@@daweller I really liked TD Season 1 and thought Season 2 was nowhere near as bad as people said. I was more disappointed with Season 3 to be honest (for me it tried too hard to be a carbon copy of Season 1 but failed, at least Season 2 was different). Colin Farrell's performance was top class as always and I liked seeing Vince Vaughn in a dramatic role. I read online that Tokyo Vice Season 2 is in post production so I'm waiting for a teaser trailer to drop. I'm more excited for that than TD: Night Country to be honest, I feel as if True Detective has run it's course and is overplayed at this point.

@@kylehoschar5309 Agreed season one was amazing I have watched season two a few more times some of the episodes were really good others not so good. I think could be because they switched up directors in the middle the suspense was not bad. Third season ending was disappointing we wanted a dramatic ending. The best part was the veteran who took on local thugs.

VERY few films or TV shows that take place in Alaska are actually filmed here, unfortunately, outside of reality TV which is inexpensive and relatively simple to produce. We don't have good tax credits in place to incentivize major productions, and we also don't have the kind of infrastructure in place to support those kind of projects. Much of the state is extremely remote and inaccessible, i.e. not even part of the road system, so filming outside of our few major urban areas would be not only expensive but logistically difficult. Iceland is actually a great choice to approximate the remote tundra landscapes of coastal Arctic Alaska, and I'm glad they went that route. The landscapes and visuals of the town shown in the trailer definitely pass the vibe check imo.

The essence of good TD is having two characters who contradict both each other and even themselves, a philosophical message, and the murder, well that’s just a cherry on top. Pizzolato wrote the murder around his characters in season 1 and that’s why it’s so good.
