I might have something you might be interested in, My trucking company is being put out of business by an insurance company. I paid for insurance and they gave me a fake cert with fake policy numbers for my cargo coverage. They have been scrambling for two weeks to try and fix it and my small two truck operation is stopped. I pay two drivers with family's who are now sitting at home with no income because of this fairly large insurance company's incompetence. They have nothing for me at this point. basically I paid $7000 down to have them put me out of business. Have a good one @mutha Trucker

I agree! I’m a retired Truck Driver after 26 years OTR. I avoided a bunch of 4 wheelers and RVs that pulled out in front of, spun out on ice in front of me, made quick lane changes in front of me then hit their brakes to take a exit etc. Several oncoming 4 wheelers drifted into my lane. My philosophy was I will move over as far as possible but I’m not driving off the road to avoid them.

This is more likely the case in most semi truck accidents. Some irresponsible 4-wheeler did something stupid causing the truck driver to make a quick decision and bam, there's your accident. When driving, I always keep in the forefront of my mind, "see the accident before it happens." That's how you're going to avoid the accident to begin with or if you have to, make a better decision when you have to.

80,000 pound trucks should NOT be on the lookout for a bad car driver. A 4 wheeler should NOT be looking out for a motorcycle. All the above should NOT be looking out for a human. The smaller you are, most of the time. You are more able to see around you, and the more you can move out of the way of something bigger than you. This small mentally be more victim than everyone else is caused by insurance company. A person hit by anything doesn't have insurance for their stupidity and can pay for damages. A motorcycle has less insurance than a 4 wheeler, and a 4 wheeler has less insurance than a semi. I have told my wife and kids that if you put yourself and your passengers in danger for a motorcycle, a person, or an animal, you are stupid and in the wrong. I say that for everything, including a car taking on a 80,000 pound truck, you are stupid and more than likely at fault. We go out of our way to blame something bigger and les maneuver. If truckers didn't have cameras in most trucks. They would be blamed for every accident. I had a pickup truck with a trailer and to blame me for driving over his trailer. Joke was on him. I had a camera showing he break check me.

Life in prison is a bit much to wish on the kid don’t you think? Yeah he messed up badly, and the outcome is horrible, but at 18 he has barely entered his adult life. I’m sure he didn’t choose for this to happen on purpose. Serve some time, learn from his mistakes, and make better choices in the future. Not just take away the option for him to make better choices in the future. At 18, I was out street racing and being a nuisance. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but never thought about the consequences. Now I’m quite a bit older I realize my stupidity back then and am grateful I didn’t cause such a situation. My guess, kid was on his phone. Half these four wheelers are always holding their phone. I’m sure, or at least hope, if he gets out and drives again, he learnt not to touch his phone while driving and to stay focused and be attentive.

Always do not. A lot of these independent Amazon/Uber/DoorDash drivers have no actual U.S Government issued license. I’ve timed it, in order to save time that actually makes a difference you need to be hitting about 120+ otherwise you’re saving literally seconds off most trips you make in a car. Obviously it adds up on longer drives so my 74 mph up 75 to Michigan 3-4 times a year I save time. My 26 mile drive to work saves jack shit by going 80 in a 65. Also if you do something stupid enough to have an expedition max drive into your ass, that’s on you. I have cameras and I’m not risking myself or hitting others to avoid the idiot that will most likely drive away from the 6 car accident they caused.

Yes! Four-wheel vehicles always cause crashes with semi-trucks. By the way, black Yukon skipped over two lanes without yielding to traffic and crashed into my brother's associate in Missouri on Interstate 44 WB. This happened about a month ago. The driver of the truck survived but he was badly affected by the crash. These people are out of control. I'm sick of this. We risk our lives to deliver goods everyday and get crapped on either by the law or by impatient drivers. We have to do better. How do you explain why a semi ran me off the road, into a Jersey barrier? I was driving in the right lane for my exit about a mile away. It is a bad exit, so I got in the lane about two miles earlier. The semi came flying up in the lane next to me, slowed down, then started coming into my lane without signaling. I hit the brakes hard, bounced off the Jersey barrier, but missed the truck. He never stopped. It is not always the 4 wheeler.

Because in 2007 I had several cement breaks on off of an overpass in Michigan outside of Battle Creek and you know what they didn't do nothing but slap them on the hands I took a plea bargain just so they didn't have to be charged with what criminal charges on my case. You have no right to regulate how other people choose to live. How does the phone know if you are a driver, or passenger? Or even on public transportation. The idea itself is ridiculous, the reasons why prove you care more about being in power over others than being safe

