Muffler Deletes are perfect. Not too loud, but loud enough for you to enjoy. It is a sweet spot into making your car louder. I deleted a muffler on my 1992 4runner V6 and it has a unique sound now even for a V6. It has a deep idle, and at around 1500 approaching 2500 RPM's it sounds like a roaring V8, but once you hit the 3500 to 4000 RPM range then you can slightly hear the V6 note that every 6cyl engines make, but it just sounds unique like a bass Amplified Nissan 350z mixed with that 1st gen cummins that passed by at 9:43 . Mainly because every catalytic converter has their own special design, and every header and engine crank has its own special design too, so all that can make your car sound a little different than expected. I love my unique sounding V6 4runner, but really I can't wait to try this on my Tundra 4.6L V8 🙂
Nice! I did something similar with my 2000 C3500HD (7.4 Vortec). I deleted the two cats, and replaced the factory muffler with a Flowmonster straight-through muffler with two 3'' inlets and two 3'' outlets and then turn-downs right behind the muffler. The muffler has two individual perforated pipes that are surrounded by packing material in a stainless steel case. Holley owns them, along with many other brands including Flowmaster, Flowtech, and Hooker.
I've got a 97 4x4 Sierra like this with a 350. I have 2 1/2" true duals, no converters with mac Flowpath mufflers, 2 1/2" tailpipes exiting out the sides and it sounds absolutely Amazing..
I have a 88 Chevy 1/2 ton 5.7 350 V8. Deleted cat 3" pipe into a single inlet 3" dual outlet flowmeter and it sounds pretty good. Love the k1500 series. Best trucks ever built.
My buddy has a 95 with the 5.7, he's running 2 and 1/4 pipe all the way back no cats and cherry bomb extremes. Its got a really deep tone and its loud when you want it to be. And it claps
I’m totally about to do this in my 97 GMCZ 71. I got a leak on the driver side inlet to the muffler and just sounds horrific and my son‘s got a 98 Silverado, his first vehicle. And his came with a custom true duels set up that came out just before the rear drinker side tire and it’s what I wanted to do with mine all along. he bought his that way so I’ll have two very loud OBS trucks in my driveway soon. Thanks for the video as I didn’t need much of a push in this direction in the first place lol. Your video solidified it in my mind
I have a 1994 for my first car and I’ve never known what the exhaust setup was on it and I think this is it because it sounds exactly the same!!! Thx for the help lol
Made me smile the entire time!! Did this exact diy to my buddies 96 and it sounded the exact same. Too bad the new owner put a factory exhaust back on.
Just something about those GM motors. I just had a y pipe dual set up done on my 14 Sierra 5.3. It’s got that damn 3rd cat and I didn’t want to mess with them and have check engine lights and problems. Y pipe after the 3rd cat then straight pipes out the back. It sounds fantastic. Not crazy loud but if I let it rip a little you can definitely hear it. Thanks for sharing the vid.
I did this to my Chevy vortec 350. Honestly for a at home job it’s the best exhaust sound u can make for simple cut your muffler off. Why mainly cause the thing I loved about these trucks is u cut the muffler off and u instantly had true duals. I have a tbi truck too and when it was stock only place it’s true dual is before the one single cat where it y pipe from the manifolds. and u would have to cut it way up there and than get unsafe fumes in the truck it wasn’t worth it. This still at least gets the fumes out behind the cab Everybody different only thing is the pipes are 2 inch up front on the vortec. All depends on what u like if u fill the rest of the exhaust in with 2 inch it will be loud as hell assuming U delete the cats too. Smaller exhaust is louder! But u dot have to have all the same size you can actually make it bigger in the back to soften the sound it will still be loud as hell with bigger pipe without the cats too but jsut not as bad as the small pipe. or just redo the whole system with bigger pipe if u want more mellow sound yet specially if u still have cats
Personally I don’t like the cut muffler sound. It sounds wet and it’s not my thing. I do however, like the 5.7 when they’ve got a good exhaust job. I love the sound catless straight pipes give off and even catless glass packs. I think the Ford you have has a great sound right now as it is.
