After driving for 7 years and just becoming a broker this year I wish I did this sooner and could get my 20s back. I showed up for a load and was told that the broker paid a tarp fee but didn't give me a DIME of it. That's why if it's a tarped load and the weather is good...SEE YA. No tarp here. I love the idea it’s just not possible. Many regulations require a broker to move freight to satisfy the relationship between the customer and the driver. A lot of the smaller stuff that truckers move is minimal to them. Think about what it takes to process customs paperwork moving 100 shipping containers from china just for Kohl’s alone: it’s a much bigger global market that they manage. The smaller scraps hitting he semi truck is just a cogg in the wheel. Simply something they manage day to day, extremely stressful job. The problem is Rockies usually are the ones truck drivers are dealing with: Something does need to change though. I’ve worked in freight broker office it’s insane intense: and also drove a truck. I equally think both are chaos and need each other .

I sat through a 40 minute, one in one interview with Renu Zunjarwad at the Mats 2024 show. I explained the issues I have with the board. The biggest issue is reporting brokers that are not doing right. The CEO slipped up in this video and said, "To protect their brokers." That is who they really care about. The brokers supply the bulk of the profit they make so they worry more about the broker. The process for reporting a broker is way too complicated. In fact, the report option is no longer in the mobil app. You must go to the website on your computer. This company does not care to fix this either. I pulled my phone out and I showed Renu some loads that had as many as 8 different companies listing them in the load board. I also let her see that Admiral Merchants changes the pickup locations by as much as 150 miles to inflate the rate per mile to con drivers into picking the load. This company only cares about the brokers.

BY Law whoever you get your load from has to disclose how much they are getting it for . A lawyer can subpoena them. If they dont pay you what you sighned on the contract you get money back. Ive heard of drivers being told that the fuel surcharge is included in the rate, but by law you have to seperate fuel surcharge from line haul. Imagine how much is owed to the driver. You need to get a lawyer who knows about fuel surcharges and also who knows about contracts. There are laws that makes these people transparent.

I was one of those customers that everyone, except a few hates: I would have only one pallet of green beans once a month from my distributor. Neither myself or my distributor could fulfill my shipping order without a broker and combined small loads. I don’t know what to say, but in my 1,100 sq. ft. coffee shop, I could only store 1,500 pounds of green coffee at a time. So there has to be some sort of balance. I don't understand why everyone talks about 5-6$ /mile without saying how many mile is that run and how much time they lost running it. I can get a $5/mile any single day but i turn it down because it's a 50mile run that takes 24hr to finish what good do get out of it??? Here is the math why $5/mile does not work if you don't have at least 250miles on it because 50miles×$5/mile =$250 : 24hr=$10.41/hr for truck, trailer and driver !!!! You can make more then $10/hr driving uber with small car. Comon people you need to know your cost basis and appreciate your time.

Load Boards are Pretty Much Usless if you are alowing anyone and everyone to post the same Load and then posting the Loads that are a insulting for the pay verses mileage verses all the BS that goes with such Loads then the pick up and dropping Facilitys that don't Load or unload in 2 hours or Less these Loads and Brookers should not ever be aloud to post any such Loads then the pay Game quick pay and other BS that these Brookers Want U to play these People should only receive 5 percent of the Proven rate to the carrier so the actual carrier that does the WORK with the Equipment get the most Value of the Pay for the LOAD or better yet just eliminate the Brookers and Let the Manufacturer deal with the Carriers directly so the Pay to these So Called Brookers will have to find another Business to Corrupt And Steal from. This is the reason why they do not want to Share what the Manufacturer are paying so they can make Bank instead of the people actually doing the work with the investment in the equipment not saying that the Brookers have no investment You know fancy buildings cars desks so fourth they Never ever need these types of expensive to pass on to the Carriers by Not paying correctly if a Brookers should continue to do business which I rather not have them anyway they should have a bare minimum office for there bare minimum efforts that they produce and Take the most money from these practices. STOP using these and all Brookers let them find a Real job No one needs them........

