must have a weight restriction.
Awesome video, Doug! Please visit British Columbia sometime to teach our guys how it's done. I've lost track of how many overpasses we've lost in the last 2-3 years!
Interesting video, trunk, trailer & load info, view of harbor ( March 26 and they are still finding bodies), the differences between your escorts and I can just imagine NYPD writing you up for running a red light or you not stopping for school bus 1:00:43, then seizing your truck and load under their strange asset forfeiture rules
