Kwame' was Niiiiiiice. No matter what people say about his clothing style with the olk a dots which lots of people wore,he had skills. He could flow fast ,slow his word play was dope and he has dope beats he's made in the last 5 years. He's from the school of trying to get you with the verses not just hooks,or a dance,or guest appearence.
Janean L. Watkins +Rononeal Neal What was so cool looking back is that it was accessible to everyone. You didn't need a lot of money and/or some expensive name brand to pull it off. They were easy to find plus you could be creative and put your own spin on it.
I saw Kwame perform at one of the night-spots here in Philly in 2007. Although I saw him nearly 20 years after his popularity had worn off, he still put on a dope show. No matter how old they are, true MC's never forget how to perform and "move the crowd."
The process of creativity is always an amazing story, creating absolutely something from absolutely nothing. Hunger breeds genius ... Great story from Kwame , one our hip hop legends , he made some really great jams
**Sigh....I love that man. He is a genius. I've been a DIE HARD fan since I saw his first video "--- - It's it's tha man we all know and love"...I was mesmerized. I'm so glad he still has a presence on the scene.
people laughed back in the days, and they laugh now when i mention it, but kwame is one of my favorite rappers of all time. seriously. got every album. still bumps the shit out of em to this day. i can damn near recite the first 2 albums acapella., skits and all. dope storyteller. they laugh at that too, but your stories don't have to be about the street. thanks kwam!!!
One of my favorite mc from back in the day lol had my poker dots hat could never get my hands on the shirt would love to see him perform still a banger from then till now 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
The years have been good to Kwame. He doesn't look broke down like alot of cats and it's good to see he wasn't in jail and is still doing well. Big ups to him and bless God for having a good example out there for these cats that think street cred comes from negativity
Gotta respect dude. He created his own style and fashion. He played well to the women ala Big Daddy Kane. Yes, I'm guilty of wearing polka dots but it depended on how you rocked it..lol. The videos and stage presence were on point. Got my respect.
Good shit. I met Kwame before he really blew up once at a black expo. I didn't know who he was till a couple of girls came up and asked for autographs. Dude was cool, so cool I thought he was in character!
i love these True Hip Hop Stories! i can't believe these songs are 20 years old now. that's crazy! i was a child when kwame was out and these other hip hop artists, but i still love 80s/early 90s hip hop to this day better than the stuff out now! hands down.
I wanna say rest in Peace to Paul C...who we called Paul Juice...Studio 1212...the first studio i ever been in.....we recorded 7 songs there.....#R.I.P. Paul C.....
Damn. Yet another funky favorite of mine that the late Paul C. (RIP) had his hand in. That dude is like the Da Vinci of Golden era hip hop. Google him. The best producer you've never heard of.
On da real! Kwame. I've always be one to like you and your style just so you know a sista still respects your talent and love for music. Mayne! We missing you and we need to hear from you.
that girl was so rad when we were young and then highschool changed all that. Claudia ended up going to a different school and Alicia ran with the wrong crowd. I just wish we were all afterschool in JR high and Alicia was double daring me to make out with claudia. that was the good peer pressure. that changed my life. Kwame I make it to heaven to tell you this story some day. I hope Alicia and Claudia are okay. love you both.
Do you have proof of that? As it's noted, either Dr. Dre or one of his fellow producers on Aftermath Records were involved with the production of that song.
Yeah Dr Dre takes credit for a lot of stuff he didnt actually do... my cousin worked at Aftermath & told me Kwame & Mike Elilonzo actually produced it.. however I could be wrong.....
& Dj Quik! He put those lovely claps on it. Those claps are def not dre's. Dre usually uses hard ass snares. Dre could have never come up with in the club on his own.
Great story...love the days of THE HUNGRY MC. 6 out of 8 songs in one night that ended up in his debut album? Dude GOT IT IN ! The TuPac Kwame work ethic...that's it. Get in there and WORK. Turn that cell phone OFF don't TWEET or TWITT and tell them cute girls you'll see them later. You got WORK TO DO.
@bzrwon I have never been laughed at when playing Kwame - also and mostly = the whole interview was about the making of 6 of the 8 tracks on the record...you should check your listening / interpreting -- P.S. - so glad for the film makers to have the access to these great stories - more documents!
NO LIE, saw him up at King Of Prussia Mall back in like 08 with Kamal from Da Roots, shook his hand and kept it moving!!!!!!!!!!!! Good to see he's back doing shit as producer K1 Mil.