This reminds me of a story my mother, who's a paramedic, told me about an accident she worked on I-40 in Arkansas where an driver ass ended a minivan with a family inside at 70mph because that van pulled out in front of him with like maybe a car length of distance ahead of him. Literally enough time to tense up and go "oh shit" before impact. Mini-van driver was a 16yo girl with a learner's permit with mom in the passenger seat and her 3 siblings from 2yo to 12 (i think that was the age range, it's been a while since she told me this story) in the back seat. All but the driver and 2yo died on impact. The only reason they were on the side of the road was because they were having car troubles and were pulling out because they'd resolved the issue. They were going to meet their dad, who worked in Little Rock, at his work to pick him up to go to a christmas party with family cause it was christmas eve. Dad didn't find out about what happened until the survivors were at the hospital and the first responders were able to get ahold of him. Truck driver was physically fine, but mentally obviously he was devastated. And my mom was just as fucked up about it mentally too because not only did she have to respond to the accident and see the results up close, but as it happened, she was standing outside her station smoking with her partner and heard the truck slam into the mini-van. She said the wildest part about the entire thing wasn't seeing the faces of the deceased in the van, but was the fact that the only way first responders knew that the 2yo was even there, let alone alive, was that he cried out two times. The first time, she heard it and ordered everyone on scene to be silent cause she wasn't sure what the sound was. Then the kid cried out again and everyone heard it then. It turned out that the 2yo's siblings on either side of him had folded around him during the impact, shielding him from a lot of the damage and debris but also buried him in his car seat on floorboard of the van. I bring this up cause I saw another driver post about how he was told in driving school that truckers are 70ft long and invisible which is crazy to think about, but hearing the stories my mom has told me and seeing this video, it's so damned true.

😢 sadly this happens too often. I have driven 18 wheeler back in the 70's but nowadays I am driving just 4 wheelers. I see 4 wheeler all the time zip tru traffic changing lanes at high speed then just outt nowhere just cross a couple of lanes to get off on their exit and just barely miss a 18 wheeler to take the exit in and around Memphis Tennessee.

Very very lucky there was a dashcam!! I was not so lucky in Dec. 2021 when a young unlicensed driver lost control in front of me north east of Austin. No one was hurt at the scene but of course within the week after she started talking to an ambulance chaser now she supposedly is injured. She was not supposed to be behind the wheel because she NEVER had a driver's license!! I am still dealing with it and I cannot get commercial insurance anywhere because of "pending litigation". This ruined my trucking career because being an owner Operator I am stuck at this company and it seems their freight doesn't pay crap anymore. I only had 27 safe years experience at the time of the accident.

I had something similar happen. When the car was tangled in my steer tire I had to fight real hard to keep the truck in my lane. Lucky I was quick enough. If I had not been there was traffic in the next lane. The jackass that ran into me was drunk. It was outside of Baltimore where 2 interstates merge together.

I was hit by a passenger vehicle on i294 up around Chicago several years ago. The guy lost control of his car and hit me right on the driver side steps, at about 45 mph. He lost control in an attempt to not drive into a stopped semi in the #2 lane at 5am when it was pitch black out. That semis brakes had failed and had no lights on either. As a result of hitting me the guy rolled over once. I honestly thought I was going to be hurt or worse that day, but truth be told I barely felt the impact of the car hitting me. I had just a fraction of a second to react and thankfully I did the right thing. I just wanted to say to the other truckers if you find yourself in this situation, try not to panic, maintain your lane as best you can, then find some place safe to pull over. In my situation, I was at 78000 pounds that day and I had to drive a full 2 miles before I could pull over because of jersey barriers. Do your best to prevent something bad from getting worse.

It's a shame a life was lost an one is forever ruined, My Question, most companies have you sign an insurance plan through the company, WERE IS THIS PLAN NOW? This is definitely a 100% on the job death. The company needs to stop being greedy, an take care of the unfortunate passing of driver.

All housing on main Street are supposed to have impact guards. (Concrete or metal) Impact guards protect the residence or business from major damage caused by cars or trucks during major collision. Certain streets get greater accident reports than others.

May God bless this young man & be with his family members through this tragic time. How many of these type of "accidents " have to occur before law enforcement will crack down on reckless 4wheelers??? This "Accident " & many more like it proves that "professional truck drivers " are just an expendable tool, not worth very much in this modern American society . Please it would be wise as an 18wheeler to make sure all your personal business & life insurance is in order !!! Today's 4wheelers are the worst drivers I've seen in many years & 90 % are holding their phone when they come speeding pass my rig .....nothing is going to change, only expect things to get worse!!! Law enforcement is only going through the motions . Speed limiters on 18wheelers !!! Wow!!! God bless, take care, drive safe as possible!!!

The two most dangerous times for a driver are coming off of leave because they aren't 100 percent and the second is when their coming home for off time. This one especially because they're not 100 percent and tired and on the verge of brain dump. Be careful drivers! This from a thirty year retired veteran of the open road with millions of miles and awards.

The speed limit on that section of Expressway 83 is 65mph. So the trucker was pretty much keeping to the speed limit driving at 66mph. So, yeah. The 18-year-old definitely caused this accident with an unsafe lane change.

I understand that it makes trucking more difficult, with deadlines and turnaround times for profitability etc., but the speeds in which semi trucks are allowed to drive are ridiculous. In CA, 55mph is extremely rare for a semi to be traveling, but I had to look it up…in Texas, it’s 70+. Very difficult to control that big and heavy of a vehicle at those speeds in even the slightest amount of evasive maneuvering. RIP to the driver and please please please…stop cutting off these large trucks!