Answer to question 1: Stop trying to get rich off of truckers. I was lied to by the rep to get me to sign up for truckstop, telling me the average rate is from $5 to $7/mile June-2024. As a new trucker, I felt I was taken advantage of by giving me a "deal" at $110/month.

Fellow carriers, like the brokers, we have a very important tool on the loadboards. It's the block button, the equivalent of Do Not Use (DNU) that brokers use to keep carriers from hauling future loads. If we collectively use the feature that keeps us from seeing certain broker's loads, it'll eventually cause their freights not to move and get them out of business.

rant alert; Trucking is way too fragmented and broken to be saved. NOBODY sticks together. To prove this to myself I did an experiment. I'm an hourly paid tanker diver, there are only 5 hazmat tanker drivers in our company. When tanker loads are slow I used to switch out to a flatbed or dump bucket BUT at a 5 dollar on the hour cut. I got sick of getting taken advantage of as well as 1 of my coworkers who did the same job as me. We decided to start turning down the lesser paid stuff and demand our normal hourly rate. Company was whining about it for sure. We held our ground, the 2 of us. Well just this last week guess who was running a dump bucket... Not me, my coworker..he caved in. He's not hard up either nor am I. I called him out on it and yep it affected our friendship. ONLY 2 MEN...in the SAME COMPANY!! I will not give in. Other guy did. So 2 men in the same company...And we wonder why these companies completely run roughshod hand over fist on their drivers. 2 men each with 25+ years experience and 10+ years each in the current company.

@@tatico281 There is hope if you can go local hourly. Always ask questions before you commit. There is even tricks companies play in hourly pay. Become more specialized and up your game. I find that a little longer commute to a more competitive and diverse areas (usually bigger cities) a company driver can almost double his annual pay if you are willing to hustle.

Loads posted should be no less than $2.00 a mile. If brokers are posting anything less they need to be investigated or that should be mandatory for them to post.

I use this platform to cover loads sometimes. Nothing really changed all this years with truckstop loadboard. They raised the he price but service didn’t improved. What they need to do is to get rid of the piece of 💩 brokers that don’t pay on time and have horrible reviews. Start there.

Truckers all need to just shut down till the brokers all fold or start paying. Demand the fuel surcharge that brokers are keeping and subsidizing their profits. Stop running cheap freight… otherwise this will never change. 1 to 3 truck companies will never sell Direct freight clients

Been watching for a while.Been independent for 12 years ,load boards are pricing themselves out of business.Posting loads on these boards is a great way to be back solicited and those big brokers have teams than scour your board and destroy good freight.40% of all brokers on these sights are from outside of this country.brokers are building their own load boards making load like these irrelevant and expensive.

Is it possible for the load boards to detect and mitigate or reduce duplicate postings of the same load....out of various other nearby cities all within a radius of each other? So that it looks like multiple in the area but not really all that much as it seems?

I suggest broker can only take 5% profit from the load. Carrier or owner operator can see all the documents from both side. The system is broken. We need to fix it.

Though I agree with good mpg, I also enjoy hometime. I have ran the numbers on my end. I save money driving 740+ miles per day and enjoy more hometime with less hours on the road. Speed vs idle expense becomes a wash. I am in a specialists otr position driving mainly west of the Mississippi. I am an oddity. As of July 5th I have grossed 147k with approx 100days otr. If I ran slower it would add more than 50hrs of drive plus idle time.

Truth of the matter is this.. owner operators hold ya breath. The logistics industry is not set up for you to pump up and drop the MEGALADONS by the wayside. Swallow that pill called pride and be honest with yourself. In this trucking industry; you'll always have someone to make sure you're in "compliance". So pay me my $66k for local/ regional experience and I'll hit the road in times of crisis to help my fellow Americans. Simple 💯💪🏿✅