Damn all that pressure cutting boy.. put a fresh blade on and let the tool do the cutting..work smarter not harder..less injuries..enjoy the vids keep it coming
I have the same truck in Colorado. truck came from Montana with NO RUST. 1999 Chevy k1500 3dr LS all options 243,000 miles 5.7 liter and rebuilding it inFort Collins at Chevy dealership. Was made in dec. of 98 and is a 99 model.
Those factory exhaust on the older Chevy's are made of quality steel they last a long time I still have the original on my 98 1500 its showing its age but for being a Canadian truck that's darn good
I would say put some kinda streight through muffler on there. I used to do this on a lot of my trucks/cars back in the day. Either no money or just wanted it to sound loud now! Lol. All the shitty crackling, raspy noise got pretty annoying. But once you buy a quality muffler or system, you never go back. Thats when you realize how bad it really sounded lol. Don't get me wrong, I still like a loud exhaust, just like a refined tone. I'm ordering a Carven R series for my 19 z71. Then make a y pipe to split into the duel existing MBRP system I have now. They sound great. Deep, crisp and loud!. Oh also, get a diablosport i3 with a (diablew) custom tune. Its mint. I do have short video of it if you like see it. I do a 0-100km/h one up on the torque converter 0.- 100km/h and a 60 to 100. If you check it out, don't mind the poor camera and talking skills lol.👍🇨🇦🍺
Beautiful truck and nice sounding exhaust setup you got on your rig. I checked out your videos on your truck and I subbed. How many L/100km do you get while running that tune? Is there any difference from the stock tune?
@@campbell0162 thank you. From stock, to where it is now with tires level, tune, etc. It is not to far off from where it was factory. I also keept a bit of rake for aero like factory. I was around 16L per 100km, if i remember, and now its maybe 1km a L more? I drive with a heavy foot most the time. I plan to weld in a Carven R series muffler soon with y pipe. And gut the 3rd cat. My tuner will revise the tune if needed, and will see how it does. Going to be pretty loud. Ill be installing some diff drop spacers in a few days. Maybe ill make a video. 👍🇨🇦🍺
Love the truck bud. I have a 99 k1500 with the 5.7 as well. I'm running no cats and a muffler (dont remember the brand) but it's still pretty loud yet, but not insane loud lol. It's got a little rust here and there, I'm also gonna do a whole frame restoration on it after college.
Ahh love the collections of mufflers lmao ... get some money for those cats . Dope heads used to steal them off local cars and trucks and sell Them for metal lol
I have the same truck but mine is white with burgundy interior. My exhaust is the same but I have no catalytic converters and my pipe comes out the back duel style with 2 glass packs and it turns heads for sure.
I have a 95 k1500 with the 350tbi and it has a y pipe with no cat and I just cut the muffler off last night it’s running from where the muffler was like how yours is and it doesn’t sound bad, it’s definitely a lot louder then yours because there’s no cats but it honestly sounds good and it’s not too bad for drone on the highway I’m eventually gonna put a flowmaster super 10 on but I’m gonna wait for a bit cuz I’m having fun😂
I had mine cut off like that with turn downs. When it’s cold the first major take off it will clap a little bit I would recommend putting straights turned down to the corner of the bed kinda how newer trucks are done has clap but not Excessive with cats
At 9:50 u said that u don’t see them that much I have a first gen 2 door regular gas long bed Dodge Ram w150 with dual straight pipes angled out the back I love it me and my grandpa built it together
I'm gonna be doing a muffler delete on my 97 c1500 if it has 2 true dual exhaust gonna run ether 2 glass packs or magaflow exaust with 4 inch tips going in front of my back passenger side tire loud and proud
rip sawblade. thess GM exhaust are great. super durabale. VS what they used on TBI model. up here in Canada the truck can be split in half by rust and these exhaust when stock are always looking brand new. 😂
My truck came with a previous owner installed heartthrob cat back exhaust system glasspack kit with chrome or stainless 3 1/2 outlet slant cut 18 inch long exhaust tips except for the cat delete because the wrong cat back kit was ordered so it was straight welded on..sounds great.. my exhaust tips are straight out the back of the truck,I've thought about redoing it by heating up the exhaust tailpipes and bending them into 90's out behind each rear time but it sounds great so I left it alone..
